“Supreme Championship Wrestling...”
A shot of Kelcey Wallace nailing Bree Lancaster with the Perfect Ending,
followed by a shot of Steve Griffin hitting the Decimator off the top rope on
CHBK at the first Rise to Greatness, before turning a shot of Jake Starr
pumping up the crowd on his way to the ring, before turning into a shot of
Ravyn Taylor sitting in the corner, waiting for the start of a match. We then
see a shot of Katie Steward holding the Women’s Championship before cutting to a
shot of Selena Frost hitting Vixen Cain with the Defying Gravity at Supreme
Saturday: Just Desserts.
“The leading force in sports and entertainment today....”
MAIN SHOW:
The
scene opens up outside of the SCW headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Sharper:
“Welcome to Breakdown everyone. We are coming to you live from Toronto,
Ontario, Canada, and our CEO and acting COO, Frank Delatosso, is hosting an
emergency board meeting at the SCW head office in Toronto. Let’s go there now.”
We then
fade to the inside of the boardroom where we see the SCW Board of Directors
seated around a large table. A screen plays the SCW logo behind Frank Delatosso
who stands at the head of the table. The camera reveals a couple of familiar
faces, including Mr. D and his daughter Sasha, who remained voting members of
the board even after the sale several years ago.
Delatosso:
“Fellow members of the board, tonight is an opportunity for me to firmly show
you exactly what I believe we need to do for Supreme Championship Wrestling to
evolve to a modern market.”
Delatosso
looks around at the room.
Delatosso:
“Tonight, I have put forward a card that I think reflects that. To start, we
have a match between two individuals who could be the core of SCW going forward
– La Pequena Luz and Colleen MacDonald. Despite some differences of opinion,
their talent and their approaches are undeniable. The enter the ring, ready to
compete and with integrity.”
Delatosso
pauses again.
Delatosso:
“We have some of the bright new young stars, who I have signed by the way, like
Xaiver Holloway and Marquis Dawson, who each will be in their own matches,
fighting to work up the ladder.”
Delatosso
looks down as he paces a bit for effect.
Delatosso:
“We will see the renewal of one of the most stories rivalries that is based
solely from their desire to prove themselves in the ring…Glory Braddock and
Asher Hayes will face each other once more. Two former World Champions.”
Delatosso
then smiles.
Delatosso:
“And then we will see Bree Lancaster in her first singles match in two years.
On her birthday, no less! A champion that is exactly who we need to join those
at the top. People like Amelia Nevado, Polly Playtime, Alistaire Allocco, Gavin
Taylor, and more. People who care about competing and winning. Not holding onto
a spot by any means necessary. People who have reinvented themselves and just
needed opportunity. Bree Lancaster is a perfect example – someone who despite
being one of the greatest in SCW history has always been overshadowed by lesser
wrestlers.”
Delatosso
smiles.
Mr. D:
“Frank…it’s not secret you’ve been playing favourites. Shaun Cruze, Syren, even
Kimberly Williams…they all just want to compete-“
Delatosso:
“Syren just wanted to wish it was a decade ago. And her manager is a livewire
that shouldn’t be taken seriously. Shaun Cruze has made clear he wants to keep
people down because of his name. And don’t get me started on Kimberly Williams.
We don’t need to cater to the lowest common denominator.”
Sasha:
“To say that is an insult. SCW has always prided itself on the best competition
and offering all kinds of great competition. From the Underground to the
Adrenaline to the Heavyweights to-“
Delatosso:
“With all due respect, we need to sell ourselves to advertisers. And the
extensive gratuitous sex and violence makes that hard. Do I need to remind us
of the Glimmer controversy last year? We are a wrestling company, not a
pornography company. We are a wrestling company, not a street fight company.”
Another
boardmember speaks up.
Boardmember:
“Come on Frank. Professional wrestling has always had intense rivalries.
Humiliation is part of it. People want a psychological edge. This is something
we accept.”
Mr. D:
“Competition will always lead to people trying to find an edge.”
Delatosso:
“Jeff…D…why do need to accept it? And wasn’t that do anything nature of the
business the reason you sold SCW to step back. For your family…to protect your
family.”
Jeff:
“Meanwhile, Frank, we don’t even have confirmed the main event of the easiest
event to confirm. Rise to Greatness is a month away.”
Delatosso:
“And that will be determined tonight. The Frosts will confirm who is
challenging Amelia Nevado. Nevado is ready to compete against either. But if
there is not a clear announcement, I will void the Taking Hold of the Flame and
the Frosts can wear that indignity. Gavin Taylor, who still has a World
Championship rematch will then become the new challenger for Amelia Nevado.
Decisiveness, ladies and gentlemen. We need that. We need someone to lead us.
And that someone also shouldn’t be CHBK whenever he returns. We are capable of
not needing him or his pedigree.”
Delatosso
pauses.
Delatosso:
“Members of the board, I ask you to watch tonight as a symbol of what I can
offer directly. We don’t need to rely on the reputation of a Hall of Famer who
simply does not understand a modern product or modern demands. We don’t need to
rely on anyone…except who is in this room to take us forward to further
profitability. I have a vision. Tonight is that vision in action. After
tonight, I will ask for a vote to take place first thing Monday morning…to
relieve CHBK permanently of his duties and give me full control of the
operations of this company. Thank you…”
Delatosso
turns and walks over to a chair next to the head of the table and sits down.
“Psycho
in my Head” by Skillet plays as we see a shot of Selena Frost standing on the
stage, about to the run to the ring. We then see shots of Bree Lancaster
hitting someone with the Rectifier and Simon Lyman posing with his arms out.

maybe I'm just livin' a lie
Can't

Shots
of Asher Hayes hitting Dust to Dust on an opponent, before showing the Glimmer
Sisters posing in the ring. Glory Braddock is next shown posing, before we see
David Striker diving over the top rope and Josh Hudson standing on the stage,
smiling. Shots of Chris Dumont, Simon Lyman and the European Fiery Nation
follow, superimposed over the Breakdown logo.

Syren
is shown hitting Xander Valentine with the Total Makeover before showing the
Phantom Troupe standing in the ring talking to the crowd. Glory Braddock is
next shown hitting the London Plunge before we see The One Kirsten Scott
proudly holding the SCW Television Championship. WASLEY is next shown as
Kimberly Williams is seen smirking. The Breakdown logo flashes on the screen.

the Glimmer Sisters making her entrance. Konrad Raab punching Ace Marshall in a
steel cage is shown next, before we see Light in the Darkness hitting Wisteria
Waltz against an opponent. Lexy Chapel is then shown showing off Syren. Polly
Playtime posing follows before we see James Evans powerbombing La Pequena Luz
off the top rope.
There's
a psycho in my, there's a psycho in my head
Shots
of Deanna Frost, Ryan LeCavalier, Colleen MacDonald, Xander Valentine, and
Amelia Nevado are shown before the Breakdown logo comes up on the screen.
We then
cut to a live shot of the inside of the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario,
Canada. The crowd cheers as pyro shoots out from the base of the stage. The
display continues for a few moments before spotlights circle the arena, and the
cameras pan across the crowd for a few moments.
Sharper:
“Welcome everyone to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and tonight may be among the
most pivotal events for SCW’s future it sounds like!”
The
cameras continue to pan throughout the crowd before settling at ringside where
we see Adam Sharper joined by Jonathan Knots.
Sharper:
“Adam Sharper here at ringside alongside Jonathan Knots and tonight, we’re
seeing Delatosso’s vision in action.”
Knots:
“Exactly. Competition between some of the best. Hayes and Braddock; MacDonald
and Luz. And the singles return for Bree Lancaster?! Count me in!”
Sharper:
“We will see what this means. Delatosso continuing his power play and his
mission is simple-“
Knots:
“End the gratuitousness and it’s all in the ring!”
Bree
Lancaster vs. Crystal Zdunich
The
lights dim as a voice backed by piano music fill the arena.
{That's the price you pay.... Leave behind your heartache, cast away
Just another product of today.... Rather be the hunter than the prey
And you're standing on the edge, face up... 'cause you're a NATURAL}
As the heavy music of Imagine Dragons kicks in the lights come back up and Bree
Lancaster is standing on the stage, her arms spread wide. She's wearing an open
white leather knee length trench coat, trimmed with silver studs and a shiny
silver scarf as a belt (a Scott Burnside original of course), over her gear.
Bree looks up as white sparks shower down behind her from the top of the set to
the stage.
Phillips: “The opening contest is scheduled for onefall with a fifteen minute
time limit. First, from New Orleans, Louisiana, she is The Classet, Bree
Lancaster!”
Bree continues to hold her arms out as she makes her way down the ramp. Getting
to the ring she walks up the steps and waits for the referee to hold the ropes
open for her. Stepping inside. Bree goes to the center of the ring, arms out
wide again, and does a slow turn. Bree then goes to her corner as the music
fades, removing her coat and draping it over the turnbuckle.
Knots:
“And to make a statement, one of the standardbearers of this new vision – the
return of Bree Lancaster to Breakdown in the ring! And on her birthday! Happy
Birthday!”
Sharper:
“Bree Lancaster, a former World Champion, and no one can take away the
accolades, but you wonder if Lancaster is enjoying this additional attention.”
Knots:
“Of course and she deserves all of it! Aren’t you going to wish her a happy
birthday?!”
Sharper:
“Well yes, happy birthday, Bree.”
The
arena lights dim and the crowd buzz builds. An old vintage Hollywood countdown
appears on the screen as it begins to clock down.

Suddenly, “Like Me” by Girlicious blasts through the speakers and the arena
explodes with cheers. Spotlights sweep the stage as a group of paparazzi rush
out first, cameras flashing wildly. A red carpet is rolled down the ramp,
instantly turning the entranceway into a Hollywood premiere. A moment later,
“The Rose Goddess” Crystal Zdunich steps through the curtain in her matching
white and pink gear and she is glowing with confidence. At her side is her son,
Brayden Williams she takes his hand for a brief moment before looking out at
the crowd with a huge smile as the crowd just roars with huge cheers
Phillips: “Ladies and gentlemen being accompanied to the ring by her son
Brayden Williams… introducing from Los Angeles, California, originally from
Detroit, Michigan, she is the Rose Goddess, Crystal Zdunich!”
Crystal poses at the top of the ramp, one hand on her hip, the other blowing a
kiss to the crowd as the cameras flash. She turns slightly, hitting a few
glamorous angles for the “paparazzi,” then starts down the red carpet with a
confident, superstar strut, Brayden walking proudly beside her. Halfway down
the ramp, she stops and kneels beside a young female fan in the front row,
pulling out a single rose and handing it to her with a warm smile. The crowd
cheers loudly as Crystal points to her and nods, grabbing a nearby phone and
taking a selfie with the fan. She gives the fan a gentle wink and stands back
up, soaking in the cheers.
She continues to the ring, stopping again to pose on both sides of the ramp,
playing to the fans and letting the moment breathe. At ringside Brayden takes
his place on the side and Crystal then climbs the steps and slips between the
ropes. As the beat hits, Crystal moves to the center of the ring and drops into
a flawless split, holding the pose as the crowd pops. She rises smoothly, flips
her hair back, and strikes another confident, Hollywood-worthy pose toward the
hard camera. She steps onto the middle rope, arms spread wide, basking in the
love from the crowd—the Rose Goddess in her element—before hopping down, still
smiling, still posing, and ready for the fight.
Sharper:
“Crystal Zdunich, a veteran in her own right. You wonder what she’s thinking
given the hype around Lancaster.”
Knots:
“There’s an easy response. Step up and beat her. Prove that you deserve that
opportunity! Show off to your son. Be a good example!”
The
bell sounds. Lancaster and Zdunich look at one another and step up and lock up
in a collar and elbow tie-up in the middle of the ring. Lancaster moves into an
arm wrench. Zdunich falls to a knee and winces as Lancaster wrenches the arm
again. Zdunich grimaces and then somersaults forward and nips up and cartwheels
before moving into a side headlock. She pulls back on Lancaster as Lancaster
gets her to the ropes and fires her off. Zdunich hits the ropes and Lancaster
shoulders her down. Zdunich looks up and Lancaster runs into the ropes. Zdunich
drops down and Lancaster hops over and bounces off the other side. Zdunich
leapfrogs over Lancaster and Lancaster ducks and stops. Zdunich turns around
and Lancaster hits a dropkick. The crowd boos as Zdunich rolls over. Lancaster
gets up and poses.
Knots:
“Beautiful! Just beautiful!”
Sharper:
“Dropkick under the jaw of Crystal Zdunich, knocking her down. Perfectly
executed.”
Zdunich
pulls herself up and looks around and turns to Lancaster who refocuses and
nails Zdunich with a hard forearm. She nails her again. Zdunich falls into the
corner. Lancaster then buries her shoulder into the ribs of Zdunich before rearing
back and nailing her again and again.

Lancaster turns and grabs her and whips her across the ring. Zdunich hits the
ropes and Lancaster hits a lunging back elbow. Zdunich hits the mat. Lancaster
goes for the pin.

Zdunich
kicks out. Lancaster gets up as Zdunich turns. Lancaster grabs her and whips
her into the corner. Lancaster runs after for a spear to the ribs, but Zdunich

flip.

Lancaster
kicks out. Both get up and Lancaster goes for a clothesline, but Zdunich ducks
and then stops and turns and hits a dropkick of her own. Lancaster falls into
the corner.
Sharper:
“Zdunich fighting back. Dropkick of her own!”
Knots:
“Into the ropes. Stay away from her. Give her the break.”
Zdunich
instead nails Lancaster with a hard right and then another before pulling her
out and snapmaring her out from the ropes. She then hits a snap leg drop before
rolling off of Bree. Bree rolls over and gets up and Zdunich runs into the
ropes, bouncing off and hitting a flying headscissors. Lancaster rolls through.
She gets up and turns and Zdunich runs at her and hits a float over DDT. She
turns and hooks the leg.

