Kimberly Williams has had a sneaking suspicion as to who attacked her from behind a few weeks ago on Breakdown. Those suspicions have seemingly been confirmed with the release of Dexter Grant’s latest propaganda piece calling her out. It definitely makes sense for someone like Grant, who is vehemently opposed to social media, with his strong desire to disconnect, to target The Woman Scorned. Kimberly has made an impact off of social media. She has gained the spotlight and interest of wrestlers, promotions, and, more importantly, fans from all over the world thanks to her use of social media. Her photoshoots, her merchandise sales, her People’s Bunkhouse Stampede Poll over Twitter…or is that X now…all of this would definitely make The Queen of the Death Match a target for someone as deranged and obsessed as Dexter Grant. What Dexter Grant does not know is that Kimberly can be just as deranged and obsessed when she wants to be and she can be far more dangerous than him. In fact, he could ask Colleen MacDonald just how dangerous Kimberly can be. Kim and Colleen went through a violent, bloody series of matches over the SCW Underground Championship. Now they are teaming up together for Breakdown live from Miami to take on Dexter Grant and his partner, The Monster Machine Enigma. This is the very definition of strange bed fellows. Kimberly and Colleen are no strangers to one another, they have gone to war against each other, but now they have to work together. Dexter Grant hates anyone who uses social media and thus he is likely to detest his tag team partner, who gladly engages in social media activity. And Enigma, well, he doesn’t like much of anything or anyone. Kimberly hopes that she and Colleen have gained at least some level of respect for one another to give them the ability to work together long enough to put down this unique pairing of a tag team. A victory here could help The Woman Scorned in her battle with Dexter Grant, a battle that could result in her becoming Adrenaline Champion if she plays her cards right.
Her current wrestling affair isn’t the only problem The Woman Scorned is dealing with right now. She was recently invited by a strange new friend, Camilla Aldridge, to join an organization known as the Athenian Fellowship. Ordinarily Kim would not care to socialize with wealthy snobs like those in this Athenian Fellowship, but her interest was peaked when she learned from Camilla that Kim’s grandfather, Bart Jones was once a member. Kim wants to get to know more about her late grandfather, she wants to feel close to him, and this could be her way to do just that. Still, this whole organization raises red flags. It strikes Kim as a cult, but Camilla claims it isn’t a cult. She says it is a secret society. What raised further red flags is that Angelica Jones, Bart’s daughter and Kim’s mother, has no recollection of Bart ever being a member of this group. Angelica has never even heard of the group. Kim is still lost about whether or not she can trust Camilla and this organization, but she does want to know more about her grandfather and if this connects to him in some way, she wants to get closer. There is still one other individual she can seek out, who she can trust, and who has experience with seedy, shady cults.
Her identical twin sister, Marie Jones.
The living room of Marie Jones’s elegant Boston home gleamed with quiet sophistication. Floor-to-ceiling windows along one side of the room invited in soft shafts of golden afternoon light, which spilled across the pale hardwood floors and the gentle cream hues of the custom-made sectional sofa. A delicate glass coffee table stood at the center of the room, atop a muted Persian-style rug in faded blue and ivory. A single abstract painting in shades of rose gold and charcoal hung above the mantle, tying the entire room together with effortless grace. In the middle of this carefully cultivated living room was The Woman Scorned herself Kimberly Williams. Curled up on one end of the sofa with her legs tucked beneath her and a throw blanket draped haphazardly across her lap, Kim looked entirely at ease, as though she’d been born in that very spot. Her long red hair was unbrushed but radiant, cascading in lazy waves over her shoulders and falling across the black Wasley the penguin logo t-shirt she wore. The sleeves were rolled up just enough to reveal her slender arms, one of which loosely cradled her well loved plush penguin, Wasley. Kim wore a pair of ripped jeans with sneakers that had once been white but were now more of a soft gray from constant wear. Her fingernails were painted black.
