Villain of the Year
”Paradoxes Abound!”
Schoenburg Castle
Oberwesel, Germany
January 18th, 2025
4:53pm
“Woooooow….” David Frost remarked as he gazed on the window of the car as it pulled into the vast estate, his wide eyes taking in the detail of the castle walls and towers. “It’s like something from a video game!”
The remark forced out a slight chuckle from Selena as the platinum-blonde drove the rent-a-car. Still, the boy’s surprise and wonder at the large castle made sense. Gazing at the familiar walls, Selena admitted that it had been some time since she had last been here. “Sorta big, isn’t it, David?” she called back, earning a ‘Uh-huh’ response of wonder.
“You know…” she smiled to herself. “You’ve been here before.” She cast a quick glance back towards the backseat of the vehicle, eyeing the three children sitting there. “All three of you have.”
“We have?!” The young boy asked in surprise, his bright red ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ t-shirt a stark contrast to the dark colors his older sister wore to his right and the light green colors his younger sister wore to his left.
“Yep.” Selena answered, returning her eyes to the road. “Though I think only Elsianna has a chance of remembering that. You and Ami were still very young.”
“I was here?” the youngest Frost child tilted her head, Selena just able to catch the movement by shooting a glance at the rearview mirror.
“Year ago.” Selena answered. “David, you were about four years old and Amiliah, you were about two. Elsianna was about eight.”
“So eight years ago?!” Amiliah asked in shock, earning a laugh from the redhead that sat beside Selena, the laughter both sweet and unnerving to the Snow Queen (given recent events).
“No, sweetheart.” Deanna remarked, able to more fully cast her gaze to the children in the backseat, as she was not the one driving the winding path up to the castle entrance. “How old are you now?” she asked patiently.
“Um…” The little redhead tried to really think, even shutting her eyes as if to ‘super-concentrate’. “Six!” she declared. “I’m six years old!”
“Right.” Deanna smiled. “So if you were here when you were two years old, and you’re six now… how many years are between two and six?”
Unable to help herself, Selena stole a quick glance back at the rearview mirror, just in time to see her youngest child count on her little fingers.
“Two…Three…Four…Five…” Amiliah counted away before, too quickly to make the final count, she held her hand up. “This many!” all four fingers and thumb were extended. “Five!”
“Wrong!” David shot out. “It’s been four years, stupid! Six minus two is four!”
“Hey! Don’t talk to your sister like that, young man!” the cold command from the boy’s rude response to his little sister was spoken in sync, without any help or prompting, as BOTH Frost women spoke the line simultaneously, though Selena also noticed the cold glare that Elsianna shot her little brother at the boy’s insult to her sister.
“You know better than that!” Selena added. “Now apologize.”
With a huff, David crossed his arms over his chest, muttering out a “Sorry” after a second. Sadly, the whole thing suddenly put an awkward silence – bit of a damper – on the mood that had, for the most part of the travel to Germany, been rather enjoyable, even for Selena constantly running through her checklist four, five, six times. It hadn’t taken her long to agree to Deanna’s plan regarding using the Schoenburg castle as a bit of a ‘hideaway’ for the family, any longer than it had getting rooms for them. True, the castle was supposed to be closed for the winter season (opening around mid-March), but that was where knowing the owners and being friends with them came into play.
And the Huttls had been delighted to get her phone call once more. Such wonderful people… Selena thought to herself, actually excited to see them again. Her son had been right. It had been four long years since she had visited the castle and seen Margarite and Gunther Huttl.
Four years since Deanna’s incarceration.
Since the end of Fredric and Gloria Castle.
Since the beginning of Killjoy.
Since the beginning of her journey as the greatest world champion in SCW history had begun.
It was true. That moment four years ago, the last time she stood on the castle grounds, on the cusp of facing Syren at “Be Careful What You Wished For”… it had been the start of such change. She had learned so much since then, gained so much… the platinum-blonde’s eyes fluttered over to Deanna, who was still talking to their children in the backseat (so she did not notice Selena’s eyes on her for a brief moment)…. Lost so much…
Once more, her eyes found the rearview mirror, but it wasn’t to look at her children this time, but rather to see her own reflection. Four years hadn’t physically aged her too much, but that wasn’t what Selena saw. She could see how tired her eyes looked, some bags underneath them, even with the slight makeup she had applied before heading towards the castle grounds. She could see the tension in her temples and the tightness in her neck.
