A Warning and Stopping a Trend I Should Have Stopped Earlier
Posted by: supremecw - 02-13-2021, 11:26 AM - Forum: OOC Board - No Replies

It has been brought to my attention that some handlers have explicitly copied sections, lines, excerpts from a variety of places on the internet. Thus far, from my knowledge, it has only been in description or in non-consequential sections of roleplay (e.g. meaningless description done to fill space). Admittedly, I have not been as proactive on this as I should have been and that is on me. The problem now is that it has been seen as tacitly accepted among multiple handlers for minor sections when it never should be.

As a result, I feel it necessary to make clear the policy on this, while reflecting on my failures to properly police this.

Simply put, if you are found to be copying any material from another source, you will forfeit the match that roleplay is for, regardless of how significant the copying is (If it's a sentence of description, that's enough - this is not to consider though common turns of phrase or coincidence.).

Furthermore, for the first offense, the HANDLER will forfeit any titles they hold and any title opportunities they had earned for three months.

The second offense will be for six months.

The third offense will be banning from the fed.

Regarding the first two offenses, should the handler elect to leave, the clock on the bans for title opportunities will be paused until the handler returns to the fed and then continued. The time will be fully served.

It's one thing to copy a segment from a show to react to it in a roleplay or my using the provided entrances in one's bio on the shows. It's in agreement those are all for common use for those in the fed. It's also perfectly find to take inspiration from movies, television, wrestling, quotes, etc. It's another to take a phrase, sentence, paragraph from a third-party website and use it unchanged. I apologize that I overlooked it for so long as frankly, I should have been better in policing this; fortunately, to my knowledge, the content that has been used has been superficial to the roleplay content. But that all said, it doesn't mean I can't be better and we can't be better. There is no excuse for my turning the other way, nor is there any excuse for others copying and pasting content from other sites, even if it may be seen as "innocent" or superficial.

Consider this the warning. There will be zero tolerance going forward.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Wrestler's Real Name: Sophie Elizabeth James
Pic Base: Hayley Williams
Height: 5'5
Weight: 116lbs
Birthdate: 29th February 1992
Birth Place: Palmerston, Ontario, Canada (Grew up in Detroit, Michigan)
Current Residence: Las Vegas, Nevada

Physical Description:
Five foot five, one hundred and sixteen pounds, long bright orange hair, Sophie is not your average girly girl but is instead more of a tomboy. Outside of the ring, Sophie wears skinny jeans and high top sneakers, t-shirts with various bold slogans and either hooded tops or checked shirts over the top. Sophie also wears baseball caps of various colours, mostly depicting Michigan sports teams such as the Lions, Pistons or Red Wings.

In the ring Sophie wears the same jeans and high top sneakers but swaps the baggy t-shirts for skin-tight vest tops of various colours. To the ring, she wears a zip up hooded sweatshirt or hooded checked shirt. She also has her hands taped from knuckle to wrist.

Recent Additions to Common Moves:
- Standing shooting star press
- Double moonsault
- Double underhook sitout facebuster

Though no longer a rookie, Sophie's move list is still fairly basic. However, she will try to use more complicated moves given the chance and she's a quick learner. Her move list will steadily grow over time as she picks up new skills.

Strengths:
- Determined: Wants to be a success and will do anything to achieve it.
- Quick as hell: Sophie is lightning quick and it shows when in the ring.
- Relentless: Once she's picked her strategy, she'll stick to it until her goal is achieved.

Weaknesses:
- Hot headed: Sophie can blow her top at any minute.
- Stubborn: Sophie hates to fail and refuses to give up.
- Fear of failure: Sophie's determination can also be a negative. After more recent success and new found sobriety, Sophie fears failure because she worries it may send her spiraling back to her old ways.

In Ring Style:
- Sophie's style is a mixture of high flying acrobatics and straight up brawling. She knows very little about submission and doesn’t really have the strength to use submission moves anyway. She instead chooses to blitz her opponents with her speed and then while they're warn down, go on the attack with various punches and kicks.

Entrance:
The lights in the arena cut completely and strobe lights flicker on the stage in time with the drums to the opening of “RUN!” by Nomy, before pyro’s explode on either side of the stage with the true beginning of the song over the speaker system. The screen lights up with the words “MOTOR CITY BITCH” and the fans boo as Sophie walks out onto the stage. She comes to a stop at the head of the ramp before throwing back the hood of her hooded top and her arms go out wide. The crowd boo loudly as Sophie smirks back at them.