Lancaster
kicks out. She rolls over and looks out a bit stunned. She gets up and Zdunich
kicks her in the ribs. She fires her into the ropes. Lancaster bounces off and
Zdunich goes to hoist her up, but Lancaster spins through and then just nails
Zdunich in the back of the head with a hard clothesline. Zdunich hits hard. She
rolls over as Lancaster walks around the ring.
Sharper:
“Oh my. A hard lariat to the back of Zdunich’s head.”
Knots:
“Welcome to the show, Zdunich. Lancaster still can turn that up in a moment!”
Zdunich
rolls over as Lancaster runs over and stomps her in the chest and then the face
a couple of times. Zdunich moves to the ropes. Lancaster drags her up and whips
her into the ropes. She bounces off and Lancaster hits a powerslam. She hooks
the leg.

Zdunich
kicks out again. Both get up and Zdunich goes for a clothesline, but Lancaster
ducks and then pulls her down with a neckbreaker. Zdunich rolls over and moves
into the corner. Lancaster gets up and runs at Zdunich and hits a running
avalanche in the corner. The crowd ohs. Zdunich staggers out and Lancaster then
hooks her up and goes for a T-bone suplex. Zdunich elbows out of it though. She
then spins around and hits the Flashing Lights. Lancaster drops down to the
mat. Crystal runs into the ropes, jumping to the middle rope and hitting a
lionsault. She hooks the leg.

Lancaster
kicks out. Crystal rolls over. She exits to the apron and climbs up to the top
rope. She turns to Lancaster and Lancaster gets up to her feet. Crystal ducks
off with a crossbody, but Lancaster dives out of the way. Crystal hits the mat.
She rolls through and turns and Lancaster steps up and hits the BOGO. Zdunich
drops to a knee. Lancaster then steps back and hits the Instant Karma. The
crowd ohs.
Knots:
“Yes! BOGO! And the Instant Karma! Amazing!”
Sharper:
“Lancaster striking quick.”
Knots:
“Almost perfectly!”
Sharper:
“Okay, okay. Gotta get the fall though!”
Lancaster
goes for the pin.
1!
2!
Zdunich
gets her shoulder up. Lancaster rolls off, turning to the official, Aaron
Demitra, checking the fall. He confirms the two count and Zdunich rolls over as
Lancaster grabs her and pulls her up. She then whips her into the corner.
Lancaster turns and runs after and Zdunich gets a boot up. She then spins to
the apron and then springboards to the top rope and hits a springboard DDT onto
Lancaster. She rolls her over and hooks the leg.
1!
2!
Lancaster
gets her shoulder up. Zdunich rolls off and looks around. She rolls to the
apron and then pulls herself up, grabbing the top rope and waiting as Lancaster
looks around, starting to get up.
Sharper:
“And Lancaster in trouble! Zdunich got a nearfall. And now to the apron again.
Going for another springboard maybe!”
Knots:
“Bree! Look out! Look out!”
Zdunich
springboards to the top rope as Lancaster turns and Lancaster ducks, dodging
Zdunich who seemingly goes for a hurricanrana. Zdunich lands on her feet and
Lancaster turns and jumps, hitting the Rectifier. The crowd ohs and Lancaster
goes for the pin, hooking the leg.
1!
2!
3!
The
bell sounds. Lancaster lets go and rolls off. She then gets up to her feet. She
then touches her wrist and Demitra raises it over Lancaster’s head.
Phillips:
“Here is your winner, via pinfall, Bree Lancaster!”
Knots:
“No panic. Just took a moment, and found the moment, to counter Zdunich and
walk away the winner.”
Sharper:
“Can’t deny that analysis. Zdunich pressured Lancaster, but at the end,
Lancaster made the key dodge, the key counter, and got the victory.”
Knots:
“What a start here tonight!”
Lancaster
then steps forward and looks out at the crowd. She takes in the moment before
looking behind her at Zdunich. She then steps through the ropes, dropping down
to the floor. She throws her hair back and walks around the ring. She then
starts to walk to the back, satisfied with her effort, before the scene cuts
away.
Dawn
Lohan arrives at the Scotiabank Arena, carrying her gear. The crowd boos seeing
her. She takes a few steps in before she’s stopped by Quincy and Steve, Polly
Playtime’s guards. Polly Playtime then walks up to her, smirk on her face.
Polly: “Nice
job, Dawn.”
Dawn: “Screw
you.”
Polly: “Turns
out you’re not ready either. Maybe too much down time. Months until that…how
about we just call it a wash. And now, you can stay out of my way. I’ve beaten
Syren twice in the last two months. I’m stepping back in front!”
Dawn
just looks at her as Polly Playtime turns and walks off. Steve and Quincy
follow her as Dawn just shakes her head and storms off.
COMMERCIALS
“TokSik”
by Starset hits as the lights in the arena immediately go out, a series of
green spotlights converging onto the stage where fog has begun to consume it.
The big screen shows a human eye opening, and reflecting in it is a montage of
people glued to their phones and computers, either consuming or producing
social media garbage as they all look sickly while doing so. “The Digital
Detoxer” Dexter Grant marches out through the fog, stopping at the edge of the
stage and staring out at the fans with disgust. A few cheers can be heard, but
they're easily drowned out by all the boos raining down upon him. He turns his
head to his right just in time to see his faithful flunky Wendell march out
behind him, proudly holding up a protest sign that has the circle-backslash
symbol with a wi-fi symbol behind the backslash and the words “DISCONNECT TO
RECONNECT” written within the circle. The SCW United States Championship is
around Dexter’s waist. In his hand is a manila envelope. Wendell eagerly looks
up at Dexter, who smiles and nods in approval before he starts storming down to
the ring, his disgusted look returning at the sound of all the people around
him who just refuse to listen to his message.
Sharper:
“We are suddenly being joined by the SCW United States Champion and I’m not
expecting this.”
Knots: “Well
why would we want to? He’s going to spew his nonsense.”
Sharper:
“You were cheering for him last week.”
Knots: “That’s
different. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Sharper:
“The Glimmers are your enemy? I thought you were in tight in KABLAMia.”
Knots: “I’m
a man of contradictions! And they’re an enemy of what the New Order is trying to
do!”
He
jumps up onto the apron and aggressively steps through the ropes, marching to
the center of the ring and turning his back to the hard cam as he points his
thumb to the same “DISCONNECT TO RECONNECT” logo of his on the back of his
vest. Wendell crawls into the ring and stands beside Dexter, proudly holding up
his sign. Dexter walks over to the corner and asks for a microphone. Phillips
goes to hand one, but the timekeeper tries to stop him. Dexter then steps through
the ropes and snatches the microphone from Phillips’ hand. He turns back to the
middle of the ring.
Grant: “Everyone
who is in the back should want to listen to me right now. We talk about
transparency and integrity, and it turns out, none of it is here.”
Grant
stops only briefly as he hands the envelope to Wendell. Wendell puts down the
sign and opens the envelope.
Grant: “I
may be your US Champion and I may be someone who has some important ideas, but
tonight, it seems like in the effort to make a moment, our wonderful boss has taken
it upon himself to show that none of you matter.”
Wendell
holds out the envelope and Grant pulls out the contents, revealing a stack of
papers.
Grant: “In
my hand, I have papers and papers of code, of emails, of a lot of information
some people in SCW didn’t want me to get. But I knew it…I knew they couldn’t
have faked your response to me. I couldn’t have won the US Title shot. You all
won’t even listen to my message, far more important than my career. But-“
Grant’s
microphone then goes out. Grant looks at the microphone.
Sharper:
“Oh my God…”
Knots: “Shhhh!
There’s nothing happening!”
He taps
it and looks around. He then turns and heads over to the cameras and reaches
through the ropes, pulling one up to the ring and holding it. He then holds the
stack of paper to the camera.
Grant: “You
want to play that game. I have the proof here. You doctored the results. Your
little gimmick, all for clicks, all for likes to the lowest common denominator
and you manufactured controversy. To go after an enemy and then try to hope you
could win me over. Do I need to go page by page?!”
Wendell
then gets Grant’s attention as we see Chris Lawler, Oskar Theron and Kemal
Yilmaz running down from the back. Grant turns and gets up as he motions to
Wendell. Wendell grabs the package of paper and then turns and goes for the
envelope. He frantically tries to slide it in. Grant watches the EFN.
Sharper:
“And Grant cut off. Lawler…the European Fiery Nation. People the New Order has
used as muscle coming to the ring!”
Lawler
goes over towards Wendell as Theron and Yilmaz run to the ring. Grant then
turns and slides to the floor as Wendell falls over, grabbing the envelope. He
shoves the contents in and Lawler nails Grant with a shot. Grant fires back.
They trade blows before Oskar Theron runs to the ropes nearest Grant and
reaches through the ropes, trying to grant Dexter by the hair. Dexter pulls
away as Wendell gets free. Dexter then turns and runs after Wendell, motioning
to him. Wendell climbs over the barricade and runs through the crowd. Lawler, Oskar
and Yilmaz run after Dexter. Dexter goes over the barricade and runs after
Wendell. The crowd roars as the two run through the crowd.
Backstage,
we see Deanna Frost with Jessica Winters in the backstage area. Jessica is a
bit caught off guard by the sudden shift.
Winters:
“Uh…Jessica Winters here with Deanna Frost, the Adrenaline Champion and the Taking
Hold of the Flame winner. We heard at the start of the show that Frank
Delatosso has made clear – we are resolving this situation with who will
challenge Amelia Nevado and-“
Deanna:
“Jessica…sorry to interrupt, but I’ve been clear here. There’s more to this
than I can get into. Selena should have that shot. And I’ll figure out how to
get her to accept it before the end of the nig-“
Suddenly,
Deanna Frost is jumped by Karl and Jack Barker. Deanna turns and nails one in
the ribs and then another before Gavin Taylor runs into the scene and nails
Deanna with a hard right and then another. Deanna goes down and Gavin kicks at
her over and over and over again. Karl and Jack start to stomp away on the
Taking Hold of the Flame winner.
Sharper:
“Gavin Taylor! The All-Star Secret Service! They’re assaulting Deanna Frost!”
Knots:
“Going to beat a decision into her-“
Sharper:
“How is this in the vision of Delatosso? And we know why? Gavin is trying to
take out Deanna so he gets the shot!”
Gavin
gets a few more shots in before we hear a phone ringing. Gavin looks around and
backs up. He then looks down and grabs his phone. He goes to answer it, before
we see Mr. Black running into the scene. Gavin looks up as he then taps Karl
and Jack on the shoulders. They turn and run off as La Pequena Luz comes
running into the scene.
Sharper:
“And Luz! La Pequena Luz coming in to help her friend!”
Knots:
“Hey! This doesn’t involve you!”
Luz
steps forward, making sure Gavin and his goons run off before turning back to
Deanna and checking on her. Deanna winces and looks up as the scene cuts away.