The contrast between the two sisters could not have been more stark when her identical twin entered the picture. Marie Jones entered the room carrying a pair of drinks on a small polished silver tray. She moved with elegance and precision, every step measured, her posture perfect. Her long red hair, nearly identical in color to Kim’s, had been brushed to a flawless shine and styled into soft waves that framed her delicate features. She wore a high-waisted cream skirt and a rose-colored blouse that tied at the neck in a soft bow, the sleeves billowing slightly around her wrists before tapering at the cuffs. Her makeup was subtle but immaculately done. A slim gold bracelet circled one wrist, catching the light as she gently set the tray down on the coffee table. One glass held a rich burgundy pour of wine, the other a soda in a tall glass with ice clinking lightly against the sides. Her presence added to the sense of order in the room, a natural extension of the décor; elegant, deliberate, and polished. And yet her expression, as she glanced over at her sister curled up on the couch with the well-worn penguin plushie, softened with something more tender. A familiar fondness lingered in her eyes despite the obvious differences between them. As Marie lowered herself gracefully into the armchair opposite Kim, the sunlight caught in her wine glass, casting red-tinged patterns across the table. Kim’s soda fizzed gently beside it, untouched for the moment, as she adjusted Wasley in her arms and turned to look at her sister.
“Thanks for the drink!” Kim says happily, leaning over to pick up the soda. She takes a sip. Marie smiles warmly.
“Of course. I’m just glad for your company. It’s always good to have you over. It’s a shame your nephew won’t be here to see you.”
“How is Sean?” Kim asks.
“He’s doing well.” Marie nods her head. “Still learning the ropes overseas at the Braddock Wrestling School. And yes, it is still a major adjustment for me to be away from him.”
“It’s good for you.” Kim states. “It’s good for both of you. You can’t be overprotective, you have to cut the apron strings at some point. That was the mistake our mother made.”
“You’re right.” Marie nods her head. “What about you? How is SCW?”
“I have a new playmate.” Kim grins knowingly. “Dexter Grant.”
“The Adrenaline Champion?” Marie arches her brow. Kim nods her head in confirmation. “So championship gold is in your future?”
“Maybe. He wants to disconnect me, make me cease to exist, some other murdery or death innuendo. I’m pretty sure he was the dope who attacked me backstage a few weeks ago. But that’s fine, if he wants to pick a fight with me let him. He hasn’t dealt with someone as crazy as me yet.”
“I take it you already have a plan.”
“Me? A plan?” Kim snickers. “Do I look like the kind of girl who makes a plan? All I can tell you is that Dex is gonna regret messing with me. This week’s Breakdown is just a taste of things to come.”
“What’s this week?” Marie asks as she sips her wine.
“I’m teaming with Ol’ MacDonald to face Dexter and Monster Machine.”
“Wait a sec, you and Colleen?” Marie looks surprised. Kim smirks knowingly. “How the hell are you two supposed to get along after the wars you have been through against one another?!”
“Oh you know me, sis! My best friends in life are people who I have tried to kill and, in turn, have tried to kill me. You…Abi…Deanna…Striker…hell, I am even starting to warm up to Jimbo Evans.”
“You have to be kidding me.” Marie rolls her eyes.
“Nope. And Colleen is no different. Trust me, we will be best pals going into Breakdown this week and we’ll carnage in our wake! It’ll be glorious!”
“I just hope you know what you’re doing.”
Marie sighs and sips on her wine. Kimberly adjusts her position on the sofa to get comfortable. She strokes her penguin, Wasley, gently. She knows that she has more important business to discuss than just simply SCW Breakdown.
“Oh I do.” Kim says. “But, actually, I didn’t really come here to talk shop about SCW.”
“Oh?” Marie arches her brow curiously. “What’s on your mind?”
“Well…” Kim grins with mischief in her eyes “...I was hoping you could me some advice about cults.”
“Cults?!”
“Yeah!” Kim nods her head excitedly. “I mean, you DO know all about them. You know cults so well, right?” The Woman Scorned winks playfully. Marie sighs out of frustration as she sets her wine glass down.
“You didn’t have to put it like that.”
“Come on, sis, you are the ONLY member of this family to have joined a cult. So you kinda are the expert on cults in the family.”