Things were definitely different after only a few years. She and Deanna were no longer married, she was a villain in SCW now – something that, nearly four years ago, she had believed would never happen (fighting all the evil groups like Infamous at the time) – and yet, had accomplished more in those four years, headlining EVERY Rise to Greatness in that time and holding the world title more in those years than anyone. Deanna had also become a wrestler in her own right – the Snow Queen was sure that would shock Margaritte.
The whole thing felt like a paradox. Like not much time had gone by while simultaneously feeling like a lifetime of change had occurred. It was an odd thought to Selena as she pulled in past the gates and into the parking spaces. Wet snow and slush covered much of the grounds, giving the rooftops a lovely ‘winter’ glow, but making the ground a wet slop of a mess. Again, the contrast was not lost on the Snow Queen as she tried to properly park the rented vehicle into the space. That accomplished, she turned her head towards the passengers – two redheads and two white-haired (or white-trimmed in David’s case).
“Alright guys.” She directed to her children. “Everyone on their best behaviour. Mr. and Mrs. Huttl have been very kind to let us stay here despite it being their closed season. I don’t want us giving them any problems, okay?”
“Yes, mom.” David answered first, eager to exit the car and look around (unable to just leap out as he was caught sitting in the middle between his two sisters).
“Yes, mommy.” Amiliah remarked with a bright smile.
Elsianna merely gave a double nod towards her mother, which was enough for Selena to unlock all the doors, allowing the women and children to tumble out. She was quick to step out of the car, hearing the wet slush crunch and slosh a little under her booted feet. Closing the door, she moved around towards the back of the car, opening the trunk (while avoiding her children exiting) to retrieve the suitcases. She had managed to get out Elsianna’s and David’s first (handing them to their respectful owners) before she heard the loud, joyous voice!
“Willkomen!” the voice bellowed through the stone archways that framed both the entrance and exit of the parking space, which only added to the echoing effect. Immediately, all eyes of the travellers travelled across the pathway to the set of doors about twenty feet away. There, with the widest of grins, stood the short, round-yet-stacked, bearded man, the only thing bigger than his voice was the wide smile that grace his face. Even through the thick, white beard he bore, Selena could see the joyous smile as she stood there, his arms up a little in a gesture of welcome.
“SANTA?!”
The single voice – perhaps the only one that could match the man in volume due to complete lack of shame and heart full of wonder – was Amiliah, the young girl looking at the large man with absolute shock, mouth agape. “SANTA CLAUS?”
It was too much in that moment and Deanna and Selena found themselves laughing – hard! It was too adorable! The reaction, the immediate response from little Ami, it was just too cute. Holding a hand on the side of the car to steady and calm herself, Selena let the last few laughs roll out of her before composing herself. It was enough time for the man – ‘Santa’ as Amiliah had called him – to make his way towards the Frost ‘family’. Her smile remaining, the Snow Queen moved around the car to meet the man, just in time for him to wrap his arms around her and give her the fiercest of hugs.
“Fraulein Selena…” he whispered joyfully. “It has been too long.”
“It has, Gunther.” Selena agreed, allowing the feeling of happiness to linger – allowing herself to enjoy it for a moment – before leaning out of the embrace to regard the man. “Thank you so much for letting us stay here during closed season.”
“Our pleasure!” he smiled. “For you and your wife!” he clapped his hands. “Like family!” However, upon mentioning the redhead, Gunther’s eyes fell on her as Deanna walked up from behind Selena. “Speaking of which!” he was quick to embrace her next. “Willkomen, child.” He greeted in a fatherly-tone full of the same warmth he had shown Selena, which Deanna returned with such a radiant smile.
“So good to see you, Gunther.” Deanna laughed, the large man easily able to lift her a few inches off the ground with his hug. Watching all this, Selena was able to see the difference the years had made on the older man. His beard was not as red as it had been three years ago. In fact, the majority of it was now as white as the snow on the rooftops. Same with the hair on his head, which was definitely thinning. Even so, that smile of his remained! “How is Margaritte?” she heard Deanna ask, returning her attention to the current conversation.
“Preparing some food. Long travel, I imagine?” he asked before seeing the three children finally catch up with their parents. “Ah…” he tilted his head, never losing his smile, as he saw Amiliah first, her mouth still agape. “Who do we have here?”
Again, Selena couldn’t help the surge of happiness she felt. It felt so familiar – like the old days. Of the Frost family visiting this beautiful place. Of her and Deanna spending their honeymoon here. Of reconnecting here- Stop it. her mind ordered. We’ve been over this…
Despite the command, the Snow Queen’s mind fluttered back towards that night last week – of waking up in Deanna’s arms. Nothing inappropriate and yet… completely so at the same time! Carefully, more so than before, Selena stole a glance towards the beaming redhead, the shorter woman happily introducing (or rather reintroducing) Gunther to their children.