Breakdown
returns, opening up to another part of the backstage area. We see Gavin Taylor getting
off the phone and walking over to Mr. Black, Karl Barker, and Jack Barker.
Randomly, there’s also a random blonde with them, holding a clipboard.
Gavin:
“Okay…we…need to change the plan.”
Karl: “What?
Why? I mean that went well.”
Jack:
“I mean a couple more times and Deanna can’t do anything.”
Gavin:
“Yeah, but apparently, not tonight. So…”
Gavin
turns to the blonde. The blonde looks around.
Blonde:
“You’re the best, Mr. Taylor.”
Gavin:
“Thank you, Britney.”
Gavin
turns to Karl and Jack. Mr. Black then looks around.
Black:
“Well…we can follow that.”
Gavin
just smiles.
Gavin:
“I like this. We’ll be good. Yes…we’ll be good. We’ll have a Memorandum
of Understanding we’ll follow. Right Britney.”
Blonde:
“I don’t know what I’d do without you, Gavin.”
Gavin
gives her a thumbs up as Karl and Jack look a bit confused and the scene cuts
away.
We cut
to the loading bay where we see Wendell meeting up with Dexter by his RV which
is parked between two SCW transport trucks. Dexter unlocks the door and opens
it for Wendell. Wendell runs in, still holding the envelope. Dexter then steps in,
closing the door. Dexter then turns the ignition. Chris Lawler runs over and
goes to open the door, but Dexter then peels out. Lawler loses his grip. The RV
drives off. Kemal and Oskar move out of the way to avoid getting run over.
Sharper:
“And this scene outside of the arena!”
Knots: “Watch
out! We’re downtown! We’re downtown!”
Sharper:
“Dexter Grant running off with that evidence!”
Lawler peeks
back out, having ducked under one of the SCW transports for safety. He then
steps up as Oskar places his hands on his head and Kemal looks on.
Xavier
Holloway vs. Religious Wright
The
lights go out. Two beaming lights at the top of the ramp makes an 'X' with a
shadowy figure standing in the middle, pointing up in the air with his hands
together.,. The opening rift of "Kickboxer" by The Amity Affliction
begins to play throughout the arena, and the lights turn back on and that
shadowy figure turns out to be Xavier Holloway. The fans in the arena start to
cheer as he lets down his hands, standing confident with a white towel slung
around his neck. Before coming down the ramp he nods his head and then starts
running down the ramp.
Phillips: “The following contest is scheduled for onefall with a fifteen minute
time limit. First, from Salem, Massachusetts, weighing in at one-hundred and
sixty pounds, he is the Young Gun, Xavier Holloway!”
Xavier slides in the ring and runs right to the turnbuckles and jumps up to the
middle rope. He points out to all the fans and then lifts up his arms and
points up in the air again with both his hands together. He does a backflip off
the middle rope and lands on his feet, then starts running the ropes a couple
times and stops by going chest first in the ropes and tosses the towel that was
around his neck into the crowd. We cut to see Religious Wright in the ring.
Phillips:
“And his opponent, from The Sword of Joshua Full Gospel Pentecostal Temple of
Joy Holiness by way of Mt. Judea, Arkansas, and representing Gavin Taylor, he
is Religious Wright!”
Sharper:
“Xavier Holloway making his debut here on Breakdown and he had a heck of a
showing at Taking Hold of the Flame. A lot of excitement around this kid.”
Knots:
“We’ll see Marquis Dawson later. We had Soren Cross earlier. Add Flash. Add
Xavier Holloway. A lot of young stars. We’re back to opportunity. To be on the
big stage. To sink or swim! And Xavier Holloway is going to be a facing a big
challenge here.”
The
bell sounds. Wright looks at Holloway as Holloway hops up and down. The two
circle and Wright runs at Xavier. Xavier sidesteps and then Wright stops at the
corner. Xavier jumps up and hits a dropkick, knocking him back into the corner.
Wright falls back. He then pops up and Xavier nails him with a hard right and
then a chop. The crowd woos. He chops Wright again. More woos. He whips Wright
across the ring and Xavier runs after, and Religious Wright drops down and
rolls to the floor. He then looks around as he then smiles, tapping his temple.
He turns to the ring and Xavier grabs the top rope and swings down into a
dropkick, through the ropes, knocking Wright back. (1) Xavier then exits to the
apron. He looks at Wright, but Wright crawls away. (2) Xavier steps back into
the ring as Wright walks around the ring. (3)
Sharper:
“Wright getting distance. Xavier clearly running on Adrenaline.”
Knots:
“And looking like he could be someone to watch in the Adrenaline Division too!”
Wright
looks at the ring. (4) He then runs at the ring, and slides in. He gets up and
runs at Xavier. Xavier leapfrogs over him. Wright ducks under and bounces off
the other side. Xavier hits a high knee on the rebound. Wright staggers back.
Xavier runs after and Wright lowers his head and Xavier goes up and over to the
apron. Wright turns and Xavier nails him with a forearm. Wright spins through
and Xavier slingshots in, but right into Wright who hits a side belly to belly
suplex. The crowd ohs. Xavier rolls over and slowly gets up. He turns around
and Wright hits a jumping knee strike of his own. Xavier falls to a knee.
Wright then pulls him down with a reverse DDT and goes for the pin.
1!
2!
Xavier
kicks out. Wright shakes his head.
Wright:
“How dare you stand in the way of Gavin! Antiga!”
Knots:
“Wright berating this kid.”
Sharper:
“Surprised it hasn’t started earlier with Wright.”
Wright
turns and grabs Xavier and pulls him up, clubbing him in the back once and then
again before whipping him into the ropes. Xavier bounces off and Wright goes
for back drop. Xavier spins through and lands behind him. Wright turns around
and Xavier kicks him in the ribs and hits a snap suplex. Wright rolls over and
gets up and Xavier hits a drop toe hold before getting up and hitting a
standing moonsault to the lower back of Wright. Wright rolls over, holding his
back in pain. He then starts to get up and Xavier grabs him and goes to whip
him across into the corner. Wright spins through and sends Xavier into the
corner. Wright runs after and Xavier spins out to the apron as Wright goes
chest first into the corner. He staggers back and Xavier springboards in and
hits the eXit Wound. The crowd ohs as Wright rolls over in pain.
Sharper:
“Exit Wound! The knees driven into the jaw of Religious Wright. Maybe it’ll
shut him up for a few moments!”
Knots:
“Hey!”
Wright
rolls over as Xavier looks around and then rolls to the apron and pops up. He
theows his arm up as he climbs up to the top rope. The crowd roars as Wright
rolls over and starts to get up and looks up at Xavier who then dives off with
the Code X. He drives Wright down. The crowd ohs. He dives back for the pin.
1!
2!
3!
The
bell sounds and the crowd roars. Xavier Holloway rolls off and gets up and
looks around, throwing his arm up in the air.
Phillips:
“Here is your winner, via pinfall, Xavier Holloway!”
Holloway
has his arm raised by the official, Jennifer Cassidy. His music plays
throughout the arena. He then goes to the corner and plays to the crowd.
Sharper:
“Xavier Holloway with the Code X. Religious Wright had no answers and Holloway
with an impressive first singles match here in SCW!”
Knots:
“A young career starts. And he just beat a big man right there!”
Sharper:
“Just a taste of what he can do. What will he do in the coming weeks? Will this
be the start for a bright career here in SCW?”
Holloway
continues to play to the crowd before we cut away.
We then
cut to show the locator shot of the SCW headquarter shown earlier as we hear
the sound of motorcycles.
Sharper:
“Congratulations to Xavier Holloway and wait…we’re back at the SCW
headquarters…”
Knots:
“Is that…are those motorcycles?”
We then
see the camera turn to show a club of motorcycle riders starting to drive
around the building. A few moments pass before we see a few more. The camera
pans closer to reveal the colours of the Cowgirls from Hell. Several moments
pass before we see a few more motorcyclists drive by, also wearing Cowgirl
colours.
Sharper:
“That’s…that’s the Cowgirls. They Cowgirls from Hell are driving near the SCW
HQ.”
Knots:
“No…not tonight! Not tonight!”
The
camera clearly picks up Veronica Strader, Tearra Skye, among others, not known
to SCW audiences, driving by, before we see Tiffany Lee, and with Mackenzie
Strader. They include “Nomad” colours.
Knots:
“Are they circling the building?”
Sharper:
“I don’t know but I’ve seen one rider go around once already. I think they’re
circling the block.”
Knots:
“They’re trying to intimidate! These thugs! Get them out of there!”
Sharper:
“I don’t know if Delatosso and company are going to be pleased about that!”
The
scene fades out.
COMMERCIALS
We open
up in the SCW headquarters to see Delatosso looking out of the office windows
in the board room as we see him appear on the screen in the room, showing they’re
watching the show live. We then see Mr. D walking over to Delatosso. He stands
next to him.
Mr. D: “Feel
in control?”
Delatosso
looks at him.
Delatosso:
“I know you have a weird loyalty to CHBK, but this is exactly what he was
allowing. It will end. I won’t be intimidated.”
Mr. D: “Well
you may not be intimidated by them…not that I buy that. But you may want to be
intimidated by us. If what Dexter Grant said is true…I may not be calling the
shots, but I negotiated my permanent position on the board to ensure my legacy
wouldn’t be destroyed.”
Delatosso
bristles at this. Mr. D then turns as the camera focuses on Delatosso for a
moment before turning to show the outside, where we see the Cowgirls from Hell
continuing to drive around the building.
Sharper:
“Looks like things aren’t going well tonight-“
Knots: “Oh
stop it. How could you be against what he’s calling for!”
Sharper:
“I don’t mind what he’s calling for to a degree. I hate his approach to force
it. Professional wrestling is not just one way!”
We then
cut to a locator shot of the Scotiabank Arena.
Sharper:
“Folks! We are live in Toronto! The home of SCW and a place where wrestling
thrives!”
Knots: “Yeah!”
Breakdown
returns as we see Destiny Page in the interview area standing with Scarlett
Carsons. In the background, we also see Religious Wright walking back to his
locker room before they’re intercepted by Mr. Black and then whisked off.
Page: “Welcome
backstage, Destiny Page here with Scarlett Carsons and-“
Before Destiny
Page can finish, we see Chris Lawler walking over to both of them.
Lawler:
“You…where are they going?”
Page: “What
are you talking about?”
Lawler:
“Either of you! Dexter…Wendell…they need to come back. We need to talk to them.”
Page: “I
don’t know what you’re-“
Carsons:
“Has he done something to wrong you? Well…perhaps that was a foolish decision
by you.”
Lawler:
“This is not a game-“
Lawler
advances on Destiny and Scarlett, but Scarlett doesn’t move as Destiny backs
up.
Just
then, we see Scarlett Carsons attacked hard form behind. She goes down into the
panelling with the SCW logo on it. She falls over as we then see Fiona Logan
and Melinda Braddock. The crowd roars. Clyde Sutter looks on from afar as
Melinda and Fiona get a couple of stomps in on Scarlett! Scarlett covers up as
she takes each shot.
Sharper:
“The Vision! The Vision are here! I thought they’d moved on!”
Knots: “Guess
they were just picking their spot!”
Sharper:
“They’ve been gone from SCW programming for weeks! And Scarlett was plotting
against them before they left! And now…they’ve attacked!”
Melinda
and Fiona stomp her a bit more before Chris Lawler then moves in with officials
showing up. Fiona and Melinda back up and smile.
Melinda:
“Hmm…good partnership you got there, huh!”
Fiona: “Ha!”
Sutter encourages
them to back away as the camera cuts back to Scarlett Carsons who winces in pain,
but looks out, more determined as the scene cuts away.
La
Pequena Luz vs. Colleen MacDonald
A coin
can be heard dropping into a coin slot, followed by a few girls giggling. But
before “C’est La Vie” by B*Witched can even begin, Colleen steps out onto the
stage from the backstage area, wearing her normal all-black ring gear and
having the SCW Television Title belt around her waist. Colleen does a cutthroat
signal. The music turns off as she stands still and waits until the beginning
of “How Far I’ll Go” by Auli’i Cravalho begins to play. Colleen nods once
before beginning to slowly head down the entrance ramp. The crowd does keep
their eyes on her as she looks straight down at the ring.
Phillips: “The following non-title match is scheduled for one fall! Introducing
first, from Orderville, Utah, she is the SCW Television Champion... Colleen
MacDonald!”
She keeps going until she arrives down at the ring. Not quickening her pace,
she steps up the steel ring steps and climbs over the top rope to get into the
ring. Once inside she does look around the arena. She simply approves of her
surroundings before she turns to the business at hand, warming up before the
bell rings. As she removes the Television Title from around her waist, she
stares at it in contemplation.
Sharper: “Colleen successfully defending the Television Title two weeks ago
over Chris Lawler, but tonight is an interesting case where her title isn't on
the line.”
Knots: “She deserves a chance to have a great match that could open doors to
some bigger opportunities without having to stress about a title getting in the
way! Champions deserve a break too, especially the Television Champion.”
Sharper: “Two weeks ago, you were all over Colleen when she was facing somebody
from the New Order. What gives?”
Knots: “I may have been judging her a little too harshly for Polly's sake. But
if Mr. Delatosso says she's a great competitor who can showcase what SCW should
be, then who am I to argue with the boss?”
“Believe In Tomorrow” by Sunflower’s Garden begins to play as bright white
lights begin flickering on and off on the stage in rhythm with the music. In a
stark contrast to the energy we've come to expect from her, La Pequeña Luz
slowly walks out onto the stage, even her signature smile missing as she looks
almost distracted, even despite the cheers from the fans. She has both SCW
World Tag Title belts criss-crossed across her chest like a pair of bandoliers,
though closer inspection reveals the one bearing the nameplate of Amelia Nevado
is front and center. As she runs her hands along the sleeves of her robe, it's
not hard to figure out what, or rather who, her mind could be worrying about.
Still, she does seem to refocus a bit as she makes her way down the ramp, even
if it's without her usual energy and at a pace that just feels wrong alongside
her upbeat song.
Phillips: “Her opponent, from Tulancingo, Hidalgo, Mexico, she is one-half of
the SCW World Tag Team Champions... La Pequeña Luz!”
Once she reaches ringside, Luz hops up onto the apron, grabbing the top rope
before vaulting herself into a somersault into the ring, landing on her feet.
Instead of her usual skipping around the ring, Luz instead opts for a familiar
fist pump, which draws cheers but also a few boos from fans who know who Luz is
trying to seemingly send a quiet message to. Nodding to herself and looking a
little disappointed at the boos she heard, Luz moves to her corner, slowly
removing both the Tag Title belts and her robe, giving the robe a hug and a
kiss before setting everything under the bottom turnbuckle as she tries to
refocus on the task at hand.
Sharper: “This young woman had an incredible night at Taking Hold of the Flame.
She managed to help Amelia retain her World Championship while the couple also
became record-tying four-time World Tag Team Champions...”
Knots: “She did what she knew was right!”
Sharper: “...and then she almost won the Taking Hold of the Flame battle royal
on top of it.”
Knots: “Just think: in another timeline, we could've had Amelia defending her
World Title against her own wife to close out the biggest show of the year!”
Sharper: “And you notice that both Tag Title belts are currently in Luz's
possession. To our understanding, Amelia is still recognized as her
co-champion, she's simply asked Luz to hold onto her title for the time being.”
Knots: “She's got the World Title and a Rise to Greatness main event to worry
about above all else!”
As referee Steve Hollinsworth checks with both competitors to see if they're
ready, Colleen asks him to hold on for a moment before she requests the
microphone from Jason Phillips, which he gives to her.
Colleen: “You know something? I appreciate that I'm about to face off with a
talented competitor worthy of respect. Luz, you went through something at
Taking Hold of the Flame that nobody should ever have to go through, and you
not only won, but you also ended up being the runner-up for the battle royal!”
Luz nods her thanks to Colleen as the fans give a mixed reaction, the cheers in
agreement with her while the boos seem to be from those who actually enjoyed
the Lingerie Showdown.
Colleen: “That said... this match feels like it's missing something, and I know
exactly what it is. See, I'm your Television Champion, and I will proudly call
myself a fighting champion no matter what anybody else thinks. But if I'm
really going to prove that, then shouldn't I be defending this title right here
in Toronto?”
The fans erupt in cheers as they begin to see where this is going.
Colleen: “What do you say, Luz? I think you've more than earned a shot at my
belt, and I'm damn sure ready and willing to fight you in order to keep it!”
The fans are cheering louder as Colleen gives the mic back to Phillips, who
does move over to hold it out for Luz as she seems to be uncertain. The fans,
however, begin chanting “YES! YES! YES!” in encouragement, and that seems to
slowly change her tune as a familiar smile begins to appear on her face.
Luz: “You're on!”
The fans nearly blow the roof off the arena as Hollinsworth listens carefully
to something being relayed through his earpiece. He nods and then relays
whatever it was to Phillips before he takes the Television Title from Colleen.
Phillips: “Ladies and gentlemen, by approval of CEO Frank Delatosso, this
contest will now be for the SCW Television Championship!”
While a few fans boo at the mention of Delatosso's name, the rest of the Scotiabank
Arena is raucous with cheers as Hollinsworth holds the belt high and the SCW
Television Title logo flashes across the screen.
Sharper: “Well this is an interesting turn of events! Colleen refusing to have
a night off from defending her title, and our CEO has allowed for it to be on
the line!”
Knots: “You know what? I retract what I said earlier! A great match just got
even better now, and either Colleen will prove what a fighting champion she is,
or we could see both members of The Light In The Darkness as double champions!
Proof of exactly what SCW should be, right here!”
Steve Hollinsworth signals for the bell and both competitors begin to circle
one another, with Colleen having to turn quickly as Luz shows flashes of speed
in trying to find an opening to perhaps get behind her. Seeing that Colleen’s
letting her make the first move, Luz goes to throw a boot to the gut, but
Colleen catches it and quickly spins Luz around so she doesn’t get any ideas
about turning it into something. She goes to catch Luz with a clothesline, but
Luz ducks underneath it and runs to the ropes, springboarding off the second
rope and getting some significant hang time as she dives back and catches
Colleen with a flying arm drag! Colleen quickly tries to roll back to her feet,
but Luz is quicker on the draw as she catches her in the face with a basement
dropkick! Colleen rolls out to the floor, leaning on the apron as she nods to
herself about how this exchange went, the fans applauding.
Sharper: “Luz using her speed to gain the upper hand here in the early-going,
and that could be a huge problem for Colleen if she can’t slow her down.”
Knots: “That’s easier said than done, though. We’ve watched Luz wrestle
multiple times throughout Fatal Fortunes, prevail in an Ironman Match and then
everything we saw at Taking Hold of the Flame. Colleen may have made a mistake
wanting to put her title on the line here.”
Colleen looks at Luz in the ring, as if expecting her to press the advantage,
but Luz instead moves back and gives her space to re-enter. (1) Colleen nods to
her as she climbs up onto the apron and steps back through the ropes. Once
Colleen resets, she and Luz lunge into a collar-and-elbow tieup. They jockey
for the advantage for a moment before Colleen shoves Luz back. Luz rolls
through and pops right back to her feet, and Colleen goes to catch her with a
right hand, but Luz ducks it and catches her arm, spinning around behind her.
She starts hooking Colleen for a potential dragon suplex, but Colleen throws
her hips back and slams her butt into Luz’s gut and pelvis! Luz lets go and
staggers back, coughing and trying to catch her breath, but Colleen grabs her
before planting her with a side belly-to-belly suplex, driving her weight down
onto Luz’s lungs! She hooks the leg for a pin.
1!
2!
Luz gets a shoulder up!
Sharper: “Luz tried to continue using her agility, but Colleen showing her how
well she knows how to throw her weight around.”
Knots: “Big difference between that and what the Glimmers do, before anyone at
home starts to think Mr. Delatosso’s a liar about what SCW should be. The likes
of the Glimmers do that crap because they think it’s cute, Colleen did it
because she had no other way out. That’s instinct!”
Colleen proceeds to mount Luz and starts hammering away with right hands,
trying to batter the luchadora into submission. Hollinsworth watches carefully,
but Colleen makes sure not to throw any closed fists. She stands up and pulls
Luz back to her feet, but only long enough to scoop slam her back to the mat.
She immediately follows up with a jumping elbow drop to further drive the
breath out of Luz’s lungs! She maintains her landing position for the cover.
1!
2!
Luz kicks out!
Sharper: “A sound strategy from Colleen, slowing the pace down significantly
and trying to keep Luz from literally catching her breath.”
Knots: “It’s pretty hard to show Colleen why you survived everything the Glimmers
threw at you and then almost won the Flame if you can’t breathe.”
Colleen pulls Luz back to her feet, backing her up into the ropes with a series
of hard right hands that keep her staggered. She irish whips Luz into the ropes
and tries to catch her on the rebound with a huge back body drop, but Luz gets
a ton of air off of it and is able to land on her feet! The fans cheer for this
as Luz runs off the opposite ropes as Colleen turns, and she catches the
Television Champion with a tilt-a-whirl into a headscissors takedown! Luz gets
to her knees, coughing and trying to regulate her breathing again as Colleen
starts to get back to her feet. Luz charges her, but whatever she had planned
is intercepted as Colleen grabs her and hoists her up onto her shoulder. She
starts running to the opposite corner, intending to turn this into a big corner
spear, but Luz kicks her feet and manages to flip through before trying to take
Colleen down into a sunset flip! Colleen staggers, trying to use her weight to
block this before she sees the position and tries to drop into The Collapser,
but Luz moves and Colleen hits nothing but the canvas! Colleen cries out in
pain, but she doesn’t have long to linger on it as Luz hooks her and pulls her
back into a crucifix pin!
1!
2!
Colleen kicks out!
Knots: “The heart and will of La Pequeña Luz, refusing to give up and finding
ways out of every dicey situation Colleen’s putting her in!”
Sharper: “Luz really won you back over at Taking Hold of the Flame, huh?”
Knots: “She did the right thing and Mr. Delatosso respects that, and I know
Amelia does too! No more petty jealousy or hogging the spotlight!”
We hear Sharper mumble something under his breath that isn’t clearly picked up
by the broadcast. Both Luz and Colleen are back to their feet now, and Luz
catches Colleen with a forearm to the jaw! Colleen flinches back from the
impact before responding with a hard right hand! They keep trading like this,
forearm for punch, as the fans rally behind both of them, before Colleen gains
the upper hand with a huge knee to the gut! She pulls Luz’s head between her
legs and hoists her up for a powerbomb, but Luz connects with a couple of right
hands to loosen Colleen’s grip before she tries to turn it into a hurricanrana!
Colleen, however, uses her strength to keep Luz from taking her over before
hoisting her back up! Before she can make another attempt at the powerbomb, Luz
manages to hop off her shoulders and turns it into a huge tornado DDT!
Sharper: “Colleen, refusing to let Luz keep the upper-hand for long, but Luz
keeps finding ways to take her down!”
Knots: “Proof of exactly what SCW is all about! I know Amelia and Polly have to
be watching this together by Mr. Delatosso’s side with smiles on their faces at
what they’ve helped create!”
If Knots was hoping for that to segue into a cut backstage to prove it, the
viewers at home don’t get it. Regardless, Luz pulls herself to her feet, moving
over to Colleen and grabbing her legs. She starts trying to cross them for the
Ensnaring Vines, but Colleen manages to kick her off! Luz rolls through as
Colleen slowly rises, and as Luz moves in to try something else, Colleen grabs
her and tries to lift her, but Luz manages to slip free and land behind her!
Colleen turns and tries to catch Luz with a clothesline as she rushes her, but
Luz ducks it and handsprings into the ropes before catching Colleen with the
Esperanza Brillante! She rolls back to her feet and measures Colleen as she
tries to rise before running in and catching her with the Flash Freeze! Luz
goes for the cover, getting a deep hook on the leg.
1!
2!
Colleen gets a shoulder up, to the roar of the crowd!
Sharper: “Colleen kicking out at two, but this is exactly what she needed to
avoid at all costs!”
Knots: “Luz’s engine is all revved up now and once she gets going like this,
it’s incredibly difficult to slow her down!”
Luz glances up at Hollinsworth, double-checking with him as he stands by his
two count. She nods to herself, the gears turning in her brain as she tries to
figure out how she can put Colleen away. Her eyes drift over to the nearest
corner, and she takes a moment to reposition Colleen before moving to step out
onto the apron and climb to the top turnbuckle. She glances up at the heavens
with a smile before she attempts the Caer del Cielo, but Colleen rolls towards
the center of the ring and Luz crashes and burns!
Knots: “No water in this pool!”
Sharper: “Luz went for the Caer del Cielo, her father’s move, but Colleen had
enough time to recover and avoid disaster!”
Luz crawls over to the corner, pulling herself up to a seated position as she
rests against the turnbuckles, clutching at her chest and trying to get her
breath back. Unfortunately, Colleen sees this as she pulls herself to her feet,
and it’s the perfect position for Colleen to charge in and crush her with The
Facewarmer! Colleen keeps Luz pinned in the corner for a moment, trying to
catch her own breath from the fight she’s gotten, before she grabs Luz and
pulls her away from the turnbuckles. She positions her perfectly, looking for
The Collapser again, but before she can even think of dropping, Luz rolls back
enough to get her feet under Colleen’s butt and kicks up with enough force that
it lifts Colleen off her feet and sends her over the top rope and out to the
floor! The fans are cheering as Colleen pulls herself back to her feet, looking
surprised, but the fans only roar louder as Luz slowly pulls herself up only to
run off the ropes and cartwheel into a Space Flying Tiger Drop over the top
rope that wipes Colleen out!
Sharper: “Luz! Continuing to fight with all her heart!”
Knots: “She ejected Colleen from the ring to avoid The Collapser, then wiped
her out with that insane lucha libre talent you can only find here in SCW!”
Hollinsworth assesses both competitors from inside the ring, seeing them both
down out on the floor. After a moment, he begins his count.
1!
2!
3!
Luz slowly begins to stir. (4) She starts pulling herself to her feet as
Colleen begins to stir now. (5) Luz starts moving to get back into the ring,
but Colleen grabs at her ankle to try and slow her down while attempting to use
her to help herself back to her feet. (6) Luz manages to kick her ankle free as
she leans against the apron while Colleen keeps trying to get back to her feet.
(7) Luz goes to slide back into the ring, but Colleen grabs her by the back of
her top to stop her before using it to jerk her back into a huge clubbing blow
across the back of the head that sends Luz staggering away! (8) Colleen grabs
the bottom rope and goes to start pulling herself into the ring, but Luz rushes
in and spins along the apron to catch her in the face with a tiger feint kick
that sends her reeling backwards! (9) Luz remains on the apron after this but
proceeds to roll back into the ring. As she starts to get back to her feet,
Colleen rushes to get back in the ring as well.
10!
Just as Colleen slides back into the ring, Steve Hollinsworth turns and signals
for the bell! The fans immediately begin booing at the outcome as Luz’s eyes go
wide and her hands go to her mask, clearly having been too lost in the heat of
battle to have paid closer attention to the count. Colleen looks up in shock
and disappointment as well while Hollinsworth discusses with Jason Phillips.
Knots: “No! This isn’t the outcome this match was supposed to have! Not tonight
of all nights!”
Phillips: “Ladies and gentlemen, your winner, as a result of a countout… La
Pequeña Luz! However, as championships cannot change hands on a countout, STILL
your SCW Television Champion… Colleen MacDonald!”
The fans only boo louder at this as Luz approaches Hollinsworth, looking upset
and practically begging for him to let this match keep going or even restart
it. He sighs and tries to tell her his decision is final before going to hand
Colleen, who’s managed to make it back to her feet now, the Television
Championship, but she refuses it and joins Luz in demanding that this match
keep going.
Sharper: “Clearly not the outcome anybody wanted, especially Luz since she
doesn’t end up beginning a second reign as Television Champion tonight. It
honestly looked to me like they were so focused on each other they weren’t even
aware of where the count was at.”
Knots: “Hollinsworth should have his pay docked for this! I don’t care if he
was just doing his job, how dare he deliver such an awful ending to such a
great match!”
Luz and Colleen keep pleading their case, making it clear they’re both still
raring to go, but Hollinsworth just shakes his head and reiterates his decision
is final. The fans begin chanting “LET THEM FIGHT!” amidst the boos as Luz
turns and apologizes to Colleen, hands fidgeting worriedly with her mask.
Colleen reassures her even if she’s clearly still upset, taking the Television
Title belt when Hollinsworth attempts to give it to her again as she walks
around the ring in frustration. Luz makes one more attempt to try and convince
Hollinsworth to change his mind, but he continues to stand by the countout win
he awarded her.

