BEEP!

Selena wished she could have the same control over the microwave as she did over SCW – the Snow Queen waving her hands and shushing the small oven as if she could quiet the thing’s beeping. You know… instead of stopping the timer before it reached zero!

Still, the three short beeps came and went quickly – whereas her little ‘dance’ continued for a few seconds as she tried to ‘wave’ away the noise. Relieved with the quiet, though regretting her movements due to the nagging pains in her body, Selena breathed a calming breath, closing her eyes for a second.

There was no sound of movement to her ears. Not even from Oberon, meaning she hadn’t woken anyone up. Another exhale of relief allowed Selena to refocus. Pressing the ‘open’ button of the microwave, she retrieved the rather large and thick purple wrap. With careful hands, she held the wrap with one and pulled up her long, baggy black shirt with the other, revealing the matching sleep shorts she wore as well. She did not have the patience or even the ability to dress in her preferred clothing of her magenta gown. It was comfortable yes, but it required better movement to get into than she could provide. Thus, baggy shirt and shorts had to do. Still on task, the Snow Queen wrapped the hot cloth against her back, tying it up at the front – the heat-pad cloth pressing into her back muscles.

The pain eased a little, allowing temporary comfort – enough to move across the kitchen, into the connected family room and sit on the sofa, her back pressed into the cushion. For several minutes, she did nothing but focus on that feeling, her eyes closed, trying to will her body – specifically her back muscles – to relax and let go of the nagging pain and tension.

She desperately wanted NX. She had stayed true to her previous established rules that she had taken on since Deanna’s inability to take care of their children here in Manhattan. She refused to have any NX in the house, the preferred place being either in her bus, at her own home in the Eyrie Tower, or – if it was an emergency – in a locked safe hidden in a locked cabinet inside the pool/gym room. Sadly, the third option was the ONLY option she had at the present moment AND – as she had learned two days ago – that ‘hidey-hole’ had been empty for some time, the Snow Queen forgetting to refill it last time she had used it, which only made her mentally curse herself even more.

I must have pulled something! she thought bitterly. The soreness just didn’t make sense. For what it was, while there had been several spots and painful moments in the chamber, her last match certainly hadn’t been the worst chamber match Selena had been in! In fact, aside from Polly spearing Mason through said chamber and Selena getting the other ‘spot of the match’ with her ‘THIS IS SPARTA!’ moment kicking James Evans off the chamber pod, the chamber match had certainly paled in ‘hardcore violence’ compared to the Underground Chamber match. Even so, while she had walked out of more violent and harsher chamber matches with few concerns, there was no denying her current state.

And unlike Mason, this is legit! She thought bitterly. Gods, she had given Demitria a bit too much credit regarding that night. She respected and even liked the man sure enough, but she refused to believe that that bastard had suddenly developed an ‘injury’ just when Polly Pignotti was kicking his ass!

She refused to believe that for a second! She had fallen off a damn scaffold against Giovanni Aries, had her foot crushed by a crate from Past, Present, and Future, and far too many more injuries to count and had still powered through whatever match or hell she was in (including an Ironwoman match on one occasion!). But Mason ‘tweaks his knee’ and he ‘can’t compete’?

No… she growled at the thought. It was too coincidental! The match, despite James’ and Mason’s hopes, had not been for the world title contendership or anything of the sort. Perhaps, in the moment of getting his ass-kicked, Mason had realized this and, rather than take his beating, had opted to run away. THAT sounded more like Blake Mason than seeing him as a ‘victim of a freak accident’.

“The bastard probably didn’t want to be embarrassed...”

The thought brought forward two emotions. First, pity for Polly. The poor girl had gotten so close to beating Blake and had held her own against not only him, but Lohan AND Evans! She deserved far more praise than she was getting from this chamber match. Selena gave a shake of her head. She wanted to find a way to, discreetly, help Polly break the glass ceiling, but every opportunity that came up always seemed to see the girl come up short. Just have to be patient… she told herself as she focused on the second emotion that came from the thought of Mason’s logic (or her theory of it).

Understanding.

Mason was all about appearances. He had come back pretending to hold all the cards, and regardless of Selena beating him down week after week, he had refused to budge from that image. Image was far more vital to Blake than it was to her – the Snow Queen not caring whether she was hated or loved for her beliefs, especially when her path was set for, ultimately, destruction.