As if things couldn’t get any stranger between them, the following morning of the ‘sleeping’ event had confused her more so! Not because of herself, but because Deanna had acted like nothing had happened! She had come down that morning, smiled, checked to make sure Selena was okay… and then went about her day! Working out, watching TV, reading a book – not ONCE had she brought up the whole ‘sleeping in a bed together’! What the hell?! her mind repeated the same question it had over and over again since then.
“And, of course…” she heard Deanna remark, regaining the platinum-blonde’s attention. “You heard Amiliah.” She remarked, bringing the short girl towards the castle host.
“Amiliah?” Gunther asked with a tilt of his head before looking down at the child. “Little one Ami?” he asked with a smile before kneeling down, apparently not affected by his knee sinking into the cold slush on the ground. “Last I saw you, I could hold you in one hand!” he remarked towards her. “Look how grown you are! And what a voice! Like prima donna in Faust!”
“She thought you were Santa.” Deanna giggled. “I’m afraid you do look the part, Gunther. Especially with that beard now.”
“Ah…” Gunther smiled. “Die Schönheit dachte, ich sei ein Weihnachtsmann? Zauberhaft!” he laughed a little as well in understanding.
“Is that elf-speak for your helpers?” Amiliah asked earnestly, her curiosity beating out her shyness of meeting someone.
“Elf-speak?” Gunther asked in fascination.
“No, my little fireball.” Selena came in, reaching a hand to run her youngest soldier. “Gunther lives here in Germany. And here, most people speak the language known as German. Like how you speak ‘English’. Do you understand?”
Slowly Amiliah nodded. “It’s funny sounding.”
“Amiliah!” Selena was about to chastise the girl for the remark, but the bright laugh from Gunther stopped her.
“It can sound very funny!” He agreed before biting his lower lip playfully. “Would you like to hear a really funny sounding word, little one?” he asked, earning a nod from Amiliah before he cleared his throat. “Ahem… Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz.”
Now, Selena, in that moment, was pretty sure Gunther just had a stroke. Because in the five or six seconds it had taken him to say all of that, there was NO WAY that was a word! And yet, to her shock…
“It means Beef labeling supervision duties delegation law.” Gunther stated.
“Bull!” Selena stated without thinking, able to stop herself from saying the last part she wanted to say. “That can’t be a word.”
“Well, it isn’t now, but it was about ten years ago.” Gunther remarked with a smile. “But okay… a real current word… um…. Ah!” he snapped his fingers before returning his attention to Amiliah. “How about this one: Lebensabschnittpartner.”
“What’s that mean?” Amiliah asked, her eyes never wondering from the man that looked so much like Santa to her.
“It means ‘The person I am with today’. So your mother…” he gestured towards Selena. “Her Lebensabschnittpartner would be-“ he moved his hand towards Deanna. “Your other mother!”
Oh dammit… Selena’s mind groaned as she felt that surge in her chest, right where her heart was. Again, she threw a glance at Deanna, this one less than subtle, to see the redhead… simply laugh it off. It was beyond infuriating but what could the platinum-blonde do? She didn’t want to correct Gunther and risk making this all awkward as hell. And Deanna? Why wasn’t Deanna feeling awkward? Or saying something? Anything other than a laugh?
“That better be what you’re saying, Gunther.” The redhead eventually spoke. “I don’t want my six-year-old picking up curse words.”
“You can curse in German?!” David asked-
“OR my eight-year-old!” Deanna quickly added, eyeing the boy knowingly.
“They grow up so fast.” Gunther remarked, a hint of sadness in his voice amidst the vast amount of joy, but he quickly seemed to recover before returning his attention to the family before him. “But speaking of beef inspection, Margaritte will have the meat cooked and prepared by now! It’s almost dinner!”
“YAY!” declared both Amiliah and David, the latter adding an “I’m starving!” at the end for emphasis of his current state as they followed the large man into the castle. Deanna followed with Elsianna, leaving Selena by the car to check the trunk for any luggage left to be brought in. Yet, as she gathered her last bag and closed the compartment, she was surprised to still see her eldest standing there, simply looking around the large space of stone and architecture, seemingly lost in it. So much so, in fact, that she did not hear her mother approaching her from behind and stand next to her.