Breakdown
returns at the SCW interview area where Jaina Lancaster stands with a microphone.
Jaina: “Please
welcome at this time, The One, Kirsten Scott.”
Kirsten
Scott comes into view. The crowd cheers seeing her.
Jaina: “Kirsten,
you were away for some time. You returned at Taking Hold of the Flame and I’m
sure you’re looking to come back and pick up where you left off-“
Scott: “Not
in the way you think. Whatever I was involved in before…who cares…I’m here to
do what I should’ve done before. I got focused on the wrong things. I’m just
here to start working my way up. I see a few things have changed. Deanna Frost…maybe…is
challenging for the World Title.”
Scott chuckles
a bit.
Scott: “And
a few others look like they found a set to step up, but…”
We then
see Colleen MacDonald walking past the interview area. Scott however holds her
hand up. Colleen looks up at her.
Colleen:
“What do you want?”
Scott: “Saw
you’ve been making a name for yourself.”
Colleen:
“Yeah, and?”
Scott: “If
you want a fight…I’m happy to give you a test.”
Colleen:
“Get in line.”
Colleen
storms off as Scott smirks and turns to Jaina.
Scott: “I
don’t plan to stand in too many lines.”
Scott
glances back to where Colleen walked off to before walking off in the opposite
direction.
The
opening rifts to “You Know My Name” kicks in over the PA system, the arena all
jumping to their feet in unison as a ‘Cruze’ chant starts to roll around the
arena. After a few moment, the curtain parts, and Shaun Cruze steps through it,
and onto the stage. He looks out at the Toronto crowd and throws his arms in
the air.
Sharper:
“Shaun Cruze on his way to the ring. Toronto giving him a hell of a reception!”
Knots:
“Yeah, but he better get used to those receptions going away. Allocco is coming
for him. He could’ve been the golden child, but he’s not because he couldn’t
get over his own ego!”
Sharper:
“He didn’t want a hand out. He said, he wanted to earn everything.”
Knots:
“And he’s going to earn this fall from grace!”
He starts to walk down to the ring, high fiving with the fans at ringside, and
shaking hands. He heads to the ring and slides under the bottom rope. He walks
to the middle of the ring, and holds out his arms. He then walks to his corner,
and grabs a microphone waiting for him. He then turns and walks over to the
middle of the ring. He waves to a few fans in the crowd as he smirks and then
looks around as the music fades out.
Cruze:
“Toronto!”
Cruze
looks around.
Cruze:
“Thank you for that welcome. I will always enjoy coming out to the ring and
interacting with all of you, high-fiving you, saying hi, and thanking you how I
can for supporting me and the family for our entire careers.”
Cruze
pauses for a moment.
Cruze:
“It’s why it’s particularly interesting I am being cast as if I’m standing
here, taking up a spot, pushing people out of the way, when I returned, I made
clear one thing…I felt I could still go and I was here to challenge the roster
and see whether that was the case.”
Cruze
shakes his head.
Cruze:
“But now I’m getting attacked, literally, and insulted for not taking the easy
way. I didn’t want the guards. I didn’t want the favouritism from the boss. I
wanted to go out and to compete. But it’s clear that to Delatosso I was just a
former movie star. I was a vehicle. And saw through it. And then what
happens…I’m jumped by Alistaire Allocco when I’m looking to end things with
Polly Playtime. Well we all saw how that ended up. Round one, you got me
Alistaire…Round two, Shaun Cruze reminded you that I don’t get fooled again!”
The
crowd roars.
Cruze:
“Alistaire, you may have been friends with Owen, but I’m not Owen. And if you
come after me like you did, you know what, I’m not here to just take it.
Alistaire, you may be the number one draft pick, but I was Delatosso’s first
choice and quickly moved on and I wouldn’t trade a thing. I don’t regret
anything Alistaire, except that I didn’t see you coming!”
Cruze
looks at the camera.
Cruze:
“But Alistaire…we can sit here and jump each other week after week, or we can
move this along to where we both know it’s going. You said you were going to
beat me until I get the hint…well, my hint is that Rise to Greatness is coming
and Alistaire…well, back in the day you’d not turn down a challenge. Or are you
going to prove that on the night that Delatosso is selling his precious vision,
his number one draft pick isn’t up to the so-called competition he purports to
want!”
The
lights dim slightly as monks' chanting begins to echo out through the
arena. As this does so, a lone yet dim spotlight begins to focus in on the
entrance:
Dies iræ, dies illa
Solvet sæclum in favilla:
Teste David cum Sibylla.
Quantus tremor est futurus,
Quando iudex est venturus,
Cuncta stricte discussurus!
Tuba, mirum spargens sonum
Per sepulchra regionum,
Coget omnes ante thronum.
The sound feeds kick suddenly into "Lux Aeterna" by Skyder, DRONSOND.
The spotlight becomes super intense as a single man stands in its ray.
Alistaire Allocco steps up, microphone in his hand. He then looks down at the
ring, the music blaring, and the spotlight remaining on him. Cruze turns to the
stage.
Knots:
“There’s your number one draft pick!”
Sharper:
“Allocco standing on the stage. One of the individuals Delatosso clearly has
brought back to help see his vision through.”
Knots:
“Finally getting what he deserves. The man came back from near-career ending
injuries! Remember!”
Allocco
paces in his spotlight as Cruze looks at him.
Allocco:
“You are right…I happily take on any challenges, but only the one’s worth my
time. And Shaun, when I came back and asked what I could do, I went after you,
not just because it helped Delatosso. I went after you because frankly, the
Cruze Family always felt they were better than everyone and they never deserved
that. Whether you, Orlando…or Owen…you always had a lucky horseshoe. Well, no
more….because in professional wrestling, I will be the Harbinger of your
descent!”
Cruze:
“Run your mouth more Alistaire. The Impact Player is calling out the Number One
Draft Pick at Rise to Greatness. You want to take me out…try it. Because
Alistaire, I’ve decided my number goal right now is to humble you. You’re the
one returning and claiming to be taking a spot you’ve not earned. Well,
Alistaire…I’m here to put YOU through your steps!”
Allocco
shakes his head.
Allocco:
“Shaun…I’ll happily face you at Rise to Greatness. And I will make sure your
night end with your screaming in pain as I outwrestle you on the biggest stage
of wrestling. I will not be humbled as I have no need to be. But you…your time
making an Impact will be OVER!”
Cruze:
“Keep talking big Alistaire. What’s going to happen when you can’t jump me from
behind!”
Allocco:
“I’ll ask you the same thing.”
Cruze:
“Then let’s have a taste now!”
Allocco
just smirks. The crowd roars.
Sharper:
“How about that?!”
Allocco:
“Shaun…you’ve made your challenge. Tonight…tonight, that’s all that needs to be
said. There is no place for barbarism tonight. Have a good night Shaun…this may
be one of the few you’ll have left before Rise to Greatness!”
Allocco
steps back and turns to the back. The crowd boos as Shaun Cruze just watches
him leave, scoffing.
Knots:
“That’s a gentlemen right there!”
Sharper:
“Cruze offering to have a taste tonight, face to face, but Allocco walking off.
What the hell with this barbarism? Allocco started it by attacking Cruze from
behind two weeks ago!”
Breakdown
opens up backstage as we see a couple of bakery assistants moving a birthday
cake into position outside of Bree Lancaster’s locker room. The one assistant
looks at the printout on the cart, holding the cake.
Assistant
1: “This the right room?”
Assistant
2: “Let me see that.”
They
look at the form as we see Syren walking past in the background. She smirks and
turns back to the two.
Syren:
“Hey, can I help you? I assume you’ve been sent by Frank Delatosso?”
Assistant
1: “Yeah. Delivering a birthday cake to Bree Lancaster.”
Syren:
“Ah perfect. We’ve been waiting for this. I can take it from here. We have a
band and everything. Really wants to make her feel special.”
Assistant
1: “You sure? We can roll it in-“
Syren:
“No, it’s okay. Again, I can take it from here.”
Assistant
2: “Need you sign here first?”
Syren
smiles and walks over and looks at it.
Syren:
“Oh…wonderful. Card’s on file?”
Assistant
2: “Uh-huh.”
Syren:
“Wonderful. Then here you go. And enjoy that tip. Great job.”
The
assistants look at the form and both look a bit surprised. They then walk off
as Syren takes the cart.
Knots:
“That…that’s not yours!”
Sharper:
“Syren just signed for it!”
Syren
then moves the cart over to the locker room of Bree Lancaster. She slowly opens
the door. She smiles before stopping and looking around and then steps back and
pulls off a hair elastic and puts her hair up. She then looks around before
then seeing a crew member wearing a mask walking by. Syren stops them.
Syren:
“Sorry, can I borrow that-“
Crew
member: “I have another one-“
Syren:
“Even better.”
The
crew member hands Syren a mask. Syren then takes it and puts it on before then
reopening the door slowly and pushing the cart in. Bree Lancaster can be heard
talking on the phone.
Bree:
“…can’t wait to be out of here. Toronto…never a great place to be. But the
return went well. Toyed with Crystal a bit…Don’t worry, Josh. I’ll be out of
here when I can….going to have to get off the phone though. Someone’s trying to
call me…”
Syren
stops and starts to move the cart in front of Bree. Bree doesn’t seem to really
notice the help.
Bree:
“Oh…Josh…Frank is such a lovely man. He got me a birthday cake. A nice touch…”
Bree
looks over as Syren then suddenly grabs her and shoves her head into the cake.
The crowd roars.
Sharper:
“And Syren! Driving Bree’s head into the cake! Happy Birthday!”
Knots:
“What the hell? This is an assault!”
Bree
yells out, the phone flying out of her hand. She falls back and Syren then
takes the cake and lifts it up and throws it onto Bree and the couch. Bree
falls back, more stunned from it as she’s covered in icing and chocolate cake.
Syren then rips the mask off.
Syren:
“Welcome back, Bree. Looking like the star, huh! Happy birthday!”
Syren
then turns and heads out of the room. Bree looks around, eyes widened as she
then looks around before looking at her hands and then touching the cake and
icing on her face. She lets out an angry yell as the scene cuts away.
COMMERCIALS
Breakdown
returns as we see Jaina Lancaster with her aunt, Bree. Bree has a towel and is wiping
the cake off her face.
Jaina: “Bree….I
can’t believe Syren pulled that.”
Bree: “Oh
I know she did. All she can do….stupid games. Just more of why things needed to
change.”
Jaina
turns as we see a couple of crew members coming in with some more towels.
Jaina: “Where
did those delivery people go, huh?!”
Bree: “Hopefully
fired. I’ll find who Frank got the cake from. And then we’ll worry about Syren.
Time for her to no longer be a factor!”
Bree continues
to clean herself off as we cut away.
Knots: “This
is a travesty. It’s her birthday!”
Sharper:
“Well she got to enjoy the whole cake!”
Knots: “What
is wrong with you?”
Sharper:
“Too bad the Glimmers aren’t here.”
Knots: “Hey!”