Kim is referencing Marie’s time spent as a member of the Inner Peace Enlightenment Retreat. It was sold to her as a way of dealing with the grief and trauma of her then fiance, Arthur, killing himself. Only later did she learn that it was nothing but a front for a sick and twisted sex cult with its leader, Raul Alfaro, using the members as his own personal harem. Marie Jones only recently put this ordeal in her past. She shakes her head.
“Still, you didn’t have to say it like that. Inner Peace was a very traumatic time for me.”
“Sorry, Marie, but you know me.” Kim winks playfully. “I have no filter.”
“I know that all too well.” Marie rolls her eyes. “Well what is it? What do you need to know about cults that supposedly only I can help you with?”
“You’re gonna love it.” Kim grins from ear to ear. “I might be joining a cult!”
“What?!” Marie exclaims. Kim bursts into laughter.
“Ok, well maybe…maybe not…” she shrugs her shoulders “...not sure yet, to be perfectly honest.”
“Cut the crap and tell me what’s going on.” Marie says very sternly, almost like a parent lecturing a child.
“Fine. Remember when I drove that Karen lady absolutely bonkers and made her move away just to get away from me?”
“Yes, I remember.” Marie nods her head.
“Well the entire community loved me for it. Especially the wealthier members of the homeowner’s association. I really got the attention of an older woman named Camilla Aldridge.”
“Who is that?”
“No idea.” Kim shrugs her shoulders. “Just some wealthy lady who apparently hated Karen as much as I did. She was so impressed with how I drove Karen away that she decided to spoil me rotten. Took her to this fancy restaurant she owns, practically let me have the run of the place. Treated me like damn royalty. It was great!”
“Just what you need, new friends.” Marie chuckles lightly. “But what does that have to do with a cult?”
“That’s another thing…Camilla is part of this group…she calls it a secret society…called The Athenian Fellowship. She says they are just a group of wealthy friends in the neighborhood who get together, socialize, and do the occasional good deed for the community. She even said our grandfather was a member.”
“Really?” Marie is now interested. Kim shrugs her shoulders.
“Maybe. I asked mom but she says she had never heard of the Athenian Fellowship and she definitely doesn’t think he would have joined a secret society because the Church prohibits membership.”
“She is right about that.” Marie says with a sigh. “Membership in any secret society, such as the freemasons for example, is prohibited. Our grandfather was a practicing Catholic so he wouldn’t have joined.”
“Unless he wasn’t as good a Catholic as we were led to believe.” Kim winks. “But what do you think about the Athenian Fellowship?”
“I don’t know what to say, Kim. I mean, I’ve never heard of them either. I think the real question here is about trust.” She points a finger at Kim. “Do you trust Camilla and do you trust this group?”
“I trust no one.” Kim shakes her head. “And after that whole situation with Inner Peace, I definitely don’t trust any groups with secrets.”
“Then maybe that’s your answer?” Marie suggests. “If your gut is telling you to stay away then stay away.”
“But Camilla and her pals don’t strike me as dangerous or threatening. They just strike me as eccentric rich people with nothing better to do.” Kim smirks. “Besides, if there is even the slimmest chance that there is a legit connection between our grandfather and this organization, then I want to be a part of it.”
“Kim…” Marie pauses for a moment as she collects her thoughts “...I know how bad you want to learn about Bart.”
“No, you don’t.” Kim shakes her head. “You did spend time with him. He was gone by the time I was back in the picture. I spent a long time getting to know our dad’s family and everything I learned about him makes sense. He is a monster and I have a monster buried deep down inside of me.”
“But you’re not a monster, Kim.” Marie says. “Surely you know this by now.”
“My mind knows it but my heart doesn’t. This is why getting to know our grandfather is so important. I need to know more about him, I need to know feel a connection to him, something that maybe can redeem me.”
“You’re crazy if you think you need redeeming.” Marie hugs her tightly. “But you’re my sister and I support you no matter what.”
“Great!”
“But you’re right.” Marie sighs after breaking the embrace. “I do know a thing or two about cults, or secret societies, whatever. And they can be very dangerous. So if you do decide to pursue this further, just be very careful.”
