Gigi sits in a chair in her Therapist’s office. Her head leaning down resting on her shoulder. She is asleep, couldn’t help but dozing off, not getting too much sleep lately. Her head rolls downward, snapping herself awake. Throwing her head back. She wipes her eyes and her mouth. Thank the Goddess she wasn’t drooling.
“Welcome back.” Dr. Evelyn Mercer says to her. The doctor swivels in her chair back and forth. Tapping her notebook with her pen. “I know it’s been a busy month for a lot of people. Yours is quite remarkable. If you want to talk about it?”
“That is an understatement.” Gigi continues to rub her eyes. Trying to get rid of the sleepless in them. “And you’re just toying with me. You know all about it.”
“It was kind of hard to miss. You were kind of all over the place the last few days.” The doctor explains herself.
Gigi leans forward in the chair. She grabs her next neck and tries burying her head between her legs trying to hide. How did she let everything come crashing down around her? She is smarter than this. Or at least she thought.
Dr. Mercer sits in her chair. Waiting for when Gigi is ready to talk.
Gigi sits back up straight in the chair. She lets out a breath and says… “Ok, let’s see how you help fix this mess.”
Los Angeles, California, at Gigi’s apartment she lays in her bed asleep. Her phone on her nightstand already says it’s 12:00 in the afternoon. Gigi is still struggling to make it out of bed. Eventually she gets up and sits on the side of the bed and grabs her. Checking the messages that she ignored through the night. Messages from Katie, Maddy are in her inbox checking in with her. As are messages from her boyfriend Liam. All of them think she is out with one of them, but last night she spent it with Drake Lane. The current bad boy of Hollywood and anti-work personality that the internet loves to drag. Also the star of Katie’s movie she is directing. Well at least she is about to finish up with that project soon.
Ash knocks on Gigi’s bedroom door. “Gigi, are you awake yet? It’s already noon. Maddy has gone to work.”
Gigi jumps up from her bed and walks over and answers the door. “I’m up. I’m up.”
“Another late night with Liam?” Ash blushes proposing the question to Gigi. Wondering what the two could’ve done so late.
“Uh yeah, it was just a nice quiet date night. Nothing special to write home about.” Gigi tries to shake off Ash’s questions by jolting her.
“Is that why you didn’t return Maddy’s messages? Or Katie’s? Too boring a night?” Gigi isn’t going to lose her persisted tail that easily. “Or Liam’s?”
Gigi stops dead in her tracks. There it was. They knew.
“Yeah, you’re not that sneaking G.” Ash shakes her head in disapproval.
“Who else knows?”
“Just me. I caught Liam’s call last night. Where were you?”
Gigi doesn’t know she suspects much. She could still buff her way out of this. “I was at the gym. Just a late night workout. I need to get my mind back into my career.”
Ash’s laughs at her terrible lie. “If that was your story then that’s what you would’ve told us last night. Come on G, spill it. Or else I’m telling Katie.”
“Seriously?” Gigi spins around to confront Ash and her accusations. “You’re going to run and tell mom on me. Besides, it's not a lame excuse. You all would’ve wanted to come with me and between Maddy ogling the guys and the guys drooling for you. I didn’t need the distractions.”
“They don’t drool…’ Ash just laughs at the ridiculousness of Gigi’s comments, but changes her tone pretty quickly. “Sorry, I never noticed the Goddess side usually has that effect on people. G, come on talk to me. What is going on? Who were you with last night?”
“How do you know I was with someone?”
“Katie, Maddy and Liam don’t know about it. It’s pretty obvious.”
Gigi now knows she is trapped. No way of giving herself out of this. She has to tell Ash something or else she’ll seek Katie for advice. “Ok. I am seeing someone else. Kind of.”
“Kind of?” Ash responds with confusion.
“I don’t know. I don’t like him, like him. He's an arrogant guy. You can’t tell anyone about this.”
“This is big. Who is this guy? Drake Lane?” Ash reads Gigi’s facial expression at the name drop as a dead giveaway. “Oh Mother of Goddess, you’re the one. Everyone has been wondering why he’s so all of a sudden tamed now. He’s quiet on social media with the conspiracy stuff. No fights at clubs. Even better behaved on the set of Katie’s movie. You fixed him.”
“I didn’t fix him. I don’t know what I did to him. Just being around him and things happen.” Gigi sounded frustrated with herself. Like she is doing everything to fight her feelings.
“G, it’s obvious that he really likes you. That he’s changed for you. For the better.”
“No. No. Noooo. Ash don’t be ridiculous. It’s not that serious.”
Ash shakes her head disagreeing with Gigi that it means nothing. “Ok, fine. Fight your feelings, but you can’t out run them forever.”
“Ash. This isn’t a love story. I’m just trying to figure my shit out right now. I don’t want to break up with Liam. I like him. I also can’t talk to Drake and break up with him. I’ve tried. I’m just trying not to get caught.”
Ash scratches her head. Trying to figure out something that could possibly help Gigi. She has nothing.
“Ash, just don’t tell anyone. Not until I figure this out.”
Ash nods her head understanding and tries her best to show Gigi all her support. Gigi turns and heads to the kitchen to grab herself some needed caffeine to help wake herself up.
Gigi lays on a nice couch at Katie’s home. She must’ve dozed off again. The busy life of a woman that is juggling a little too much is beginning to show its signs. Luckily for Gigi, Katie doesn’t pick up on it too much. Katie is busy storyboarding through Acts II and III of her film. Reciting her ideas out to Gigi to gauge how they sound.
