MANY WEEKS AGO
(Over the course of the past couple of months, and especially since Taking Hold of the Flame, Bekah and Owen’s relationship had grown closer, as the two of them put aside old grudges, and worked on making Bekah battle ready for the moment her dream was realized and an SCW contract was in her possession. Her performance in the battle royal had opened a few eyes to her, but SCW still hadn’t come forward, which had disappointed her. Owen had made it clear; she’d made an impact and to be patient. Over the course of the weeks, she had picked things up quickly, and as far as Owen was concerned, she was ready to at least compete on a playing field that would make her competitive. The issue was, she was stepping foot in a company where competitiveness wouldn’t be enough, especially with the buzzards circling around her name. At the end of a session with one of the Next Level coaches, Owen calls her over, throwing a bottle of water in her direction and asking her to take a seat which she does. After she had caught her breath and taken a drink, Owen opens the conversation with a smile.)
Owen: So, how are you feeling… I know Matt hasn’t taken it easy on you so how’s the aches and pains holding up?
Bekah: I feel great, stronger and faster by the day.
Owen: It shows, you’ve got some movement out there. Fast, elusive… you remind me a lot of myself.
Bekah: Yeah.
Owen: For sure. Shaun went more down the power route like Dad, though he was more than capable technically. Like me when I started, the plan was to not let anyone catch me. Reckon it will work for you too.
Bekah: If I get the call.
(Owen smiles as reassuringly as he can.)
Owen: Look Bekah, these things take time and now might not be the right time for SCW to take a chance on you. I mean, there are other options…
Bekah: No, it’s got to be SCW. I’m not interested in competing anywhere else, and SCW is the best of the best. If I’m going to make it, it must be there.
Owen: OK, I hear you. But in that case, you must be patient and let things pan out. CHBK is aware of you, and he deals with all the hiring and firing. You performed admirably at Taking Hold of the Flame and that will put you in good stead. Once he finds a spot, he’ll call you up, and when he does, you have to be ready.
Bekah: I will be
Owen: Good. It’ll happen Bekah, you’re too good for it not too. And I cannot wait to see how far you go. Apart from Kloe in IWC, there’s never been a female Cruze really established themselves unless you count Taylor when she was married to Dad and it would be nice to see it happen.
Bekah: I won’t let anyone down, especially the name.
Owen: My advice to that?
Bekah: Sure
Owen: Try not to get hung up on the name too early. You’re not trying to be Dad, or Shaun or even the exceptional Owen Cruze…
Bekah: Dick
Owen: No, but seriously. It’s easy to get hung up on something you are supposed to be and forget about who YOU are. You are a Cruze and there is no denying that… but who is Bekah? That is what you should concentrate on more than anything. Do that, and everything else will fall into place. And if you see anyone talking about rabbit holes… stay away from them.
(Bekah didn’t fully understand the reference, but it was Owen harking back when his name was put fully into the spotlight by Giovanni, a time that so very nearly destroyed him.)
Owen: When it happens, it’s all about taking it one match at a time. CHBK won’t be signing you because you are a Cruze, he’ll be signing you because you impressed him. Keep impressing him, focus on who you are, and the opportunities will follow. And keep close to Shaun, because no one knows this business and how it works better than he does.
(She understood the logic, but all Bekah wanted was to feel that adrenaline pumping again like she had at Taking Hold of the Flame, and drink in the reaction once more that she received as she had headed down to the ring, not knowing what was to happen next. Even her elimination had felt like something special, her inexperience cost her at the crucial time. Another piece of learning she would never forget. She wanted to be patient, does as she was told, but at the same time, all she wanted to do was compete regularly.)
Bekah: Talking of Shaun, has he said anything to you.
Owen: What about you?
Bekah: No, I mean I know you guys are close, I thought he might have talked to you about SCW, and how it is right now.
Owen: Delarosso?
Bekah: Yeah
(Owen sighs, he had spoken with Shaun at great length, Owen although younger seen as an ideal sounding board to the elder Cruze.)
Owen: It’s a story as old as time to be honest Bekah. In Dad’s Day, all the way through to present, there has always been people that think they can do better than the established order. Frank is no different. He has his own ideas about the way things work. He thinks that by tricking people to side with him, he’ll take over the company and mold it in his own image. But the thing is, people like that, they are blinded by their own egos, and they don’t see the build up within their own little groups. Take Delarosso for instance… he’s put Bree and Gavin in the same group as Polly, three names that undeniably only want the spotlight for themselves. They don’t care about Frank, only what he can apparently bring them, and yes… for a short while, perhaps they will find some success. But eventually, those egos get the better of them, someone is put out, and the whole group implodes. That is EXACTLY what is going to happen here. Shaun knows that and that’s why he had nothing to do with Frank’s bullshit. He’ll ride it out and take them all down one by one till they topple like a line of dominos.
Bekah: But…
(She hesitates, not wanting to talk out of turn.)
Owen: No, it’s OK, what do you want to say?
Bekah: He’s not… I hate saying this.
Owen: Go on.
Bekah: He’s not the Shaun he once was.
(Surprisingly, Owen smiles and doesn’t seem upset with the comment at all.)