“Do you remember being here?” Selena gently asked, earning a gasp and slight jump from the eldest Frost child as the twelve-year-old. Quickly turning to face her mother from the slight scare, Elsianna quickly managed to calm herself. “Sorry.” Selena offered, rather surprised that the young girl had been so distracted. “Didn’t mean to startle you.”
“Wh…what were you asking, mother?” the child asked, her eyes cast down at the bag of luggage she carried.
“I…” the child’s lack of gaze on the Snow Queen did not go unnoticed, but Selena did not push it. “I was asking if you remember being here. You were also rather young, Elsa.” The platinum-blonde tried. “But you spent a good few years here and going to school and-“
“I remember.” The voice came quickly, sharply, but softly, accompanied by a quick nod of the head from the young girl. “It was shortly after…” her gaze moved over to stare at her gloved hands and forearms. “This happened.”
She didn’t have to go into detail. Selena understood the reference. Shortly after that damned bully had assaulted Elsianna and lit her arms on fire with spray and a lighter, leaving Elsa’s arms scared even worse than Selena’s back was. Still, the child had spent the years in Germany recovering and rediscovering herself, and while she rarely had the gloves removed, Selena could still see her amazing daughter there, growing each and every day.
“And mom was in prison.” Elsianna sighed. “Is she… is something happening again?” she suddenly asked, her eyes ALMOST meeting her mother’s but veering away to stare just past or under them.
“Something happening?” Selena asked.
“That why we are here?” she asked. “Because there’s more danger? Or you or mom are going away again?”
“Whoa… whoa… hey…” Selena tried, hearing the growing concern/boarderline-panic in her daughter’s voice. “What is bringing this one, snowflake?” she asked, genuinely concerned. “You know I wouldn’t let anything happen to you or your brother and sister or your mother. And your mother feels the same way as I do, okay?”
“But…” Elsianna tried shaking her head but still unable to…
“Elsianna…” Selena tried, lowering her head a little to try and look at her daughter’s averted face. “Why can’t you look at me when you talk to me?” she asked, it now being her turn to be genuinely concerned. “Did I do something? You can tell me, sweetheart.” She tried, reaching out to push a stray lock of hair that the wind had blown out behind Elsianna’s ear. “I promise, whatever it is, I won’t be upset.”
For a moment, the child moved her head, almost about to look up at her mother the way Selena hoped. But at the very last second, the young girl pulled away, shaking her head while giving a quick, “No… I’m fine” before grabbing her bag and running back into the castle after the rest of her family.
For Selena, she could only stand there, watching her daughter disappear from sight. What was that all about? she thought to herself. She could not recall any time her daughter had been so guarded and quiet around her. Even during the separation between Selena and Deanna, Elsianna was still her daughter and she was still her mother. They had always had a special bond, ever since Selena had found her in the Pilgrim Springs Orphanage seven years ago!
So what the hell is going on? She asked herself in frustration, wracking her brain for any answer or clue! When had this happened? She thought back. Everything had been fine last week. She had divided her time between taking care of her children and returning to the Eyrie Tower to look after Deanna. Made sure the kids went to school, made them food, made sure Gerda was there to look after them when she could not due to SCW obligations.
So what is it?! she thought angrily. The only thing out-of-whack that’s happened far as the kids would know – or at least Elsa would know – is…
Her eyes widened in realization, the truth hitting her harder than a piledriver. “That bastard…” she whispered into the winter winds, thankful she was alone and no one could really hear her. The answer was so obvious!
Since that Breakdown. Not the one where she had rushed in and smashed a lead pipe over Mason’s body - He got off light that time… she added bitterly – but rather the Breakdown before that had seen him further his ‘mind-games’ and ‘crossing the line’ by going after Selena’s family and calling Elsianna.
That was what had changed things! But to what end? Selena couldn’t be sure. While the night was a little fuzzy to the Snow Queen thanks to the headshot Mason put her through with the chair and the microphone, she distinctly remembered calling the ‘Forever Home’ to check on Elsianna and trying to explain that she was fine and ‘not to worry about it’. And to that, her daughter had seemed fine – or at least understanding of her mother’s words. But, if that were true, why couldn’t she look at me? came the obvious thought and to that, Selena couldn’t answer.
Slowly, releasing a deep breath into the cold air, she let the matter pass for now. Her family was set to stay here till the end of next week (with the pay-per-view happening this weekend) and they would be safe here. At least she had that to be thankful for.
Letting go of the matter for now, the platinum-blonde finally entered into the familiar castle to rejoin her children and ex. She said very little the whole evening beyond answering questions and greeting Marguerite genuinely while everyone unpacked and settled into their rooms, though Selena was forced to come clean of her marriage (or lack thereof) when she needed to explain why she had to have her own room and not a shared one with Deanna.
