Entrance:

The light dim for a few moments, then the stage lights up in red as music begins:

{There's nothing more dangerous
Than a man with something to prove and nothing to lose
There nothing more dangerous
Than a man with nothing to lose}

A white spotlight hits the stage near the curtain as Spencer Pryce steps out, arms spread wide. Spencer then makes his way down the ramp, focused on the ring.

{I will dominate
Seize the day
Ring the bell
Storm the gates

I will dominate, dominate
through the pain, through the pain}

Running up the steps, Spencer then grabs the top rope, using it as leverage to leap over the top rope to enter. Stepping to the center of the ring, Spencer spreads his arms wide again, and makes a big exaggerated turn along with the next lyrics:

{Mine to give, mine to take
I was made to dom - i - nate!}

Spencer then goes to his corner and uses the ropes for some stretches as the music fades out.

Biography: Born in the midwest to a single mother, they moved to Texas when he was a toddler. Wrestled in college, won state championships thanks to his submission skills. Researched wrestling schools before deciding on BlackOut Academy in New Orleans.
In 2022 Spencer revealed the real reason he chose BlackOut Academy - Simon Lyman is his father. Simon was understandably shocked, while Spencer remained angry about the man leaving him and his mother behind. Shortly after this revelation, Spencer, who was then the United States Champion, had one too many altercations with Simon at an SCW event, and thus was stripped of the championship and fired by the GM at the time Shaun Cruze.
Spencer has returned to SCW full time, claiming he wants back the championship he never lost. There is also the complication of Simon's previously unknown twin brother, Ryan, who was responsible for all the evil done under Simon's name. Does Spencer have any intentions of getting involved in that? Time will tell.

  New Roleplaying Rules
Posted by: supremecw - 08-16-2021, 08:57 PM - Forum: OOC Board - No Replies

As noted, here are the new roleplay rules SCW will be running with when it returns from its hiatus. Please note the differences between weekly shows and PPVs and also the note for CERTAIN title matches (World, US, Adrenaline & Tag Team). Television Championship matches will be contested under normal weekly show roleplaying rules given what it represents.

After giving it some thought and taking into account the comments and feedback that have been shared publicly, but also privately with me, I have elected the following is appropriate and will allow a reasonable transition, while also serving the purpose of being a suitable word limit to allow handlers to write the stories they’d like and also write good promos.

For weekly television shows, the roleplay limit will be as follows:

2 RP Limit (Adjusted appropriately – 4 RP for tag; 6 RP for six-person tag, etc.)
3500 word limit for EACH roleplay
Only one roleplay can be posted in the 24 hours before deadline

I’ve set this in this way for a purpose. 3500 words is plenty for most people. I find Breakdowns tend to be the shows many people who write longer overwrite. But if handlers wish to have the extra space, they are now encouraged to split up their roleplays and post earlier. I think by positioning the roleplay word count here, it allows plenty of room if handlers want to do more, but also I think it will encourage people to really focus on what’s necessary.

Roleplays that go over the word count will be disqualified (Word count will be determined by Microsoft Word). By “going over,” I don’t mean 10 words. I don’t want to start nickel and diming people here. But anything over 100 words will be considered “over.”

The SCW Television Championship will also be competed under these rules REGARDLESS of when it is defended.

For Title Matches (not including Television Championship) and for PPV matches, there will be NO word limit. This, as I mentioned earlier, allows pay per views to have the feeling of being more important and handlers can write freely. For those concerned, recall that there are no longer any weekly shows in the week before the ppv, so handlers would have a full week to focus only on the pay per view.

Other rules:
2 RP Limit
Only one roleplay can be posted in the 24 hours before deadline

My hope is that this will serve three purposes:

1) Make the week to week roleplaying less onerous. I know many people love to dive into their stories, but I’ve noticed people pushing themselves harder and even burning out. The fact is that while this may seem like a significant change, I do think it will be one for the better, both by refocusing one’s efforts, but also by forcing writers to write more effectively and efficiently for Breakdowns.