Marquis Dawson
“DNA” by Kendrick Lamar begins to play as Pookie Williams steps out on the
stage in his black adidas track suit as hypes up Marquis Dawson by yelling idle
warnings at everyone. Marquis Dawson finally strolls out in a black Mink fur
Vest and black leather pants and some old school Jordans. He stops slowly pans
around the crow before flashing his bright white vaneers. He nods his head
feeling himself in the moment.
Phillips:
“The following contest is scheduled for onefall with a fifteen minute time
limit. First, on his way to the ring, accompanied by Pookie Williams, from
Chicago, Illinois, he is Marquis Dawson!”
He then
begins to strut toward the ring. He looks around to the crowd mouthing it is
bout time to stack dem bands before jumping up on the apron, dusting off his
Jordans and flipping over the top rope. He poses for a moment with his arms
thrown outward before shimmying the mink fur vest off and handing it to Pookie
Williams as he heads over to the corner.
Sharper:
“Marquis Dawson has been making waves to put it simply. Two weeks ago, he
debuted with a win and then called out some of the other young talent recently
signed in SCW. Tonight, he faces off against David Belmont.”
Knots:
“I’m going to a big fan of him tonight. He’s facing Belmont, one of these
deranged Mavericks. And frankly, have him take on the world. Let’s see what he
can do. He’s so far talking the talk and walking the walk!”
The
lights in the Scotiabank Arena suddenly go out as numerous fans turn on their
cell phone lights which slowly start to appear like fireflies in the darkness
as the video wall lights up with a dark banner as the opening instrumentals of
Damn Nation's cover of Metallica's "King Nothing" begins to play as
the video wall lights up with the banner of the Mavericks as Ryo Ashihara comes
walking out onto the entrance way, carrying the flag of the Mavericks which he
waves as the man himself, David Belmont slowly walks out onto the stage with the
towering figure of "Godzilla" Eric Gibson following him out, hoisting
David's half of the ECWF Lucha World Tag Team championship high over his
bearded head with the Rabbit following him in his wake.
Phillips:
“And introducing next, he represents both the Extreme Championship Wrestling
Federation and the Mavericks, he is being escorted to the ring by Ryo Ashihara,
"Godzilla" Eric Gibson, and the Rabbit...”

wave of cheers for the self- proclaimed "Roma Magi" or Gypsy King of
ECWF's Lucha Ascension brand, Ryo holds the flag high above his head with a
look of grim determination as he stalks around the ring.
Phillips:
“He weighs in tonight at two hundred and thirty pounds, he is one half of the
ECWF Lucha World Tag Team champions, and he hails from South Town Florida...
this is the leader of the Mavericks Brotherhood, this is David Belmont!”

David
stands in front of the ring, comes to attention with his hands at the small of
his back as a grim smile crosses his face as he takes in the carnage before
him, at which point he then nods to Ryo who glances at Knots with a dark look
on his face before Belmont removes his ring vest and then quickly enters the
ring, ready for a fight. Marquis then steps up and nails him with a boot to the
head. The crowd ohs.
Knots:
“Hell yeah!”
Sharper:
“Marquis Dawson not worried about the Mavericks and greeting Belmont with a
boot. I don’t blame him given the Mavericks have attacked and mugged anyone
they’ve been around! The Phantom Troupe, Simon Lyman…”
Knots: “Marquis taking the fight to Belmont!...I mean he jumped him! Yeah!”
The
bell sounds as Knots looks over at Ryo. Belmont spins around and nails Marquis
with a hard right. Dawson fires back with a hard right of his own and Belmont
buries a knee into the ribs of Dawson before grabbing a cravate. He then pulls
him down into a knee once before Marquis pushes himself free. Belmont turns and
goes for a back elbow, but Marquis ducks and stops and turns and smacks Belmont
with a right handed slap and then a left handed slap before hitting a chop to
the jaw and then a spinning back fist. Belmont falls to the corner and smirks.
He just nods.
Sharper:
“Marquis Dawson with a flurry!”
Knots:
“This is going to be great. Let’s just get it on!”
Belmont
then steps up and taps his jaw. Marquis smiles and obliges and smacks him one.
Belmont turns and then hits a shotei, jarring Marquis. Marquis staggers as
Belmont then steps up and nails him with a forearm shot to the jaw and then a
spinning back fist of his own before hitting a pump knee, knocking Marquis to
the ropes. Belmont grabs him and whips him across the ring and then just drills
him with a lariat. Marquis hits the mat. Belmont goes for the pin.

Dawson
kicks out. Belmont calmly gets up as Marquis turns, holding his lip, noticing
it’s been cutting. He just nods and turns around and Belmont then nails him
with another shotei before a second one. Marquis falls to the ropes.
Sharper:
“Hard strikes as Belmont just looking to concuss Marquis Dawson.”
Knots:
“Dawson’s got a hard chin though and he’s taking it and almost daring him to go
for more!”
Belmont
then nails him over and over and over again with a hard rights as the Mavericks
look on. The Rabbit just keeps an eye on Knots as Belmont then whips Marquis
into the ropes. Marquis bounces off and Belmont catches him for an exploder
suplex. Dawson, however, elbows out of it and then spins out and drills Belmont
with a forearm. Belmont staggers and Dawson then hits an enziguri kick. Belmont
falls back to the ropes. Marquis then just steps up and boots him in the face.
Belmont fall to the apron. Marquis walks around and smirks before hitting the
ropes. He goes for a clothesline. Belmont ducks and then grabs Marquis by the
hair and pulls him down. Belmont enters as Marquis gets up to his knees and
Belmont hoists him up onto his shoulders and hits a Samoan drop. He then gets
up and just kicks Marquis in the side of the head and then the side. Marquis
rolls over. He starts to get up. Belmont turns and runs into the ropes. He
bounces off and Marquis hits a roaring elbow, knocking down Belmont!
Sharper:
“And Belmont looking to add some impact, but instead just ran into the roaring
elbow of Marquis Dawson!”
Knots:
“These two are wearing each other out. Just hitting with anything they’ve got.
Almost like a point of pride.”
Sharper:
“Belmont more calculated. Marquis is making it hurt though.”
Belmont
turns and starts to get up and Marquis Dawson grabs him from behind. He then
hits a German suplex. Belmont rolls over and starts to get up and Marquis then
drills him with a hard elbow strike and then another before finishing off the
Seasoning. Belmont hits the mat. Marquis Dawson goes for the pin.