“You didn’t have to tell them that.” Deanna offered. “I could easily sleep on the-“
“Nope.” Selena shook her head. “I’m not going to lie to people who have been nothing but kind to us.” She had replied. The news had certainly made Gunther and his wife sad for the two Frost women and had put a bit of a sad mood during dinner when it had been revealed, but for the most part, the group had moved on and adjusted rather well, to which Selena was grateful.
She was drawing closer to her match with Mason and she had no more room for any other distractions beyond Deanna’s ‘odd behavior’ and her daughter’s ‘unknown issue’. Still, it was only after Selena had fully settled into her own room within the castle late into the evening, changed into her magenta nightgown and settled into her seat with her laptop on her lap, ready to study more of Mason’s more recent matches, that she heard the knock on her door frame.
Gazing up, the former world champion was quick to recognize her daughter again. This time, however, Elsianna was also dressed in her sleepwear, though hers were black sleep-pants and a dark purple t-shirt. Still, she kept her hands gloved and her eyes anywhere but on Selena. “Can I come in?” she asked nervously, her hands wringing together in a nervous gesture.
“Sure.” Selena nodded, taking the laptop off her and placing on the nearby table. In the same movement, she carried herself over to the end of her bed, sitting down before patting the mattress with her hand. Without a word, Elsianna moved over to sit beside her mother, though she did not say a word at first.
“You want to tell me what’s been bothering you?” Selena asked, earning a slow nod from her daughter. The child didn’t say anything for a few moments, merely biting her lower lip and fidgeting with her hands, though as Selena was closer to Elsianna, she could now see the cellphone in the young girl’s hands. It was another minute before Elsianna swiftly unlocked her phone and opened the screen, revealing the YouTube video she had been watching. “Rewinding” the video with a swipe of her finger, she eventually managed to stop her desired point and press the play ‘button’ on the screen.
Before Selena’s eyes, she saw herself on the small screen being handcuffed to the ropes, a moment that was ‘fast-forward’ by a double-tap by Elsianna, pushing the scene forward until Blake Mason was on the screen, using his own cellphone.
“You can ask your mother why this happened!” Blake’s annoying voice came from the speakers as the scene from Breakdown played out like a bad memory to the Snow Queen. “How’s it like that you have one mother who is half-insane and another who is too selfish to probably actually keep a marriage together-“
Hearing it again, even if it was just a replay, Selena felt her spine go tense. How dare that smug bastard, who had gone through more partners than Selena had world championships look down on her over the hardships of her marriage. How dare he throw that in poor Elsianna’s face!
Still, Blake continued. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure mom is home more. Or maybe, you’re better off with a third one. One who isn’t going to ensure everyone she cares for has therapy for the rest of their lives? Huh? Maybe third times the charm!”
Selena still wasn’t sure what the hell Mason had meant by that. A third mother? Was Deanna seeing someone? How would Mason know that? And what did it matter to Selena? Deanna was, certainly, attractive with A LOT to offer! It stood to reason that she could, eventually find someone to take Selena’s place in her heart – even if it bothered the platinum-blonde to no end to even think about. Still, she remained silent as Elsianna continued to let the video play to its conclusion before, ultimately, turning the phone off.
“What did that man mean by that?” she asked slowly. “Do you really not want to be married to mom, anymore?”
Selena’s head twisted fast to stare at her daughter’s face, for the child’s eyes were on the floor. “No!” she stated firmly. “I would…” she breathed, trying her best to keep her thoughts and tone calm around her daughter, exhaling a breath to try and aid herself in that, before she allowed herself to speak. “There is nothing I would love more than for things to be back as they were.” She answered honestly – both to her daughter to herself. “But… they can’t.”
“Why?” Elsianna asked, finally turning her head to look up at her mother’s eyes. “Do you not care anymore?”
“Of course I care!” Selena tried. “I love your mother. As much as I love you, your sister, and your brother. But…”
“No!” Elsianna shook her head. “That man said something about me having a third mother. What was that about?”
“I… I honestly don’t know.” Selena admitted honestly. “The thing is…” Slowly, she exhaled a breath, trying to choose her words carefully. “Sometimes… no… Some people where mommy works… No… Okay!” She clapped her hands together, trying to get herself to focus on the blasted task. “You want to be a wrestler someday right?”
“Yes.” Elsianna nodded. “Like you and mom.”