Owen: No, he’s not the same Shaun that won the World Championship over a decade ago. And you know what, he hasn’t reached the standards he did back then.
(Owen points to his temple.)
Owen: But up here Bekah, I promise you that there is no one better. And there isn’t a single person in that company that can tolerate pain or have the heart he does to succeed. He’s been through a lot with Angyalka, and his finances and this business right now are all he has. And you know what? Watching him, he is still more than capable of beating anyone on that roster, and I include the World Champion in that. If he starts getting that momentum… well, you’ll see how he got the name ‘Impact Player’ in the first place.
Bekah: But he can’t fight off everyone can he? No matter how good he might be
(This was a comment that the Cruze family had received on many occasions. They’d been told so many times that the odds where unsurmountable, only to come out the other side.)
Owen: Well, when we’ve got you on board, he won’t have to will he? Until then, he’s more than capable of holding the fort.
(She wasn’t sure, and even from talking to Shaun himself, Shaun wasn’t certain that eventually, Frank and his minions wouldn’t overpower him. She knew that it was frustrating for Shaun because all he wanted to do was compete, and yet like always he had been brought into this battle for so-called morality. It had been the core of what his career had been built on, and it seems that this kind of trouble always managed to find him.)
Bekah: What if he didn’t have to?
Owen: What do you mean?
Bekah: What if he had ALL his family behind him?
(The realization of what she was saying hits home almost immediately.)
Owen: Bekah, I…
Bekah: No, just hear me out for a minute. Recent events have got me thinking, over the years whether it be IWC, ULW or SCW, which family has always been there, trying to do what is right for this industry? Dad, Shaun, you… besides a few moments here and there, you all fought the good fight, and built this ‘legacy’ that I’m expected to now uphold. You three all won titles, claimed your accomplishments, took the applause, but if you asked yourself the truth, it was never really about that was it? It was because all three of your fought for this business, sometimes to the detriment of your personal lives… especially Dad. What if, we went to CHBK and told him that we wanted the Cruze family legacy not to be about what we won, but instead what we accomplished. And one more time, cleaned up this business so that true competitors can find their own way instead of needing a handout from someone like Frank Delarosso. With the whole family there, watching each other’s backs, we would have the numbers.
Owen: The problem is Bekah, I’m done. I promised Jennifer that as far as I was concerned, I would never compete again. I mean to keep that promise.
Bekah: But can’t you see, you wouldn’t have to compete, you’d just have to be there, once a week, in the background just in case it all went south. I’m sure all Jennifer wants is for you to be happy. Are you really going to be happy seeing Shaun and I being handed our asses every week trying to do the right thing, and you unable to do something about it?
Owen: You’ve really thought this through, haven’t you?
Bekah: Dad always told me it’s not always about being the best at something, it’s about how you are remembered. And isn’t that what legacy really is? I know Shaun would love you by his side, and I know I would. Let’s give the fans something to REALLY remember, the sight of us all standing there together. One family. One legacy.
Owen: If I do this, Jenni will have to give her full approval. I’m not doing this without her being on board.
Bekah: Totally understand that
Owen: And I’m only there… a presence.
Bekah: Absolutely.
Owen: OK, I’ll see what she says and then speak to Shaun. If both are ok with it, I’m in.
Bekah: YES!!!
Owen: You’re very persuasive do you know that?
Bekah: You met my Mum, right?
(Owen chuckles)
Owen: I most definitely did. But you are still forgetting one thing… you still need that contract
Bekah: Like you say… I just must be patient. And anyway, how could he resist having all the Cruze’s under one roof at the same time. The ratings will skyrocket.
Matt: BEKAH… come on, breaks over.
(Bekah nods, turning back to Owen.)
Bekah: No rest for the wicked.
(She heads back, leaving Owen alone with his thoughts, a smirk forming on his face.)
Owen: She’s just like you Dad.
(Scene fades.)

“It’s been a hectic couple of weeks. What with me running out to help Shaun when Gavin got the hired help to bail him out, and then Owen surprised the world with his return. To last week, me confirming that my contract to compete is now in place, thanks CHBK, and Owen making it clear he is back as well. No denying, it’s been an ‘impactful’ start to the new season. And the best bit, we have only just gotten started.”
(Bekah nods her head and she considers her next words.)
“See, over the last few months you have heard Shaun talk a lot of legacy with regards to the Cruze family. And there is no doubt, that name harks back to so many times when my dad, Shaun and of course Owen had so much success. But even though I’m new to this whole experience, that doesn’t mean to say I was blinker to what truly builds a legacy. What you are remembered FOR.”
(She pauses to allow that sentiment to sink in before continuing.)
“If you look back through history, there are no doubt individual that are remembered for winning things. Individuals that made their mark. If I asked that question right now, an open question to anyone listening, I’m sure you would all have your opinions. But when you break it all down, why are they remembered? Is it because they were plastered all over your television screens as a champion? Or was it because they actually did something that legitimately helped this industry? Most people take the plaudits, but they never give back. It’s all about them, and nothing else. Owen tried, you all remember the Perfect Pack right? But he was way too young to be burdened with that responsibility. Legacy, is what you are remembered for. The Cruze family want to be remembered for not only giving back… but also cleaning up the mess.