Belmont
gets his shoulder up. He rolls over as Marquis then backs up to the corner. He
just mockingly tells Belmont to get up and Belmont pulls himself up. Marquis
runs at him and jumps up, but Belmont spins out of the way. Marquis pivots and
lands on his feet. He turns around and into Belmont who catches him and hits a
northern lights suplex only to roll through and then hoists him up and hit the
Echoplex into a bridge.
1!
2!
Marquis
kicks out.
Sharper:
“Belmont fires back. Back to back northern lights suplexes and gets a two
count.”
Knots:
“Volley back Marquis. Come on!”
Marquis
rolls over as Belmont gets up and grabs him and pulls him up. He then hoists
him up and hits a reverse suplex. Marquis hits hard. Belmont then rolls him
over and then starts to pull him again. He then runs him into the corner.
Marquis hits hard. He turns around and Belmont steps up and hits a hard shot
and then chop to the chest. The crowd woos. He chops him again. More woos. He
then drags him out and then knees him in the ribs before whipping him into the
ropes. Belmont runs into the opposite direction and bounces off an dgoes for
the Vampire Killer, but Marquis ducks and both bounce off and Marquis and
Belmont both jump up and hit one another hard with crossbodies. The crowd ohs
as Marquis rolls away, holding his ribs. Belmont winces and rolls over.
Sharper:
“Oh! High impact! Right in the middle of the ring.”
Knots:
“Both had the same idea. Both hit one another. Both hurt!”
Marquis
winces as the referee counts.

Marquis
grabs the ropes as Belmont rolls over. He looks up at Marquis. (5) He then
manages to get up first. (6) The official stops his count as Marquis then gets
up and Belmont runs over and just boots him in the back, causing him to fall
through the ropes. Pookie Williams looks on, berating Belmont, leading to Gibson
to just glare at Pookie. Belmont pulls Marquis up on the apron and goes to pull
him through the ropes. He then drops him with the Midnight Special. He plants
Marquis and rolls him over. He hooks the leg.
1!
2!
Marquis
gets his shoulder up. Belmont rolls off and looks out, taking a moment to take
stock of the situation before getting up.
Sharper:
“And Marquis Dawson kicks out again. Despite being planted by David Belmont!”
Knots:
“Marquis Dawson…just looking to get that seasoning going again. Not going to be
let down here tonight. He’s got an attitude, and that’s driving him and I’m all
for it!”
Sharper:
“Well right now though, David Belmont, not showing any frustration. Just taking
a moment to calculate. And we’ve seen how calculating he’s been since he first
showed up at Taking Hold of the Flame!”
Belmont
gets up and drags Marquis up to his feet and then forearms him in the jaw
before cravating him again and this time kneeing him in the face once and then
again and again before spinning him into the corner. Belmont walks over and
grabs him and then whips him across the ring. Marquis hits the opposite corner.
Belmont walks over and then grabs Marquis before pulling him out and whipping
him into the ropes. Belmont goes to nail him with a clothesline, but Marquis
ducks and bounces off the other side and hits the OG Kicks! The crowd ohs.
Marquis goes for the pin.