Still, had Mason continued on and been eliminated by either James or Selena or even further brutalized by Polly to the point of being ‘taken out of the match on a stretcher’, his stock would have dropped so much faster.

In some way, Selena could understand that aspect – she faced it (or would face the possibility of it) next Breakdown.

A sigh escaped her, but this one not calming. She had gotten wind of her next match – a singles match with David Striker. And, originally, Selena had not been concerned about it. Striker was a solid wrestler from what little she had paid attention to with The Phantom Troupe, but like The Fall of Man and a few other groups – they were just noisemakers. A stable of people making noise, but, ultimately, aside from Trios, little to no impact… except maybe Waylon Creek – the current TV champion was still doing rather well with his win-loss record.

But with David Striker? The man had been given far more opportunities in the last six or so months than Selena had had all year and, every time, he had come up short. The boy had no SCW accolades to his name despite title shots/opportunities at the Adrenaline and SO MANY at the Underground title! He seemed to be in a similar spot, career-wise, as Polly was, but where she aware and constantly trying to evolve and get better, David seemed… ignorant of it if his promos and air of ‘superiority’ were anything to go by.

I mean… what kind of man brags about ‘knowing more’ than everyone else and having more ‘experience’ than others when he lacks the credentials to back it up?

It was almost staggering to the Snow Queen the oblivious nature of the boy, perhaps it was because he was still young – and it wasn’t like he had no talent. He did, which was why Selena could understand Mason’s logic. For despite the lack of achievements title-wise, Striker did hold a few key wins, particularly a win against Dark Fantasy.

That stunned Selena – the boy had a victory over BOTH Syren and Ravyn. Which meant an upset against her was definitely possible. Moreso with her back…

She breathed slowly. No… she would rest up. She would be better before next week! Moreso, she would have her NX with her again. There was NO WAY on Odin’s sacred ground that she would allow an upset of that magnitude to reach her – not after she had just conquered a damn Elimination Chamber with a ‘dusting of her hands’! No way would she allow her ‘stock’ to go down now that Hudson was out, Evans was silenced and she was still on top of the list of ‘power players’!

“Back still bothering you?”

Selena jumped at the voice and immediately winced, the pain racing up her spine like a damned bolt of lightning.

“I’ll take that as a yes.” Deanna nodded her head grimly. “Did you think I wouldn’t notice it?”.

“I…” Selena breathed through the pain as she tried to speak calmly. “I didn’t want to make a big deal of it.” She stated through labored breaths. “The focus was supposed to be on you spending time with the children.”

“And I’m grateful for that.” Deanna stated as she moved further into the room, the emerald nightgown she wore bringing out her red hair and matching eyes. “Thank you for keeping my clothes where they were.”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Selena replied. “I’m only here temporarily. Till you get cleared.”
“Then…”
“Then it’s back to my castle in the sky.” Selena finished, easing back into the couch as best as she could. “Anyway, don’t worry about me. It’s a bad bump. I’ll be fine in a week and when I get my NX back.”

“Says the woman that forgets that I won a chamber match last year.” Deanna quipped back, moving around the couch to stand in front of it. It was only at that moment that Selena noticed the dark green plastic container with the white screw-on lid. “Scooch.” Ordered Deanna.

“What?” Selena asked.

Deanna merely hummed a sound. “Shove a bum.” She ordered, using her free hand to wiggle her fingers, indicating her desire for Selena to move further down the couch. Awkwardly, the platinum-blonde obeyed, allowing Deanna to slump down into the newly-available seat beside her, keeping her eyes on Selena. “Come on.” She ordered. “Turn and lift the shirt.”

“Why am I?”
“Come on, Selena, I’ve seen you naked, remember? More than once even! Just chill!”

On instinct, Selena’s arms flew up to cross over her chest. “But… we’re not…”
“Didn’t you do the same thing when I was banged up? Or whatever?” Deanna countered, unscrewing the lid to the container. “You’re not going to reach that part of your back very well. Just lift the shirt so I can.” Her fingers were already wiping some of the off-yellow cream onto her fingers.