This is where you come in Fred.
Now OK, you’ve been here a while now, and are a part of the Konrad Raab brain trust, but believe it or not, I’m not going to hold that against you. I’m not even going to comment on any of your friends who saw fit to do Frank’s bidding the other weeks because his own hired hands had proven incapable. I’m not even going to say you are a shitty wrestler, with a shitty name and an even shittier name for your little band of brothers that was no doubt compiled using Konrads single brain cell he had left. No Fred, what I am going to do is focus on something you said a few weeks back that caught my eye when you were facing the Glimmer Sisters. I quote, the fact is women in wrestling to be honest make me sick the most because I've legit never ever seen any female wrestler that takes the wrestling business seriously, not one. You said that right? Seeing as there is video footage, I’m going to move on with my point, assuming that you wouldn’t make yourself look even stupider with denial. Because not only is it one of the most chauvinistic comments that I have ever heard, which totally flies in the face of what Konrad wanted to achieve, seeing as one of the people he respects more than most is Kimberly Williams. But secondly, it’s probably one of the most incorrect statements to come out of 2026 so far, when you consider you can look over the current roster, and probably the top five successful competitors this year would be female barring a couple of exceptions.
Need a bit more to get it through your thick skull?
Syren, is probably the most successful competitor to walk these corridors. Selena Frost would be right up there as well. The current World Champion is female. The competitor she won it off, was female. I could go on and on, but I’m hoping that it’s starting to sink in now. If your comments were true, and women didn’t take this business seriously and just thought about their looks, they wouldn’t consistently achieve as much as the men. If all they were, was about their appearance, then you would see them carried out on stretchers every week. Now don’t get me wrong, you’re probably much stronger than most of the women I have mentioned. You’re proud of your physique, and no doubt hit the gym most days yeah? But tell me, where has that got you? The ‘Only Person in EFN to win a match at a PPV’ award? I mean, you might have done something spectacular that I’ve missed… this is my first match and all. But from where I sit, just like most of your group, you flap your gums A LOT but consistently fail to back it up. I know someone else like that, his name was Konrad, so I guess it figures.
But hold on…
You are accompanied by Ginny Raab? Does she not take wrestling seriously either? Is she only concerned about her looks, because from where I see it, she is legitimately trying to turn to guys into more of a force and less of a joke. Fact is, it has nothing to do with wrestling, and you are just a chauvinistic asshole, simple as. You got a girlfriend right? Olivia? Where is she? Tied to the kitchen sink? Or, as I believe, is this individual you are presenting me, just a character trying to stand out in this company? And making himself look like a walking, talking contradiction?
(A shrug of the shoulders breaks up the narrative.)
“Let me bring you fully up to speed Freddy, because I want no excuses when this little princess walks into Boston and shows you that a decent physique doesn’t necessarily mean victories against someone with the poise and speed that I possess. How’s it going to look when the rookie on her maiden voyage puts you categorically, and emphatically in your place? I take this business VERY seriously, because like Owen, I was born into it. I am only speaking to you now, because I am contracted to do so. You’re going to find something out about me on Thursday, something that I want others to take notice of. That being, I don’t use my words to prove points, or my surname to get credibility. I do that, quite simply, by putting assholes like you to the sword. Now I understand you’re a bit stupid, because your experiences in this company so far should have taught you differently, and you should be speaking to me with respect. But I think we both know that isn’t going to happen, and so instead I’m going to beat you. Or alternatively, laugh in your face when you have to send the entire Fiery fuckups to do your job. Either way Freddy, you come across as pathetic.
All this considered, and the misogynous bullshit out the way, I am going to enjoy my first foray into competition as a fully fledged member of this roster, stepping into an SCW ring for the first time, just like my family have all done in the past. I want to make one thing abundantly clear before I go. I know, I’m a Cruze. I’m proud to be a Cruze. But if you think you know me simply because of that fact, I advise every single person in this company to think again. I know I have so much to learn. I know I have so much to prove. But unlike Freddy’s beliefs, I have all the desire in the world to do both those things and do myself proud. And be a part of a legacy that never stops loving this industry, and always, ALWAYS gives back. With that in mind and with all due respect, last words for you Frederick. I’m nobodies pretty little thing dude. I am pretty, for sure, but it’s not going to define me. What will define me is kicking your ass all over Boston, over the state line and all the way back to whenever in Europe you came from. Italy isn’t it? So let me finish with this. You’re a real ‘Pisa’ work. There is more than enough ‘Rome’ for females in this industry.”
(She chuckles to herself.)
“All funny stuff, but when I hit that ring, ‘Amore’ than capable of beating you. So ‘Penne’ for your thoughts?
(A final smile, the smile of someone really enjoying themselves, though the time for joking was almost over.)
“The time for talking is over, the time for joking also over. I won’t be joking around on Thursday, you’ll see. You know what, actually I think I’ve got time for one more.”
(She chuckles one more time.)
“Pasta la Vista, baby.”
(Scene fades.)