Belmont
gets his shoulder up. Belmont rolls over. Marquis turns and starts to get up as
Belmont rolls over as Marquis then gets up and grabs him and pulls him up. He
drags him up, but Belmont gets a back elbow in. We then cut to the stage where
we see Simon Lyman coming out, dressed in a dress shirt and slack, brandishing
a steel chair. Lyman starts to advance to the ring, but is stopped by SCW
officials, including road agents Hiro Tanaka and Dillusion. Lyman keeps trying
to demand they let him go as Gibson turns and waits on the rampway. Belmont
looks up and smirks before turning around only for Marquis to kick him in the
ribs and then double underhook him and drop him with the Stackin’ Dem Bands! Ryo
keeps near the announce position.
Sharper:
“Simon Lyman wanting some revenge and SCW officials holding him back!”
Knots:
“Not tonight, Simon! Not tonight!”
Sharper:
“And wait! Marquis Dawson got Belmont! Stackin’ Dem Bands!”
He then
covers Belmont.
1!
2!
3!
The
crowd roars as the bell sounds.
Phillips:
“Here is your winner, via pinfall, Marquis Dawson!”
Belmont
rolls over, holding his head and neck as Marquis Dawson rolls over and looking
up at the lights before Pookie Williams enters the ring. Lyman continues to try
and move forward as we see Poe and Gibson now starting to walk up the rampway.
Dillusion turns and tries to stop them as Hiro Tanaka forces Lyman to the back,
joined by other officials. Marquis Dawson gets up and has his arm raised as
Belmont turns, wincing in pain, looking up at the rampway. We then cut to the
Rabbit cocks his head as Knots looks at him before pointing at him as the scene
cuts away.
We cut
backstage to see Religious Wright walking through the backstage area. He looks
around, seemingly sneaking down the hallway.
Sharper:
“Oh God…don’t tell me…Wright being sent by Gavin…”
He then
runs over to one of the locker room doors before stopping. He then looks around
before going over down the hallway and over to a hydration station and throws
everything off of a metal serving tray before then taking the tray and smiling.
He turns back and heads to the locker room before stopping, his eyes widening.
Wright:
“You…you…anti-christ!”
Just
then, Wright goes to attack, but we see Chris Dumont nailing him with a Code
Zero. Wright falls back and down to the ground.
Sharper:
“Religious Wright attacked by Dumont! Dumont was laying in wait. Clearly was
following what Gavin wanted to do earlier!”
Knots:
“Get help back there! That’s a man of the LAWRD!”
He then
starts to roll over as Dumont runs over and stands over him and nails him with
a series of hard crossface punches to the side of the head nailing him over and
over and over again. Wright falls to the ground and Dumont then grabs him and
pulls him up and just runs him into the wall. Wright bounces off and falls over
before Dumont then grabs him and takes the tray. He then grabs Wright’s hand
and uses it to hold the tray up against his face only for Dumont to quickly hit
a Code Zero, knocking the tray into the face and Wright just collapses. Dumont
kicks the tray away as he turns to the hydration station and quickly clears it,
knocking everything on it to the floor. He then turns as Wright looks up, half
out of it, blood coming down his face. Dumont then grabs him.
Dumont:
“Tell Gavin…his worst nightmare has not yet come!”
Dumont
then double underhooks Wright and hoists him up before driving him through the
table with the Nightrider. Wright ends up in a heap. Dumont rolls off of him
and looks down at him. We then see officials coming down to separate the two.
Dumont however backs up and looks at Wright. He then smirks as the scene cuts
away.
COMMERCIALS
DURING
THE COMMERCIAL BREAK:
We see
Marquis Dawson and Pookie Williams walking through the tunnel and into the
backstage area.
Sharper:
“Welcome back to Breakdown. A lot going on here tonight and while there’s been
an attempt to keep control, tensions rising high and even amongst our
newcomers!”
We see
Marquis step forward as he just smirks we see Soren Cross waiting for him, arms
folded across his chest.
Dawson:
“Look at you…waiting for little old me. Can’t even meet out there. I mean if
you want to go-“
Cross:
“I’ve been around enough. I didn’t feel like giving you the chance to call me a
pussy when the officials stop me while they’re handling the Mavericks and
Lyman.”
Dawson:
“Too bad, I still think you’re one.”
Williams:
“Come on Marquis. You’re already bigger than this kid.”
Cross:
“Then prove it. You’re hot shit all of a sudden. Come on…we can meet in the
ring.”
Dawson
walks up to Cross.
Dawson:
“I could just drop you here.”
Cross:
“Then do it. You called me out. So…I’m here. And I’-“
Just
then, we see Xavier Holloway running over and jumping off a nearby storage
crate and hitting a somersault dive onto both Cross and Dawson. Williams just
gets out of the way. Holloway lands on his feet and then steps forward and
smirks before turning around.
Holloway:
“Sorry for the entrance. But there’s more than just two of you!”
Holloway
smirks and turns and heads off as Pookie Williams glares at him before going
over to Dawson, trying to help him up as the Breakdown logo comes up on the
screen.
The
Great and Secret Show vs. European Fiery Nation
“The
Way You Like It” by Adema plays as the crowd roars. We then cut to the entrance
way as we see Dylan Howell running out wearing a bathrobe. He looks around and
smiles before cackling and then starting to walk down to the ring. Jessica
Heart follows behind him, carrying a cloth bag with some items inside. Dr.
Grace Morningwood stands behind them. She looks a bit exasperated already, but
seems to go with it. Howell marches to the ring as Heart follows, spinning
around. Morningwood takes up the rear.
Phillips:
“The following contest is scheduled for onefall-“
Howell
enters the ring and runs across the ring and over to Jason Phillips, almost
tackling him back to the corner. He then leans in and smiles, saying something
to Phillips. Heart runs up the steel steps and into the ring. Morningwood gets
to the ring and immediately yells in at Howell. Howell slowly backs up as
Phillips looks at him, uncertain, before starting to speak.
Phillips:
“The following contest is the Dylan Howell Bodyslam Challenge…”
The
crowd cheers.
Knots:
“Wait? What? I thought we were done with that last week.”
Sharper:
“Well if at first you don’t succeed-“
Knots:
“No! It’s madness to do the same thing over and over and expect a different
result.”
Sharper:
“I think you have your answer then!”
Phillips
looks around, uncertain, as Howell smiles and turns around, taking off his
bathrobe, revealing a banana hammock mankini! The crowd roars as Howell smiles
and looks around.
Sharper:
“Oh dear god….”
Knots:
“No…oh no. Not tonight!”
Sharper:
“I think that may be the same…outfit he won the Adrenaline Championship in!”
Knots:
“No…no….no!”
Jessica
Heart places the bag next to Howell as she goes over to Phillips and grabs the
microphone before shoving him back. Howell turns around and looks at Jennifer
Cassidy, the planned official for the match. Heart looks at her and starts to
explain something to her, while holding the microphone at her side.
Sharper:
“Jessica Heart is saying something to the official-“
Knots:
“Don’t listen to her. Don’t! Dean! Dean Black get out here!”
We then
see Howell pull out a giant jug of Wesson Canola oil. He starts to undo the top
as we see Morningwood walk around as Jessica Heart turns to the crowd.
Heart:
“Alright! Alright! Time for our opponents to step up. Can they bodyslam Dylan
Howell and if they succeed, I have a special treat for them!”
The
crowd roars. Howell then holds the jug up and starts to douse himself in canola
oil!
Sharper:
“Oh God…Howell is oiling himself up.”
Knots:
“Who’s going to clean that up!?”
Sharper:
“Folks, uh…well we’re seeing the former Adrenaline Champion in a mankini
covered in canola oil.”
Knots:
“No! We shouldn’t be!”
“Off To
War” by Behemoth plays over the sound system with the lights being dark as ever
as Kemal, with Ginny behind him in the middle, Ludvig and Federico on the left
and Dakon and Oskar on the right-hand sides, looking at the crowd and got heavy
boos. We see Dean Black with them and saying something to them. Ginny turns to
the European Fiery Nation, and tells them to go to the ring. The lights return
as the group drops their flags, and then en masse head to the ring.
Knots:
“Good! Get them! Come on guys!”
Sharper:
“And European Fiery Nation, who was supposed to face Howell and Heart, are now
coming down in full! This may not be a match at all!”
Howell
steps up, posing even as we see Oskar Theron slide into the ring. He runs over
to Howell and goes to grab him, but Howell slips right through as Oskar falls
to the mat. Howell falls over as Federico Gasperoni then grabs him, but Howell
slides through and crawls around and getting up. He then looks around as Dakon
runs at him, but Howell spins out of the way and then Ludvig grabs him and goes
to suplex him, but his arms slip off of him and he staggers away. Howell then
turns and shakes his ass a bit as Oskar Theron goes for a clothesline. Howell ducks
and turns as Kemal then goes to trip him up while on the floor. Howell falls
over and to the mat. Eriksson and Dakon dive on him and Howell slips out again,
thanks to the oil, the oil now covering the ring canvas too. Oskar steps up and slips as he frustratingly
slaps the mat. Federico then grabs Howell.
Sharper:
“And Howell just managing to avoid getting caught! It’s like catching a greased
pig!”
Knots:
“Don’t worry. Gasperoni has this. He’s used to oil. Bodybuilder and all!”
Gasperoni
then goes for a scoop slam, but Howell slides down behind him and then grabs
Gasperoni and turns and throws him to the floor. Howell spins around as Dakon
and Oskar then both grab Howell and try to lift him up, but Howell slides down
too and then falls to the mat. Kemal climbs onto the apron before we see Ludvig
turn to Jessica Heart who lifts her shirt, seemingly flashing him. The crowd
roars as Eriksson looks around and smirks before Howell then shoves him forward
into the corner, as Heart jumps out of the way.
Heart:”
Come on, guys. I thought you’re the best in Europe. Can’t you catch one little
Howell and give him a slam!”
Howell
then turns as Kemal Yilmaz enters the ring and clotheslines Howell down. The
crowd boos as Howell rolls over. Kemal then steps up and stomps Howell in the
chest over and over and over again. Heart then runs over and jumps up and nails
Kemal with the microphone before nailing him again and again. Kemal falls to a
knee as Oskar and Dakon get up and they both grab Heart off of Kemal and she
then starts to windmill her arms, trying to hit anything before Eriksson nails
her from behind. Heart hits the mat. Gasperoni then starts to get up as we see
Flash running down from the back.
Sharper:
“And the European Fiery Nation has finally gotten Howell and Heart down. But no
slam-“
Knots:
“Oh who gives a damn! Just take them out! Kemal Yilmaz getting Howell down.
Enough of this-“
Sharper:
“But they may have trouble. Here comes Flash!”
Flash
runs down to the ring and slides into the ring. He then turns and nails Dakon
with a hard right and then a back chop to Oskar before turning and running at
Federico Gasperoni on the floor and diving over the top rope and onto him,
taking him down. The crowd erupts. Gasperoni goes down as Flash and him end up
against the announce table. Flash turns and goes after Gasperoni, attacking him
with hard right hands.
Sharper:
“And Flash over the top! Takes down Gasperoni!”
Knots:
“He wasn’t ready! Flash, what are you doing?”
Sharper:
“Gasperoni attacked him last week on the orders of Gavin Taylor. A bit of
revenge!”
Howell
rolls out of the ring as Morningwood tries to get Heart out of the ring. Heart
rolls out as Eriksson attacks her. Heart falls to the mats and rolls over as
Howell slides out to the floor. Flash then gets up and looks around as Kemal
Yilmaz then starts to exit the ring. Howell turns and starts to run around the
ring to the rampway. He laughs as he turns.
Howell:
“No slam! Undefeated!”
Heart
turns and laughs as she winces a bit, holding her body as Eriksson looks at
her. Morningwood motions for them to exit the ringside area as Oskar and Dakon
step up, annoyed, Dakon head over to the ropes by Flash. Flash walks around the
ring and points at the ring. Gasperoni rolls over as Howell keeps laughing as
Heart follows him. Morningwood continues to lead her team to the back as the
EFN remains in the ring.
Knots:
“Good! Leave!”
Sharper:
“Howell just cackling. The EFN getting Howell and Heart out of there. But not
without some egg on their face!”
Knots:
“Just get them out of here for good. Better yet! Cut away! Cut away!”
The
scene cuts away.
We cut
to see Amelia Nevado walking down the hallway. “Psycho in my Head” by Skillet
playing in the background.
Knots: “Yes!
The World Champion!”
Sharper:
“The World Champion on her way to the ring. We heard that we’d get Deanna Frost
or Selena Frost to confirm who will face her and I guess Amelia Nevado is going
to force the matter!”
The
scene cuts away.
COMMERCIALS
We see
a collection of computer generated screens spinning around, showing shots from
Rise to Greatness in past years, including a shot of Steve Griffin hitting CHBK
with the Decimator off the top rope at the first Rise to Greatness, before
cutting to show Cid Turner last year holding the SCW World Championship, and
then showing James Exeter going for a shooting star press only to be caught by
Shawn Winters.
“This
is your Rise to Greatness Rewind.”
We then
cut to 2006. We open up during the extreme scaffold match to see Killjoy
and The Real Speed fighting on a scaffold. Killjoy then walks over to
Speed and lifts him up. He lifts him and looks to be about to throw him off the
side. Speed, out of desperation, rakes his eyes. He falls down and then grabs
Killjoy’s leg, Killjoy falls over the railing and Speed locks in the ankle
lock. Killjoy yells in pain as he’s now hanging over the railing, tens of feet
in the air over the barbed wire tables, which haven’t be broken yet. Speed
smirks thinking Killjoy can’t do anything without hurting himself.
Sharper:
“My God! Ankle lock and Killjoy is dangling over the edge of the platform. He’s
got nowhere to go but down!”
Dawson:
“Speed knows that. He knows that Killjoy can’t counter without sacrificing
himself either.”
Killjoy
continues to yell and can be seen grabbing the railing, hoping to push back on,
but Speed continues to push forward. Killjoy then flips forward and Speed is
pulled right over the railing and Speed starts to fall to the tables. Killjoy
meanwhile, is hanging from the scaffold, holding onto the railing! Speed goes
through the barbed wire wrapped tables and the crowd erupts in cheers and the
bell rings.
Dawson:
“I don’t believe it! Killjoy managed to hold on and win it!”
Sharper:
“But Speed has a trip to the hospital planned.”
Johnson:
“Both men do.”
Phillips:
“The winner of the match, Killjoy!”
The
crowd cheers as “Ya’ll Want a Single” plays throughout the arena. Killjoy
swings his leg up and rolls under the railing and onto the platform. He gets up
and throws his arms in the air celebrating. Officials and EMTs meanwhile check
on Speed at the bottom. Killjoy then starts to try to take the tape off to get
the cheese grater off his head.
Sharper:
“We are never going to forget this match anytime soon. That was the most brutal
thing I’ve seen in a long time.”
The
Rise to Greatness XXIII logo comes up on the screen.
We
return to a panning shot inside the Scotiabank Arena.
Sharper:
“That’s a blast from the past. That was my first Rise to Greatness!”
Knots: “And
we’ve suffered having you for the two decades since!”
“Victorious”
by Skillet begins playing as the lights dim a bit. Slowly, Amelia Nevado makes
her way onto the stage, the SCW World Championship around her waist. The crowd
gives a mixed reaction as Amelia Nevado scans the arena briefly before starting
to walk to the ring.
Sharper:
“Well we are waiting to hear from the Frosts definitively.”
Knots:
“Deanna keeps saying there’s something else at work here. I think she’s scared.
I think she’s scared about going to the main event.”
Sharper:
“I doubt that, but even still, if so, why is Selena also hesitant to accept it?
She went out of her way not to have to say anything last week. She did turn it
down, but when pressed, she hesitated. Selena’s ego, I don’t think, can let her
pass up the opportunity to main event Rise to Greatness again! To challenge for
the World Title!”
Amelia
Nevado makes her way down to the ring and goes over to the steel steps. She
then walks along the apron, wiping her feet, before stepping into the ring. She
then walks across the ring and demands a microphone. Phillips hands her a
microphone and she turns back to the middle of the ring. The music fades out as
she looks around the arena.
Nevado:
“Deanna…I’ve known you for years. I’ve known Selena too for the same time. But
this…I am done waiting for clarity. And as I said a couple of weeks ago, I will
take on whoever is in front of me. If it’s you, Deanna, I will take on someone
who I called a friend and I know we can have an amazing contest and will push
one another, but sorry, Deanna, this will not be your history making moment.”
Nevado
pauses briefly.
Nevado:
“If it’s Selena…after her comments to me last year and earlier this year, after
I choked her out at Hubris, I will remove all doubt that I have surpassed her
in every way by giving her another loss at Rise to Greatness and ending this
farce that only she can be deemed a champion of amazing skill. That mantle will
be mine.”
Nevado
then looks down and shakes her head.
Nevado:
“But if you’re going to yet again try to punt this down another week, I will
happily face Gavin Taylor in his well-deserved rematch and face him as I was
prepared to do so at Taking Hold of the Flame before the Glimmer Sisters
insulted this entire sport with their Trios Tournament cash-in.”
Nevado
proudly stands in the middle of the ring.
Nevado:
“I have waited for this moment for years. I have finally held this World
Championship, meeting my potential. But I know deep down it won’t be enough for
me until I walk into the biggest event in professional wrestling and do what I
was put on this earth to do at a level few could match…and beat whoever is in
front of me. Call it confidence. Call it arrogance. I call it what I need to
do. I am as motivated as ever and all I needed that that opportunity to get
here. And I will not be passing it up.”
Nevado
then looks at the camera.
Nevado:
“But Deanna…you don’t seem to share that position. As you’re willing to give it
all up. Last year, few would question your heart, but today, I think that’s
more than fair.”
The
chords of "People Like Us" by Kelly Clarkson fill the arena, causing
a roar from the audience as bright, fall leaves seem to blow and fly on the LED
screens on and around the ramp. Deanna Frost walks out from the back, holding
the SCW Adrenaline Championship. She looks at the ring and then starts to walk
down to the ring. Nevado looks at her as Deanna walks down the rampway and to
the steel steps.
Sharper:
“Deanna Frost coming to the ring. She’s not going to run.”
Knots:
“I think she will! She’ll happily take her Adrenaline Championship and I think
she defend that, hoping Polly Playtime or Dawn Lohan will be easier for her
because she’s egotistical. Runs in the Frost family.”
Sharper:
“Stop it. You know Deanna is not like that at all.”
Deanna
enters the ring and steps forward. Amelia Nevado looks at her as Deanna then
walks over to her, trying to talk to her. Nevado stops her.
Nevado:
“I’m not interested in whatever reason you’re claiming to have Deanna…are you
facing me or not? If not, get out of the ring, bring Selena down here, and I’m
going to focus there!”
We cut
backstage to see Luz watching on a monitor, shaking her head. Back in the ring,
Deanna, a bit stunned, turns and goes over to the corner and asks for a
microphone. Phillips hands Deanna one and she turns back to Amelia.
Deanna:
“If you’re going to respond that way, you’re going to listen to what I have to
say. Especially with what we’ve been through!”
Amelia
looks down, clearly trying to avoid showing any reaction.
Deanna:
“Just like I know deep down you still deeply care for Luz despite this…whatever
this is. I refuse to believe that you’ve thrown everything away about who you
are all to become the World Champion. Especially in this short time. I saw last
week. I aw you look at Polly and Gavin, upset. You wanted to win. You wanted to
win by pinfall, not technicality. That’s who you are. Just like at Taking Hold
of the Flame, you took a situation that you shouldn’t have been in…one forced
on you by the Trios contract, and instead, you looked past the humiliation, and
stepped up, with Luz, and won! You competed. You did what you do.”
Nevado
looks at Deanna as Deanna continues to speak.
Deanna:
“I refuse to believe you’re that cold about everything. We may be friends.
We’ve been through a lot. You helped me with my mental health issues last year.
And I wish I could have helped you more this year as you dealt with Luz’s
success. And yeah, it hurt when you took the desperate path…but I also today
understand why.”
Nevado:
“Get to the point!”
Deanna:
“I am…the same reasons that are motivating you now…driving you to make
decisions that are out of character, while trying to be who you are deep
inside. I know exactly what you’re feeling. I didn’t have to worry about the
jealously. I’ve always known I’m not Selena. You…Luz…you have so much more
potential. Luz even won the title against me at Rise to Greatness…maybe I’m a
bit to blame here there…”
Deanna
sighs and looks around.
Deanna:
“Focus Deanna…”
Deanna
looks down, gathering herself as Nevado just looks at her.
Deanna:
“Amelia…I know it sounds weird to fans, to Adam Sharper, to whoever knows me in
the back…who’s been in a relationship. Selena betrayed me. Sure…she took my
contract. She signed her name on it. She tried to desperately win the title at
Hubris…and you ended that. Taking Hold of the Flame, I tried to get her in it.
She failed. I didn’t. And…Selena needs to be World Champion. Amelia, aren’t
there things you and Luz have that only you two know about one another? Selena
and I may be separated but that still is for us. Let me just have my reasons,
let me-“
BELIEVE
IT... OR NOT!
"Thank You for Hating Me!" by Citizen Soldier plays throughout
the arena, the SCW Universe deafening the song with their boos. The lights
shift to dark purple and blue, filling the arena as snow is seen “falling”
along the electronic floor and screens as, out from the back, walks the Snow
Queen, Selena Frost, microphone in her hand. Deanna turns to the entrance way.
She then walks over to the ropes and sits on the ropes as Amelia turns and
motions to Selena to come to the ring.
Selena:
“Cut the music!”
Deanna
starts to stand up.
Selena:
“Deanna…please….Get up off the ropes.”
Selena
looks around, before looking up, taking a moment and then composing herself.
Selena:
“This is your main event. Deanna…you earned it!”
The
crowd roars. Deanna steps off the ropes and backs up.
Selena:
“Amelia, you’re going to have to realize that Deanna is more than ready for
this. And she is going to give you the fight of a lifetime. BELIEVE that…but
Deanna…this is your moment. This is your time. I cannot take it from you.”
Deanna:
“Sel-“
Selena:
“Deanna…I know. I know what we said a year ago. I know you’re thinking of that
conversation.”
Selena
shakes her head.
Selena:
“I can’t take again. I already went too far. This…this is yours. It must be
yours. And Deanna…don’t even think about resisting that. Because if I’m not
taking it, you must. Please…Please accept this.”
Amelia
looks at Selena and then to Deanna.
Deanna:
“I understand…”
Selena
almost looks relieved as Deanna turns to Amelia. As this happens, Selena backs
up and just quietly leaves the stage. Deanna steps up to Amelia.
Amelia:
“Well Deanna…see you at Rise to Greatness. Don’t focus on the friendship! The
Frost Family’s record fighting for the World Championship won’t be getting
better!”
“Victorious”
by Skillet starts to play as Amelia Nevado then coldly steps past Deanna,
looking down briefly, before stepping through and exiting the ring. Deanna
turns and watches Amelia walk past, disappointed by her comment. Amelia drops
to the floor and heads to the back, proudly holding the SCW World Championship
over her shoulder.
Sharper:
“Well we now know…Deanna Frost will face Amelia Nevado. This episode, this
uncertainty, no more!”
Knots:
“Thank God. But Deanna, I hope you understand, Amelia is as focused as she’s
ever been. As she said, she needs this. You better find out if you do!”
Sharper:
“Rise to Greatness XXIII…Amelia Nevado, Deanna Frost, World Championship on the
line!”
Nevado
continues on her way to the back.
We open
back up in the SCW headquarters. Delatosso just smiles as “Jeff” who comments
earlier walks over to him. We see other board members milling around. A couple
of looking out the windows.
Delatosso:
“See…all is dealt with.”
Jeff: “Fortunately,
someone made a call. Just I’m also relieved that we didn’t have to trivialize
Taking Hold of the Flame.”
Delatosso:
“Deanna did that given her marital issues. Regardless, the main event is set.
And we can move on there.”
Jeff: “One
thing went well. Good job.”
Jeff
turns and walks away as Delatosso looks annoyed. He then turns and looks out
the window. The camera turns revealing the Cowgirls from Hell have seemingly left.
Delatosso just takes a deep breath.
The Breakdown
logo comes up on the screen. A still for Asher Hayes vs. Glory Braddock comes
up next as “Psycho in my Head” by Skillet plays in the background.
Sharper:
“Well, next, we have what may be a classic – Glory Braddock and Asher Hayes to clash
in our main event! Next!”
The
scene fades out.
COMMERCIALS
Asher
Hayes vs. Glory Braddock
The
first chords of "Immortal" by Ozzy Osbourne begin to play over the PA
system.
Phillips: “The following non-title match is scheduled for one fall! Introducing
first, from London, England, she is The British Bombshell... Glory Braddock!”
Glory Braddock steps out onto the stage, wearing her ring gear consisting of
purple spandex pants, boots, and a purple top. She really does look like a
million bucks and grins from ear to ear, gazing out at the crowd for a moment
before making her way down the entrance ramp.
I come alive at the second of midnight
So I can fly when the world is asleep
You scream and howl as I'm taking the first bite
Blood on my tongue tastes of eternity
People will come and go
Some stories never told
They bury me down below
But I'll never die
'Cause I'm immortal
Yes, immortal
The British Bombshell steps up the steel steps and then onto the ring apron.
She poses momentarily on the apron, allowing people to take snapshots before
stepping through the ropes and into the ring. Once in the ring Glory heads to
the center of the ring and poses once more. Then the music dies down slowly...
Knots: “What a perfect way to cap off tonight! This is going to be a match that
proves exactly what SCW is supposed to be!”
Sharper: “Are you sure? That's what Delatosso wanted tonight to be all about
and it hasn't quite panned out that way.”
Knots: “Save it, Adam! Sometimes all it takes is one great match to turn
everything around!”
Sharper: “Well Glory may be heading into this contest thinking along similar
lines. For the second year in a row, she refused to enter the Taking Hold of
the Flame battle royal, determined to let her pure skills prove she should be
in the discussion for a World Title shot when we get to Apocalypse. She's been
trying to talk La Pequeña Luz, the runner-up in the battle royal and the wife
of our World Champion, into a potential contest, but in a few moments she's
about to renew another old rivalry.”
The opening riff to "Song for the Dead" by Queens of the Stone Age
kicks in. At the 37 second mark, the name "Asher Hayes" blares
through the PA system, and Asher appears on the stage, wearing a long leather
jacket, his face full of focus. The SCW Underground Title belt can be seen
around his waist. He bows down for a few moments before standing up straight,
throwing both fists in the air, before making his way towards the ring.
Phillips: “Her opponent, from Chicago, Illinois, he is the SCW Underground
Champion... Asher Hayes!”
“It's late enough to go driving
And see what's mine
Life's the study of dying
How to do it right"
He makes his way down the ramp as the reaction of the crowd rains down upon
him. He walks up the ring steps and climbs to the top turnbuckle, lifting both
fists into the air, slinging the jacket off his shoulders, simply looking at
the crowd before dropping down and running to the opposite side.
“You're a holy roller
If you bettin' to lose
If you're hanging around
I'm holding the noose"
He stands, once again, on the top rope. His expression remains focused as he
looks toward the ceiling, before dropping down, removing his jacket and handing
his belongings to the ref.
"Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Come a little bit closer
And get untied
In a hearse rolling over
Just a track in the line
Fuck it..."
Asher then leans into the corner, waiting for the match to begin.
Sharper: “While Glory may have her eyes on securing a future World Title
opportunity, Asher is no stranger to playing spoiler in that regard. Last year
on the road to Rise to Greatness, he did defeat Selena Frost before she made
her way into that show's main event.”
Knots: “His win wasn't without a lot of people sticking their noses into it,
though.”
Sharper: “And if anything could ruin Delatosso's hopes of this one match going
off without a hitch, that might do it. Asher has been in the crosshairs of not
only Kim Williams, but David Striker as well lately. They may have very
different approaches, but their end goal is the same: the Underground Title
that Asher holds.”
Knots: “And if they're smart, they'll stay away and let tonight end on at least
one positive.”
Referee Aaron Demitra signals for the bell, and the fans cheer as Glory and
Asher slowly approach one another. They verbally spar back and forth for a
moment before Asher tries to grapple with Glory, but she ducks it into a
go-behind and applies a rear waistlock. She goes to lift Asher for a potential
german suplex, but Asher catches her with a back elbow to block it! He does a
standing switch to have Glory in the rear waistlock now, but as he tries to
clobber her from behind with a northern lariat, Glory twists and catches his
arm, using his own momentum to take him down to the mat before she applies a
fujiwara armbar! Asher grits his teeth as Demitra checks in with him, but he refuses
to submit this early in the match.
Knots: “See? This! This is what SCW is all about! This is what we need more
of!”
Sharper: “Glory frustrating Asher here in the early-going. While I’ve heard
Asher has a different take on it, as far as the record books show, Glory’s had
his number and you know things like this are only going to get under his skin.”
Glory keeps cranking on the fujiwara armbar, but Asher still refuses to submit
as he gets his feet under him and starts to get back up. Glory steps over his
arm to release the armbar, but twists through into an arm wrench to keep Asher
on the defensive. She very slowly spins through for another arm wrench before
trying to trip Asher back to the mat. He manages to block, however, before
using the arm Glory has control of to pull her into a sudden short-arm lariat!
Asher takes a moment to shake some feeling back into his arm as Glory gets back
to her feet, but as she moves in to try and reclaim control, Asher swings with
his other arm and connects with a lariat takedown!
Sharper: “Asher managing to fight his way out of Glory’s grip, and that’s going
to be his best chance of trying to even his score with Glory.”
Knots: “Glory might have him beat in the technical department, but Asher’s no
slouch when it comes to throwing hands!”
Asher tries to shake some more feeling back into the arm Glory was targeting as
Glory rolls to the ropes and uses them to pull herself back to her feet. She
moves towards Asher, but he catches her with a cross chop to the throat that
backs her up against the ropes again! As she turns away from him to try and
catch her breath, Asher grabs her arm and hammerlocks it behind her back before
he lifts her up, walking her towards the center of the ring before driving
Glory into the mat with a powerslam onto her hammerlocked arm! Glory cries out
in pain, but Asher shoves her back to the mat and makes the cover, hooking the
arm he didn’t just slam her entire body weight onto. As Demitra drops down to make
the count, he hooks one of her legs with his free arm.
1!
2!
Glory gets her shoulder up! She does cry out in pain at having to use the arm
Asher just targeted to do so.
Sharper: “Asher showing off his veteran instincts. Not only giving Glory a
receipt for the arm, but also trying to strip her of a valuable chunk of her
offense.”
Knots: “She can’t hit the Glorification with only one good arm, and she might
have some trouble trying to get a good grip on the Shekhinah Glory as well!”
Glory clutches at her arm, but Asher shows no sympathy as he stomps on her
elbow! The fans give a bit of a mixed reaction, but Asher ignores it as he
pulls Glory to her feet before popping her with a european uppercut! Glory
staggers into the nearest corner, and Asher follows her in, grabbing her arm
before trying to wrap it around the top rope. He connects with another european
uppercut to keep Glory stunned before he backs up, measuring her. He charges in
for a running big boot, aiming for Glory’s arm, but Glory manages to free it
and moves, leaving Asher to get caught up on the top rope! He winces as he
tries to pull himself off the top rope, but Glory springboards off the middle
rope into a triangle dropkick right to the inside of his knee!
Sharper: “Glory with a receipt of her own! It may not be Asher’s arm, but she’s
trying to take away his biggest shots just as he’s been doing to her!”
Knots: “Pretty damn hard to cave someone’s face in with a big knee strike if
you’ve only got one good wheel!”
Asher falls to the mat, clutching at his knee. Glory takes a moment to shake
out her arm before she moves in to capitalize, but Asher quickly rolls into the
ropes. The fans boo a bit as Aaron Demitra steps in to force Glory to give
Asher some space as he pulls himself out to the floor, limping for a moment as
he tries to stretch out his knee. Glory, however, has no intention of letting
him recover as she moves around Demitra and steps out onto the apron before
springboarding off the middle rope into an asai moonsault that gets the fans
roaring!
Sharper: “Glory goes airborne! Not only is she not letting Asher have a moment
to recover, but she might be sending a message to Luz that she can fly just as
well as her!”
Knots: “Did you have to bring Luz up while they’re both out on the floor? I
think the last thing we need is a repeat of that terrible ending earlier that
ruined an otherwise perfect example of what SCW is all about!”
Both wrestlers are down on the outside as Aaron Demitra assesses them from
inside the ring before he begins his count. (1) Glory rolls away from Asher.
(2) She starts to stir, slowly working her way back to her feet. (3) Asher
begins to stir as Glory makes it back to her feet. (4) She reaches down to grab
a rising Asher, but pauses for a moment to shake some feeling back into the arm
Asher was targeting. (5) She turns and throws Asher back into the ring under
the bottom rope. Asher rolls towards the center of the ring as Glory pulls
herself onto the apron, measuring him. He slowly gets back to his feet,
staggering for a moment because of his knee, but as soon as he’s back to his
feet, Glory springboards off the top rope into another dropkick! Asher falls
back, rolling through before he ends up back on his feet and falling into the
ropes, but as Glory gets back up to stay on him, she’s suddenly leveled by a
pendulum lariat!
Sharper: “Glory thought she had Asher reeling, but the Underground Champion
pulling a huge pendulum lariat from out of nowhere!”
Knots: “As much as I think the Underground Title is better off being retired
again, one thing it does prove is how well Asher can absorb punishment to
create openings out of nothing!”
Asher slowly rolls back to his feet, gritting his teeth. He moves to grab Glory
and starts pulling her up, but she suddenly pulls him into a small package!
1!
2!
Asher kicks out just before Demitra’s hand can hit the mat for the three! Both
competitors get back to their feet, but Asher is quicker and tries to boot
Glory in the head before she’s fully upright again. Glory, however, catches his
foot and looks to twist into a dragon screw, but Asher manages to pull his leg
in and clocks Glory with a stiff elbow strike to the side of the head! Glory
looks dazed as Asher tries to shake some feeling back into his knee before he
runs off the ropes, but whatever he was planning is intercepted by a superkick
that rocks him! Asher staggers back as Glory moves in to try and pick the leg,
looking to take him down into some kind of submission, but Asher catches her
right between the eyes with his good knee, the shot echoing throughout the
arena like a gun shot! The fans audibly groan at the impact as Glory falls to
the mat and Asher falls to a seated position right in front of her.
Sharper: “What a wicked shot by Asher to keep Glory from doing any more damage
to his knee!”
Knots: “He’s been through this with Glory many times before. The last thing he
needs is to let her start getting comfortable working over a crucial body
part!”
Asher stares down at Glory for a moment, looking a little frustrated. He
quickly regains his composure as he grabs the arm he’d been targeting and
stretches it out, driving his good knee down into the ball of her shoulder for
an armbar variation! Glory cries out in pain as Aaron Demitra checks in with
her, but she refuses to submit as she reaches out for the ropes. Unfortunately,
she’s a little too far away, forcing her to have to try and crawl towards them
while dragging all of Asher’s weight kneeling down on her shoulder. As she gets
close, Asher stands up and drags her back to the center of the ring, but as he
goes to reapply the armbar, Glory manages to roll out of it before rolling him
up for a pin!
1!
2!
Asher kicks out! He quickly moves to grab her before she can get back up, but
Glory suddenly catches him with Gloria in Excelsis Deo! The fans are on their
feet as Glory rolls towards the nearest corner, pulling herself up while
gritting her teeth. She slowly pulls herself up onto the second turnbuckle as
Asher begins to stir again, shaking her arm out once more. As Asher makes it
back to his feet and turns, she leaps off and catches him with a one-armed
Prankster’s Paradise! Glory rolls into the cover, hooking a leg with her good
arm.
1!
2!
Asher gets a shoulder up!
Sharper: “Glory surprising Asher with a flash pin and then two big moves
back-to-back, but it’s not enough to keep the Underground Champion down!”
Knots: “I hope Kim and Striker are backstage taking notes! This is what they
could be doing instead of trying to mindlessly bash people’s brains in with
weapons!”
Glory looks down at Asher, taking some deep breaths as she tries to figure out
what might be able to keep him down. She pulls herself back to her feet before
moving back to the corner, stepping out onto the apron before she slowly
ascends to the top turnbuckle, hindered a bit by her arm. Once she’s up top,
she takes a moment to steady herself as she measures Asher before looking for
the London Plunge, but Asher suddenly springs back to his feet and catches her
in a uranage position! The fans are roaring as Glory looks stunned and Asher
grimaces at the pressure it put on his knee, but he quickly slams Glory into
the mat with a side effect! He grabs her bad arm and starts trying to complete
the Dream Killer, but Glory is kicking her legs and fighting desperately to
keep him from getting this hold locked in!
Knots: “Asher was playing possum!”
Sharper: “He blocks the London Plunge and now he’s trying to cinch in the Dream
Killer, and Glory could be in huge trouble if he can finish this combo!”
Asher keeps trying to apply the anaconda vise, using his size and strength to
maneuver Glory towards the center of the ring instead of towards the ropes.
Glory, however, keeps thrashing and fighting with everything she’s got to
prevent this hold from being locked in. As Asher tries to adjust to gain more
leverage, Glory manages to get her legs under him and throws them up, trying to
reverse his efforts into the Shekhinah Glory! The fans are on their feet as
Glory goes to try and cross her legs to cinch this hold in, but Asher throws
his free arm over that leg and blocks her from fully applying the submission!
The arm that Glory has a hold of manages to grab her bad arm and wrenches on
the forearm to allow him control as he slowly stands up, stumbling a bit due to
his knee, before he attempts to try and step through for the Painful Hayes!
Sharper: “Glory and Asher, putting on a technical showcase as they fight to see
who can get that final submission applied first!”
Knots: “In the immortal words of our great CEO, THIS is what SCW should be!”
Asher manages to step through, but before he can get Glory’s legs crossed, she
catches him right in the nose with a kick to the face! She kicks up again,
catching him in the side of the head this time, and as Asher staggers back,
another kick from the ground catches him in the knee! Asher staggers back,
gritting his teeth in pain as Glory manages to roll backwards, but as soon as
she’s almost back to her feet, Asher bounces off the ropes with a roar of pain
and fury before he blasts her right between the eyes with the Dust to Dust! The
fans are roaring as Asher clutches at his knee from pushing it to pull that off
before he drapes himself over Glory for the cover.