Phillips: "Ladies and Gentleman, from the Motor City of Detroit Michigan and now fighting out of Las Vegas Nevada, she weighed in earlier tonight at one hundred sixteen pounds, The Motor City Bitch herself...SOPHIE JAMES!!!!"

Still smirking, Sophie suddenly bursts down the ramp, jumping up and sliding leg first under the bottom rope before leaping up and ascending the turnbuckles. Standing on the middle rope, she once again throws her arms out on both sides, her music still thrashing out as the fans continue to boo her. Hopping down, Sophie does the same on the opposite side of the ring before  removing her jacket, which she tosses to the outside before taking a seat in the corner, her arms draped across the bottom rope on either side of her as her music fades and she waits for the start of the match.

Biography:
- Sophie was born in the small community of Palmerston in the province of Ontario in Canada. She lived in Palmerston with her mom dad and older brother until the age of five when her father took a new job in Detroit working with inner-city kids, uprooting the whole family from their quiet life for the hustle and bustle of the big city. Sophie hated Detroit when she was younger, finding herself the favourite plaything of the school bullies for being an outsider; kids can be cruel and not being from Detroit effectively made her a prime target. Growing up, Sophie didn't fit in with the cliques; she couldn't stand bitchiness and spending hours on hair and makeup seemed almost pointless to her. As she entered her teens and moved up to high school, she found her self spending more and more time with the local guys instead; not in a slutty way but almost finding herself as one of the boys.

- As her fifteenth birthday approached, her older brother Seb joined the Army, something which her parents disliked and Sophie hated; Soph spent a LOT of time with her brother and his friends and to suddenly lose him to the forces was soul destroying for her. Sophie fell off the rails a little, drinking at house parties and dabbling with drugs, but it turned out to be a phase that she was pulled away from by her brother's friend Tyler before it really took hold. Tyler was a promising young kickboxer with a big career before him and Sophie began training with him, learning how to fight. The bullies had long since stopped trying to target her by this time, but it never hurt to know how to defend yourself, especially when you lived in a city like Detroit.

- By seventeen, Sophie had learned all she could learn from Tyler, becoming a handy little kickboxer herself, although she refused to try and go professional herself, choosing instead to support Tyler as he tried to make it. It was around her eighteenth birthday however that tragedy struck. Her brother Seb was killed while on tour in Iraq and that almost emotionally crippled Sophie. She drifted away from her parents and friends, initially losing herself to the bottom of the bottle again, before the depression turned into anger. Sophie began to focus on her training, fighting in parking lots and old warehouses for money before eventually stumbling into wrestling. She's signed a deal with Majestic Wrestling in the hope that eventually, she'll be able to come to terms with her brother's death. It didn't exactly work out that way though, and for a while it looked like Sophie was hellbent on her own destruction, continuing the party lifestyle that Tyler had tried his hardest to get her out of, mostly thanks to her new found friendship with a man known as Ace Marshall.

- Sophie had a fair amount of success during her time with Majestic Wrestling, eventually the winning the MW Heritage Championship, her career ending up at ten wins and three losses before the company folded and she had ended up jobless again. Not that it mattered to her of course; Sophie had been dating an elaborately rich guy - and SCW Superstar - by the name of Collin Cole, and she had had NO problem using him for his money, managing to get a brand new Hummer and an apartment out of him before he finally found out that she was using him and the pair separated. Following that, Sophie ended up dating a woman named Alicia Morton, a woman that had proven to be both the life and soul of any party but also toxic to be around and Sophie ended up in a real state thanks to that noxious relationship, wasted every single night on a cocktail of alcohol and drugs. That all changed when Dawn Lohan saved Sophie though, and the two of them began dating not long after, Sophie genuinely telling Dawn that she had 'saved her' from herself. Of course, it was all bullshit, all smoke and mirrors, and Dawn came home one evening to a 'Dear Jane' letter from Sophie, who had simply packed her bags and left without sparing Dawn even a second thought. That failure to even contemplate Dawn's feelings was partially the reason she found herself in the IWC the first time, as Dawn's friend Kathryn Pearson had said some things on twitter in support of Dawn that Sophie took exception to. The pair started arguing and things turned fairly vicious, resulting in Kathryn telling Sophie to climb in the ring and Sophie replying 'be careful what you wish for'. Good things came to those who waited for them, but it didn't go as Sophie had hoped and she lost that night. Some months later, Sophie reappeared in Cartel: NxtGen as Victor Mason's manager and had also joined the #GingerNation and now, with her wonderful Red Headed friend in need, Sophie has once again stepped into the IWC to team with Maria Jones to fight for #GingerJustice and hopefully bring the IWC Tag Team titles to the Ginger Nation!