Giving it as much thought as she could in those few seconds, Selena slowly huffed and turned away from Deanna, lifting her large shirt to just under her bust and removing the no-longer-hot wrap. Immediately, she felt the cold gel but warm fingers of Deanna, her back tensing for a moment before a slow heat began working its way deep into her muscles far better than the cloth did.

“This will work better.” Deanna stated matter-of-factly. “Cause I’m pretty sure the last thing you want after winning a chamber is to lose.”

Selena’s eyes widened in surprise for a moment, partly because of Deanna’s observation but partly because she was feeling her ex-wife’s bare hands on her bare back, which was not helping matters! “You’ve taken advantage of the Wi-Fi, I see.” She remarked sharply.

“Oh maliciously!” Deanna whispered. “I also am grateful you didn’t change the codes for adult content.”
“You…” Selena tried to jerk her head back. “You didn’t, did you?!”

“No.” Deanna laughed, sticking her tongue out a little at Selena. “I’ve learned to use my imagination…” she muttered the last part. “And my memories…” thinking Selena hadn’t heard her.

She had… but said nothing.

“Anyway, focus on recovering. I faced Striker a few months ago. He’s not easy.”
“So I’ve heard.” Selena sighed. “I’ll figure it out. Soon as I get this under control.” She threw her thumb behind her, gesturing to her back.

“Will you…” she felt Deanna’s hands still against her back. “Will you call me if you need me? Or the children need me or anything?”

The Snow Queen took a slow inhale before slowly nodding her head. “I promise.” She replied. “And hey! News here! Jake Starr is back and might be the one heading the ‘Enigma hunt’. Assuming Enigma focuses on him, maybe we can get you out here more often.”

She had meant for it to sound positive and optimistic, but the stillness of Deanna’s hands gave her doubt.

“I…” She heard Deanna breathe. “Merely ‘beating him up’ won’t do it.” She answered. “I tried everything I could.”

“And you did something.” Selena assured her, reaching down as soon as felt the redhead’s hands reach her ribs and sides, choosing to take them into hers despite the cream on them. She held on tightly, surprised when Deanna did not fight to release. “But maybe it’s time for someone else to take the task on. Other people need you too…”

She wanted to say herself but her fear won out. “Our children, SCW, and of course Luz deserves a fair shot against you.”

Deanna said nothing, merely pulling her hands away from Selena’s to refocus on the platinum-blonde’s back and sides, massaging them best she could. Selena didn’t utter a word either.

For her part, she didn’t envy the battle the redhead waged.

Least I know I can beat my opponent… she thought. And that when I knock him down… he’ll STAY down…

The Royal Letter

Well, SCW Universe… I hate to say I told you so…

But I told you so!

Did I not say this all would happen? That the ‘magic’ of the new world champion would burn out? Did I not say that all his promises of ‘a new SCW’ would amount to nothing? That it would be me maintaining the 'new' status quo? Did I not say that all I had to do was wait and be what I am and ultimately, time would prove me right?

I did, didn’t I?

Because not only do I stand here before you the WINNER of the Elimination Chamber over what many considered to be the ‘rankings-check’ of the World title contenders, but I stand here with a smile on my face and a laugh in my heart as I say these words!

JOSH HUDSON! I FRIGGIN CALLED IT!

I told you – I told the world – that you wouldn’t last! I told the world you were nothing more than empty promises riding the hot air of momentum and once hardship – TRUE hardship – hit you, you would fold like a house of cards and all your little promises of the ‘Wild Wild West’ would simply disappear!

And look what has happened? One loss. One loss of the world title was all it took and Josh Hudson – the ‘hero’ – gives up.

I rose from my loss at RTG and conquered the damn chamber! Him? Oh no! Josh does not rise. Josh runs away. Josh announces his retirement. Josh takes his ball and goes home. Walking out on every one of you that supported him! That BELIEVED in him!

And here I stand – in MY world – MY SCW. Not Blake Mason’s and not James Evans’ like they swore, but MY SCW. I stand in my ring, in my world, in my kingdom, the only one not surprised by all that has come from Under Attack. Because I called it.

Because it was plain! Plain as the snow falling for the winter. I saw it with Allocco, saw it with Kandis, saw it over and over again. People that can get lucky for one night – one time – one moment. People who, for a few months at best, can have the luckiest string of success, even against me. But ultimately, NONE can last here like I can. None can THRIVE here like I can. Eventually, all their fire/light… Poof! Burns out! And that leaves SCW in the cold… where I stand, thriving and ruling as the Snow Queen that I am.