“Right. Well…” Selena tilted her head. “The thing is… as a wrestler… the better you get, the harder you are to beat. And the harder you are to beat, the more people are going to look for other ways to beat you. And sometimes, such people are so desperate to do that that they will hurt the ones you love and care for as a way of hurting you. Does that make sense?”
“Like…” Elsianna tilted her head. “Like Lex Luther or something?”
“YES!” Selena proclaimed in relief. “Like Lex Luther! Big bad guy! Gods, I should have lead with that!” she added at the end, more towards herself than her twelve-year-old daughter. “Some people, Elsianna, will do and say whatever they can to hurt me.”
“Why?”
A huff escaped Selena as she shook her head, settling on the simplest answer. “Because I’m better than them? Cause I’m in their way?” she turned her head to gaze her daughter. “Because I’m a threat? It can be any reason really. But even so, what that man did to you – calling you and doing that – it was wrong. There is no justifying it. It was sick and VERY wrong and he will pay for it. I promise.”
“So… you still care about mom?”
“Of course I do.” Selena nodded.
“And you still…” Elsianna shrugged, offering another glance at her mother. “Still want to be married to her?”
Selena opened her mouth to speak, but no sound initially came out. Just tell her the truth. she told herself. It doesn’t change anything, but it’ll make her feel better.
Slowly, the platinum-blonde released a slow sigh. “Yes, Elsa, okay?” she gave a sad smile, nodding her head. “I still love your mother and I still want to be married to her.”
“So…” Elsianna gave a shrug. “Why don’t you? I mean… have us all live together again?”
“Because…” Selena started before smiling sadly to herself before shaking her head. “These are all really big adult questions for a big adult conversation, and I know it’s past your bedtime.”
“But…” the child began to protest but, just as quickly, quieted herself, perhaps because she did not wish to push her luck anymore than she already had. “Okay.” She finally settled on saying, pushing herself off the bed and making her way back towards the door she had entered in the first place. Stopping at the doorway, she glanced back at her mother. “Thanks, mother.”
“No problem, sweetheart.” Selena offered with smile, waiting till her daughter was long gone and the castle hall was silent once more before falling back onto the bed, releasing a long exhale from her lungs.
“What the hell have you gotten yourself into, Selena?” she whispered to herself.
She honestly had no idea. Between Deanna being confusing as hell these last few days, Elsianna being distant and troubled by Mason’s foul words, and Mason being… well, Mason… The Snow Queen honestly didn’t know which way to go or what to do. She needed to deal with Mason, that much was certain. She knew her neck couldn’t take many more piledrivers. Just like she knew her family couldn’t take much more of these invasions from bitter SCW superstars simply trying to be what she was.
That’s why I have to end this. she told herself as she gazed out the window towards the dark skies of the night, almost seeing Dusseldorf waiting for her. Because I don’t think my family can take much more of this…
And, if she were honest with herself inside that castle… the idea of her family breaking.
Her daughters. Her son. Even Deanna… breaking like never before…all because of her…
That was the one thing she feared more than anything else.

The Royal Letter
Dear Blake Mason,
Seems like you and I have just run out of time, haven’t we? I mean, after months… and months… of playing our hands, things just can’t be held off anymore, can they? You and me? We’re not heading for a dogfight in Dusseldorf. No, no, no…. you and me? We’re going to war! Cause that’s what this whole thing has ESCALATED to!
So… let me ask you one simple question to get this started, Mason… do you believe?!
Cause you seem to think you’ve got me worked up to the point that I can’t think straight. You seem to think you’ve got me so mad that I can’t function outside of brutality, but let’s not get it confused here!
You may be the reason my sister-in-law needs a new shrubbery and window, but I’M the reason you’ve not won a match in months! You may be the one that picked up a cellphone and made a phone call, but I AM the one that made sure you aren’t the world champion!
And the fact of the matter is, after all of that? I am done waiting for you. I am done waiting for you to get in this ring and take the beating that you deserve. Because I’ve had to listen to you week after week try and shift the blame onto me. Try and tell everyone, including my twelve-year-old daughter, that this is ‘my fault’.
My fault, Blake?! My fault?!
Let’s just go back a little bit. Just a couple of months ago! Right after Rise to Greatness, you come back to wrestle and claim to be ‘the next world champion’, unoriginal as that promise is – kind of sure you did the same thing last time you came back after Katya fired your ass, but still, when has ‘originality’ ever been your strong suit? You seem to just like following the ‘cookie-cutter’ method that guys like Xander, Vixen Cain, Chris Cannon and countless seem to like to do when they dealt with me in the past, but I digress…
You came back into SCW for the umpteenth time… and I didn’t give a crap. You wanted the SCW world title… couldn’t have cared less for you, Blake. Know why? Well, first of all because I figured you’d never succeed. Second of all, because it didn’t matter to me. The world title is going to be mine eventually, whether you, Hudson, Xander, Konrad or anyone likes it or not. That’s a set thing – that’s written in stone! So what did I care if you were running around going after it?