Her second time in IWC, this time with a contract to be there, was far more successful. Sophie and Marie ultimately became Uprising tag team champions and would continue to hold the belts for more than a year, making the transition from IWC Uprising to the UWA. As their tag reign came to an end and Marie and her sister Kim both left the company, Sophie set out in UWA on her own. Her drug issues began to get the better of her and on January 1st 2016, Sophie overdosed on heroin in her Las Vegas apartment. Sophie was discovered by Ace Marshall and Cassidy Carter and her life was ultimately saved. Forced to go through cold turkey, Sophie went through hell kicking the habit, but as she grew accustomed to her life without toxins of any kind, Sophie's mentality in UWA also began to change. The fans started to rally behind her as she started fighting the good fight instead of her own self-serving ends. She became number one contender to the World Title at Collision Course, winning an over the top rumble to earn that honour. Sophie fell short at Olympus when she challenged Rachel Tatum Lee for the World title and lose, but got another chance at Sectioned in July of 2017 when she earned a spot in the Chamber Of Secrets match. Sophie became World Champion for the first time in her career that night, managing to retrieve the world title from where it hung high up in the chamber and cemented her legacy as top face in the company with that victory. The fans adored her by this point and she held the title until December where she eventually lost out to Jacen Hunter on the final show before UWA closed it's doors for good. With a real thirst to continue to prove herself, Sophie and her boyfriend David decided to make the jump to UWA's biggest rival, SCW - where Sophie had competed once before, and with a determination to prove herself yet again at the highest level, the journey to the top started all over again. With her addiction well and truly beaten, Sophie was able to concentrate on her in-ring career entirely, and even found time for helping others with their own demons, and Sophie and David soon found themselves World Tag Team Champions… though the honeymoon period didn’t last long and they both departed SCW shortly after losing the belts and Sophie walked away from the relationship when David’s drug habit became too self-destructive for her to help, not matter how much it pained her to do so. With a need for something to both distract her but also give her something to grasp on to, Sophie decided to reach out to Francis Taylor, looking for a place to call home once again. Francis offered her a contract the next day and Sophie returns to GCW after a short stint earlier in her career, ready to try and force her way up the ladder on the Livewire brand. How high she gets is anyone’s bet...

SCW Television Championship
Jay Gold vs. Ricky James
Ricky James may be Television Champion…sorry, Champion of Television and apparently drawing record ratings, allegedly, but he will have to deal with a familiar foe and one that defeated him back at Under Attack. Jay Gold, close to Kelsai Adamson-Mason, and coming off a recent good showing himself, could suddenly turn things around for him in 2021 with on win. Can he do it or will James continue his championship run?
Writer: Cid

Christy Matthews vs. Derek Adonis
Christy Matthews was incensed last week, left out of the World Title Cash-in by Ace Marshall. She wanted a match, any match and Derek Adonis drew the short-straw. But Adonis is a changed man and will he have something to say or do about this?
Writer:

Syren vs. Tommy Valentine
Lost in the chaos of last week’s show was Syren was off. No open challenge. But now, Tommy Valentine, clearly looking to get a big win, is going big, a week before Syren challenges for the World Title, he’s banking on his ability to count on Syren being not only distracted, but perhaps overcautious going into her World Title opportunity.
Writer: J

The Light in the Darkness vs. The Golden Boys (Adam Allocco & Bison Jones)
The Light in the Darkness suffered a tough loss to Doom & Groove; The Golden Boys suffered the same to Cruze & Blackbourne. Now, with the Tag Division wide open again, every win matters. Will Allocco and Jones return to their form from mid-last year or will Light in the Darkness return to the win column?
Writer: Cid

Crystal Zdunich vs. Katie Steward
It turned into a brawl last week, complete with formal protest. We’re getting a rematch on Breakdown. Will the bell sound this time? Will they actually get it in the ring? Will these two, surprisingly similar individuals settle their differences? What about TJ Johnson and Lexy Chapel? Will anything more happen there?