Josh… don’t be too upset. You just couldn’t see that you were nothing special. You were nothing “different” than those that got lucky with me. You just bit off more than you could chew. Happened to your little former student, James Evans, when he thought he could take me out of SCW and take my place in it. I’m sure you saw what I did to him…

Josh, James, so many that fight me and try to BE me… simply bite off more than they can chew. And, ultimately, they pay the price for it. Because no one can be me. No one can do what I do. But since we are on the subject… it seems I am facing someone else that has done the same thing.

My, my, my, David Striker. It has been some time, hasn’t it? What was it? A month or so ago that we faced? You seemed to have forgotten which team ELIMINATED yours from the Trios tournament. Who made that possible by delivering the finishing blow. Do you remember now?

Well, I remember you. This man, disbelievers – such a man he claims to be! So sure of himself! Proclaiming his already-injured state but so sure of victory! So sure of his victory over me and – hell, proclaiming himself a MASTER of fate! This man, ladies and gentlemen, has declared that he will arrange Fatal Fortunes – an event where every element including match, stipulation, and applicable partner(s) are randomly drawn – will BOW to his will and grant him tag-team title gold with his choice of partner! That his wishes shall all be his without question! Victory, championships, a position of undeniable power… Basically what I have and am…

And why?

Because he is SERIOUS now! Because David Striker is taking things seriously now!

Tell me, David. If you truly are this ‘Master of Fate’, why do you stand before me without an accolade to your name? And I don’t mean the ‘things you did elsewhere’? I mean here, in S-C-W. That’s where you are fighting me. That is where I compete at the top level. Why, Mr. Serious, are you not standing before me as I am before you? As a chamber winner? Why are you simply one of the ‘eliminated’ rather than the victor? Why is ‘The Frontman’ achieving so much less than the ‘Fall of Man’ despite his ‘Mastery of Fortune’?

Is there a clog in the system, David? Are you experiencing ‘technical difficulties’? Or… Have you bitten off more than you can chew?

Because your little ‘assessment’ of me? I was more insulted by your ignorance than your actual remarks – few as they were as you cried more about Colleen and your past – but even so… You believe I know nothing of ‘seriousness’ and ‘fury’?

Have you been living with ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ in the dark all this time, David? Do you have the slightest idea who I am and what I have done? Seriousness? I kicked a man off a damn chamber pod to send him and The Fall of Man a message! Fury? I smashed a chair into Blake Mason’s spine until it was almost paste! And both those were just in these last few weeks! Look back – and I mean REALLY look back – SCW history is littered with the bodies of people I have bloodied and put down on my path to the top. Ask the new world champion. Ask the new Adrenaline champion. Ask the new Underground champion. Ask the tag-team champions.

Ask anyone.

Ask anyone who the greatest wrestler is in SCW today. Ask anyone who the wrestler of the year will be. Ask anyone who is the most decorated and dominant wrestler in the past decade is…

That is who I am, David. And THAT is who you’re going to be facing tonight.

Is it sinking in now, ‘Master of Fate’? I will grant you, you have talent. You don’t enter a chamber with a smile and then fight in it, and survive, without some degree of talent. And your victory over Dark Fantasy months ago validates your desire to challenge for the world tag-team titles.

However… none of that is something I give a damn about. Your ‘plan’ is not my concern. Your ‘wishes’ are not my concern. I care about me. I care about dominating SCW. I care about enjoying my path back to where I belong – the SCW World Champion… all in good time.

And tonight, you can be as ‘serious’ and as ‘furious’ and as ‘hardcore-eous’ as you want… but you’re entering MY ring. MY world. MY match. Playing by MY rules and, eventually, seeing my truth rather than your own.

I haven’t clue… oh no, my poor Striker. You haven’t a clue… You haven’t a single clue. You didn’t have one the last time you faced a Frost… and you lost… And just like then, you are still clueless, unaware just how much you’ve bitten off more than you can possibly chew…

But don’t worry. Tonight, I’ll be sure to show you. Whether you want to believe it or not after I do... Well, that will seriously be up to you.

Kindest regards and best of luck,
Selena Michelle Frost