Point is: I wasn’t the least bit concerned or caring about Blake Mason. Sure as hell wasn’t running in with lead pipes ready to bash your head in.
So, remind me, Mr. Narrative. What changed? Did I do something? Did I just say “you know who needs a beating? Blake Mason!”. No… I didn’t. You did. You decided to get involved in my business and you piledrove me into the ground and cost me the Trios Finals at Apocalypse. You cost me a Trios Contract!
So, I cost you the world title. Which inevitably lead us to the Elimination Chamber. And there, you had your chance, Blake. You had your chance to beat me. You had your chance to surge ahead and be the next contender for the world title… but, again, much like this entire return of yours, things just didn’t seem to go your way, did they?
But again, the matter was settled. You got your ass kicked by me and by Polly! THAT should have been the end of it! But again, you showed your hand about just how far this was going to go. You decided to make things more personal. You laughed at my wife’s pain and issues as you revealed yourself to be behind the attack on her and her sister’s home. You piledrove me for a SECOND time at Fatal Fortunes after I had competed in an Ironwoman match! Again, Mason, you want to claim this is MY fault when you’re the one making the opening shots! You’re the one making things personal. I didn’t give a damn about Blake Mason! I didn’t give a damn about ‘The Blake Mason Experience’!
But now… you’ve made me give a damn! And there’s really only one thing that needs to be settled before I stop talking and do what I am the best at. Beating down and dominating my opponent… and that thing that needs to be settled… is why.
Cause, I’ve been wrapping my brain around it, Blake. I’ve been thinking about it up and down and, quite frankly, it just doesn’t make sense. You want to know what WOULD have made sense? You just challenging me to a match!
I mean think about it, old man. You didn’t have to go about this by piledriving me. You didn’t have to get my attention by staging some home invasion. No! All you had to do was come right up to me and say “Hey! Frost! I want your spot in the world title rankings! You and me in the ring!”
I could have respected that! I could have understood – hell, I’ll say it – I could have believed that! Because it’s understandable. It’s believable. Much as Hudson wants to cry “It should be me!” week in and week out. Much as Xander wants to cry “I’m the World Champion!” week in and week out in some attempt to convince himself, there is a reason that neither of them can get my name out of their mouths. Why Xander keeps talking about me. Why Hudson keeps talking about me. Why Konrad keeps talking about me! Because there is only one person in SCW that is the rightful contender for the SCW world title… and it’s me.
The winner of the Elimination Chamber!
The Wrestler of the Year!
They know it, the SCW Universe knows it, and you know it, Blake. So I would have understood you coming after me, demanding a match after the chamber and us settling things in the ring. I’d get you wanting to take my spot. My spot’s what people want! Because while Xander needs the world title to stay at the top, I don’t. While Hudson needs the world title to stay relevant, I don’t. While Konrad needs the world title just to show the world he still exists? I don’t. I’m still the greatest person here in SCW. I’m still the greatest superstar in SCW history! And the list of people that want my spot is numerous, Blake.
So, if all you had to do was ask for a match… why the hell didn’t you? Just do what Hudson did. Just follow the other ‘old one-hit wonders’ that flitted in and out of SCW did. Fight me, get lucky in a single match like Hudson, like Allocco, like Cid Turner and beat me and watch your stock skyrocket! It happened to all of them for months afterwards. One win against Selena Frost? Instant fame! That’s all you had to do! You didn’t have to be an accomplice to arson. You didn’t have to harass a twelve-year-old. All you had to do was beat me.
So whhhhyyyy didn’t you?
…
Because you know you can’t, don’t you, Blake? You know that, even on my worst day, I will beat the holy hell out of you! And the funny thing about that is, I know exactly when you made that realization! Cause I sat back and studied you for Dusseldorf. I went back and watched your matches. I watched our Elimination Chamber match back at Under Attack.
And it was there, Blake, where you faked your injury and were lead out of the ring by the SCW staff – when you looked back on me and Evans in the ring? That was it, wasn’t it, Blake? That was when you realized that you would NEVER be world champion as long as Selena Frost was in SCW. That I was competing at a level that you could never touch on your own ability.