Aaron Demitra calls for the bell as "Song for the Dead" by Queens of
the Stone Age hits the speakers again. Asher slowly rolls off of Glory as the
fans are giving a mixed reaction, though the cheers seem to be outweighing the
jeers for the amazing match they just witnessed.
Phillips: “Here is your winner… Asher Hayes!”
Knots: “As I said: a match that personifies exactly what SCW should be!”
Sharper: “I won’t argue with that. An incredible contest between these two
amazing athletes, but tonight, the victory belongs to the Underground
Champion.”
Knots: “A big blip for Glory here tonight, but definitely a strong case for
Asher going forward if we want to talk about who might be World Title worthy
after Rise to Greatness! This is the level of competition here in SCW!”
Sharper:
“I can buy that. And you wonder what Asher Hayes is also thinking after what he
said last week…What a night tonight in Toronto! And Rise to Greatness keeps
coming closer and closer!”
Asher slowly pulls himself to his feet, limping a bit from how much his knee
was targeted for a good portion of the match. Demitra raises his arm in victory
to another mixed reaction, again the cheers seeming to outweigh the boos for
now. Asher doesn’t seem to care, though, being handed the Underground Title
belt and nodding to it before he slowly moves over to the ropes and climbs
through. As he makes his way backstage, Glory begins to stir, hearing Asher’s
music and looking a little dejected at the realization that she’s lost this one…