“I really love what I have here Gigi. You’re really going to love the little easter eggs that are laid out all over Da Vinci’s workshop for when the Scientists arrived there. It’s just going to really compliment the audience's viewing pleasure.” Katie nods at her own approval. She turns back to Gigi to get her answer, but sees her asleep. “Gigi.”
Gigi jumps up off the cushion a few inches awake. “What? I’m awake.”
“Are you ok? Did you get enough sleep?”
“Yeah. I’m fine. Just a little bit tired. I’ve been busy.”
“Ok that’s good because I need you. I need to make this movie huge. Luckily I’m ahead of schedule for filming. The studio likes that. So they like me, so that's really good. Nobody thought this movie would get made and Drake Lane was a bad choice to lead it with his troubles, but somehow he’s been my best star. The Goddess sure has blessed me.”
Gigi watches Katie and she continues to go through her board. It’s weird and nice seeing Katie so upbeat and cheerful. All that different from the world being against her when dealing with SCW stuff. Gigi picks herself up off the couch and stands by Katie. She tries her best to do some detective work. To see how much Katie would flip if or when, when she finds out the truth.
“Katie, this is all just so good for you. I’m happy. I am. What if something were to happen that jeopardizes everything?” Gigi grits her teeth proposing the question.
“What? What are you talking about? Do you know something? Did you see something online?” Katie turns to Gigi knowing something horrific just happened. Katie rushes to her phone and scrolls through website after website for anything.
“No. Nothing has gotten out yet.”
Katie looked up at Gigi with a confused stare. “Yet?”
“Or at all. I’m just wondering. You’re in such a cheerful mood. You know how people like to spin things into a negative. About you.”
“That’s true. They always post that filth about me.” Katie puts her phone down. She stares off looking like she wants to strangle the trolls online.
“Yeah so not really anything serious, but if something were to come out. Not about you. Someone working on the movie. Like the star of it dating someone.”
Katie shakes her head.. “I’m not really following you G. How does Drake seeing someone affect me or the movie? I was warned about him and looked up some of his past. Nothing really alarming. Mostly just bimbos he dates. Are you saying whoever his current bimbo is is what is keeping him from making an ass of himself online?”
“Yeah, yeah that's what I'm saying.”
“Again, G it doesn’t matter to me. Though I’m grateful to that bimbo. Whoever she may be.”
Katie finishes her conversation with Gigi and returns back to her work on her storyboards for her movie. Gigi steps aside and watches her. Knowing Katie is right about everyone. Even that bimbo that we’re all grateful for.
“Why didn’t you tell Katie about seeing Drake?” Dr. Mercer asked.
“I just wasn’t ready. I’ve never done something like this before. She knows what kind of problems these kinds of celebrities can be”
“Katie is an actress. She did her fair share of roles and theatre. She could probably have some kindly advice for you.” Dr. Mercer offers up some helpful tips.
“You’re right. Katie has had her share of douchebags. It’s just with me, Drake isn’t one. He’s different. He’s not the guy I thought he was. What people see him as. I think I might just be liking him. Liam is a nice guy. I enjoy our time together. It’s normal. We have our fun. I don’t want to hurt him. If I break it off with Drake. He could revert to that person everyone sees him as and ruin Katie’s movie. Who do I pick?”
Gigi asks her question to the doctor as the clock on the wall clicks to 1:00 and their session time is up.
Dr. Mercer nods her head trying to think of something to help Gigi. “Gigi, what you’re going through isn’t that unique of a situation. A lot of people struggle with their feelings and it’s hard to make the right decision when there are probably none. You just have to be honest with yourself. We’ll dive more into this next time, ok.”
“Thanks, Doctor.”
Gigi stands up from her seat and leaves the office. She doesn’t really have a clear path on what she is going to choose between either guy. Maybe this will carry on for another week. Or someone else is going to catch her in her lies. Whatever happens, happens. Now Gigi is going to focus on herself and the opportunity in front of her.
“Gotta get serious. New Year, New Me. We got to start this year off right. 2024 was ending Katie’s quest. Her goal wasn't really her goal, but she just happened to luck into it. Just something for being Katie Steward can get a person. No one would ever admit it, but she is the best person they’ve got to see. Now it’s my turn. To get those breaks. Opportunities. To just be someone that people want and or need to face off against. Now it’s my quest. The SCW Television Championship is the best first step in that road. A Championship made for a Steward to hold.”
“My first one on one match against Polly Pingotti. I cheered for her after she won the title. A nice achievement for her. She deserves it. She had her moment. Unfortunately that is not how SCW sees things lasting her. Polly and I are going to give them something special to watch. She is going to prove to everyone just how much of a fighting champion she is. It’s not going to be enough. It can’t be enough. I’m hungry. Not just hungry, but I’m starving to get some taste of singles gold. My Women’s Title reigns have long passed me by. I want a championship now and nothing is going to stop me. I know Polly enough from our tag team battles. She knows how I am. She knows what to expect. I guess it’s good that this Gigi is a bit different. The last couple of months I haven’t been myself. Just gone down a more opportunistic route. I want something and I just have that something. Oh my Goddess, I’m Katie.”
“I’m a Steward. 2025 I’m going to remind everyone of that. Doing what a Steward does to win. No, not just win, but win a championship. 2025 I’m going to be the Television Champion. It’s just no one is going to see that reality happening in the very first week of it. The year of the Steward is back.”