That’s when you started playing a different hand… a different game.
Because that’s the difference between us, Blake. Good or bad, I have always settled my issues here in this ring – in MY ring! I don’t drag families into this. I don’t go after loved ones. I hold my opponents accountable to their actions and I deal with them in the squared circle. Know why? Cause I know I’m more than good enough to beat anyone on my own. I’m more than good enough to take down anyone and everyone and put them in their place! Go ask your little ‘War Machine’ Brittany Lohan if you don’t believe me on that score!
But see, this where things come to a head, Blake. Because while you think you’ve got me with this ‘new’ strategy of yours – this ‘if I can’t beat her on my own, I’m going to do whatever it takes to do it’… there is NOTHING new about this strategy. Yeah, maybe it worked for you long ago when you had Bree Lancaster with you and sneaked around inside a roofed cage by pinning Kelcey Wallace and not me, but do you think I learned nothing in those years, Blake? You think nobody else has done what you have done to me?
Again, Xander Valentine. Chris Cannon. Vixen Cain. Kelcey Wallace. These are all names I KNOW that you know – especially the last one since I actually managed to beat Kelcey Wallace where you couldn’t. You were her final match right? And she beat your ass! But to this day, she can’t say she’s beaten mine in this ring – Hall of Famer and icon that she is and will always be…
And the list goes on! Ravyn Taylor, Regan Street, The Brand, countless superstars that decided the best way to get to me would be to go after my family. The best way to mess with my head would be to go after my loved ones.
Where are they now, Blake? Where’s Cannon? Where’s Vixen? Where am I?
That one I can answer. I’m still here while most of them aren’t! I’m still the best there is while all of them aren’t! Because this is a road, this is a strategy that I am VERY familiar with! This is a plan that I KNOW how to deal with, you son of a bitch! And the solution is as simple as your mind is, Blake!
Complete and utter humiliation. Specifically, yours!
See, I’m not concerned about this match, Blake, oh no. Like I said, you and me? We’re going to war. I’m making an example out of you. This is a rare thing. For the first time since my return a year ago, someone is stupid enough to go after the family of The Blue-Eyed Devil. And while ‘The Snow Queen’ would just beat your ass until the point was made, Blake… that’s not how I operate now. No, The Blue-Eyed Devil – the greatest world champion in SCW – doesn’t stop until she is satisfied. Doesn’t stop until she’s had enough.
And with you, Blake? That’s not going to happen right away. It’s not. Maybe you’ve not been paying attention these past few months, but this is the “Wild West” now for SCW – even if the ‘bringer of it’ failed miserably at maintaining it. This IS the Wild West, Blake, and in this version of SCW? I want my pound of flesh for what you did. You get me? You understand?
Because I WANT you to understand, Blake. I want you to get this. Because, as smart as you seem to be and certainly claim to be… I don’t understand why you think this was EVER a good idea, Blake. Why you think THIS route was EVER a good idea.
I mean, you’ve been in and out of this business time and time again. You’ve tried for the world title time and time again. And every chance, every return, every time you’ve tried to ‘stand out’? It’s been failure after failure after failure, Blake. Because you’re not built for this game, Blake. You’re not built for the level of excellence that I have pushed SCW to – that I have THRIVED under. And you clearly know that. You clearly know the difference between us… yet you decide to put me in a position where… I basically have no choice but to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt, but to utterly destroy you.
I have no choice, Blake! You should have left well enough alone but you didn’t and now? I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do because of who I am! Because of the mother I am, because of the wrestler I am, because of the woman I am. You look at me and see SCW revolving around me. The world champion and the contenders? The Board of Directors? The SCW Universe? They all revolve around me, Blake, and that’s what you see but you never asked yourself how or why that is! Why it came to be that way. How it is that way.
It's because of what I can do in that squared circle. It’s because of what I become when I am in that ring. I HUMBLE men like Xander. I humiliate people like James Evans! And I destroy people like you, Blake!
So… I suggest you hang on good and tight to the rocket that’s shooting you up the card, Blake. And while that’s happening, I suggest you take a moment to think about all you did to get to this point. Because, in Dusseldorf? That rocket? It’s not going to take you to the moon. No… it’s going to explode. It’s going to light you up and burn you down. And all that’s going to be left is you broken…bleeding… beaten… with NOTHING to show for all your efforts.
And the one thing you realized months ago will be truer than ever before: You will NEVER be SCW World champion, Blake Mason… simply because I am here.
Whether you want to believe it… or not.
Sincerely,
Selena Michelle Frost
