The recording studio was designed for function rather than extravagance, with every detail focused on capturing clean, professional sound. Thick acoustic panels in alternating shades of charcoal and deep gray covered much of the walls, breaking up echoes and giving the room a quiet, insulated atmosphere. Bass traps filled the corners, while sections of natural wood trim prevented the space from feeling sterile. Soft, dimmable LED lighting cast an even glow across the room, bright enough for reading notes yet subdued enough to create a relaxed environment during long recording sessions. The air carried the faint scent of electronics, freshly brewed coffee, and well-used soundproofing foam, a familiar combination in studios that saw regular use. At the center of the room stood a sturdy microphone mounted on a heavy boom stand, complete with a circular pop filter positioned precisely in front of it. A pair of professional studio headphones rested nearby, ready to be slipped on between takes. A music stand held neatly organized pages of notes and highlighted scripts, while a comfortable adjustable stool sat behind the microphone for sessions that required hours of speaking. Thick cables snaked neatly across the floor, carefully secured to avoid becoming hazards, connecting the microphone to racks of audio equipment housed in a cabinet along one wall. Small indicator lights blinked steadily from preamps, compressors, and audio interfaces, silently performing the technical work behind every recording. Beyond a large double-paned soundproof window lay the control room, where an expansive mixing console stretched nearly the width of the desk. Rows upon rows of faders, knobs, and illuminated buttons sat beneath several large computer monitors displaying colorful waveforms, audio levels, and editing software. A pair of oversized studio monitor speakers flanked the screens, positioned for accurate playback, while shelves behind the console held neatly arranged microphones, cables, and various pieces of recording equipment accumulated over years of work. The control room felt busy yet meticulously organized, reflecting the habits of professionals who valued precision.

Standing comfortably inside the booth was Kimberly Williams, whose casual appearance contrasted with the highly technical surroundings. The Woman Scorned wore a pair of well-worn blue jeans and a simple penguin T-shirt. She had a pair of black combat boots on her feet. Sharing the booth with Kimberly was her oversized penguin plushie, Wasley, a constant companion that added warmth and whimsy to the otherwise professional setting. The plush penguin was large enough to occupy its own chair or rest comfortably against the wall, its soft black-and-white body and bright orange beak providing a cheerful splash of character amid the muted colors of the studio.

“Time for the very first episode of Whiskey With Wasley hosted by Wasley and his co-host, The Woman Scorned…The Queen of the Death Match…future SCW Underground Champion once I get my mitts on Asher…ME! Kimberly Williams!” She sighs and shakes her head. “Alas there is no actual whiskey on this first episode of Whiskey With Wasley. My mommy thinks it might be a bad idea for the co-host to be hammered. We prefer the guests to be hammered. Besides, we wouldn’t want everyone to think that the future SCW Underground Champion is a drunk, am I right? I have an image to uphold! I have to uphold the proud image of Supreme Championship Wrestling and the proud image of Franky and his New Order! Hoorah Franky! Tell the people what you think of Franky, Wasley.”

Kim motions to Wasley. The penguin plushie, of course, remains silent.

“Wasley is at a loss for words. That is rare. But it’s ok! You know why? Because Franky is letting little old me show off in my very own SCW Underground Professional Wrestling Showcase! Tell ‘em about it, Wasley!”

Again, the penguin remains silent. The Woman Scorned sighs and shakes her head.

“Oh hush now, Wasley! You know damn well that I am equally as adept at pure WRESTLING as I am at being an Underground Death Match Queen. Or maybe I should call myself a Death Match Goddess considering how everyone how everyone calls themselves a queen of something nowadays? Which gives me an idea, dear listeners and Kimmymaniacs all over! The very first ‘We…THE PEOPLE’S…Bunkhouse Stampede Poll’ of Whiskey With Wasley brought to you…THE PEOPLE…by we…THE PEOPLE! So listen closely to the question, I don’t want to repeat myself: Should I be known as…

Death Match Queen
Death Match Goddess
UNICORNS!

The choice is yours!” Kim grins from ear to ear. “Regardless, it doesn’t matter because when it comes to the beautiful glorious chaos of the Underground, no one does it better than me. I can tear the flesh off of my opponent’s flesh with barbed wire. I could drive them into thumbtacks. I could cut them to pieces with broken glass. Oh the possibilities are endless!” She sighs and shrugs her shoulders.

“Or I could just pick out a limb and slowly but surely torture my opponent. Say, the leg? A few dozen dragon screws…figure four across the steel ring post…all to set the poor bastard up for Scorned, my sharpshooter variant. And you had better believe that they would tap out. This idea that I am just a one trick pony is preposterous. Ask my family…Marie. Angelica. They’ll tell you that in the Jones Family, I am the best wrestler. Hell, I even outwrestled my distant cousin Glory Braddock. I just happen to prefer the hardcore style of the Underground because of the freedom it gives me to maim. I have a license to slaughter. I am liberated to be as wicked and violent as I want.” She points a finger at the camera.

“Which is really bad for you, Chase Upshaw. Or should that be Upchuck? Eh, who cares? No one cares about you, which is why you are being served up to me on a silver platter. It isn’t a matter of if you lose, it is a matter of HOW you will lose. Will I maim you and leave you in a bloody mess? Will I humble you by outwrestling you and forcing you to tap out? Hell, I might just do a combination of the two. I could maim you and torture you like a kitty cat playing with its food until I am good and ready to end you and then I can slap on one of my submissions, Scorned or the Angel’s Arch, and make you give up.”

“You are unlucky enough to be the poor bastard who gets to be a part of MY Underground Showcase. It is a showcase of just how ruthlessly violent I can be, whether it is with weapons or simply tearing a limb off of you damn body. This is a showcase of how damn good I am in the Underground and why I am not lying when I call myself the Queen of the Death Match, why I am not lying when I call myself a Death Match Goddess, and why I am not lying when I say that this Underground Division belongs to me.”

“Not Davey Crockett Striker.”

“Not any of Oktoberfest’s European Fiery Friends.”

“Not even Asher…despite the much love I have for the goofy guy!”

She pats herself on the chest. “The Underground Division belongs to me and soon the Underground Championship will belong to me as well. Chase, you’re just a victim. You are someone who I will make an example out of. This is my showcase and you are just the victim.”