2) Saves time on judging; as much as I like the fact that no limits often leads to more unforced errors, judging Breakdown is a significant time commitment. This allows me to in turn get match winners out faster, be in a better position to ask people for help if I need a second opinion, and in turn, spend more time on getting shows out in a timely manner.

3) Hopefully draws in some new faces and leads to more experimentation. The majority of those who enjoy this hobby are older. We don’t have the time we once did. I hope that leads to more people joining SCW which will revitalize the roster with fresh angles and matches. I hope it also leads to those already here feeling refreshed by being able to spend less time writing and more time enjoying the shows, the community and the like. And finally, I hope that it removes some of the stress that can come from needing to feel you need to write a certain style. I hope it leads to more experimentation and in turn, just more options.

  RTG update and more
Posted by: supremecw - 08-08-2021, 08:44 PM - Forum: OOC Board - No Replies

Hi all,

I wanted to give a quick update as it's been two weeks (yes, it has!) since the deadline for Rise to Greatness. I hope everyone is enjoying their time away from SCW and recharging. For me, I've been focusing on teaching prep and some professional opportunities and admittedly, for the first time ever, took two full weeks away from SCW.

That said, I'm diving back in and wanted to give you a sense of the timeline and when we'll be returning back to things.

Expect the SCW Rise to Greatness Pre-Show up this week. I will be judging in the next two days and planning both shows. The tentative plan is to have Rise to Greatness XVIII complete by the end of next week - this will be a bit more fluid as I will be writing lectures during this time too and have some other teaching responsibilities, and so hence the vagueness.

That said, the planned first Breakdown back from hiatus will be Thursday, August 26, 2021.

A schedule for the next year will be completed this week and I will be sending it to J to upload to our calendar whenever she has time. I will also be separating posting the revised roleplay rules as SCW enters its 19th year of operation.

Finally, I see some new faces on the fed Discord and on the board. It's great to see you joining SCW and I hope, after our hiatus, you'll not regret your decision!

Entrance

The lights in the arena dim to near darkness, as over the PA system comes the opening lines of Kanye West’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing...

La, la, la la
Wait 'til I get my money right

As the beat drops, red lighting effects overtake the arena. Bright white flashes cut in, synchronised with the soulful sample that loops in the beat. An exuberant Will Westgate emerges from the back, with his arms spread wide, imploring the audience to shower him with affection, which they do not. In fact, most of everyone is booing the arrogant self-proclaimed “Trending Topic” but that does nothing to curb his hubris. He signals to the nearest cameraman to come in closer, as he models his outfit and flashes his jewelry. Westgate continues down the ramp, acting as if the fans are applauding him, as he smiles, waves and bows.

After he’s adequately aroused the fans, he walks up the ring steps, coming to the middle of the apron where he stops. Westgate removes his expensive shades and stares straight down the lens of the camera with a deadpan expression, before cracking a charming smile and entering into the ring. Finally, he removes all his entrance attire and jewelry, handing it off to a ringside crew member and making sure to remind them that his clothing is very expensive, so they better not lose it.

Biography

Will Westgate is, more or less, the archetypical 20-year-old modern male. He is fit, fashionable and sociable. His personality is constructed around always appearing as cool and put together as possible. He fancies himself as being forward thinking, and always on the cutting edge of society. Meanwhile, he shows a lack of respect for the establishment, is not good at taking criticism, and oftentimes proves to be out of his depth when faced with real adversity.

The crux of his personality is a love and admiration for the 90s and 2000s, the era that he grew up in. Westgate believes he comes from the best generation and is a staunch proponent of the pop culture of the time. Aside from that, another crucial element of his character is his tendency to always dress to the nines. Some have called him a hypebeast, as he is known to ride whatever fashion trends are currently the hottest on social media. He has a vast collection of sneakers and designer shades that he is particularly proud of.

Before breaking into wrestling, Will Westgate was attending Lehigh University on a basketball scholarship, though he was not getting playing time with the squad. Due to his good looks and personality, however, he rapidly gained a huge following on Instagram. Eventually he would leave the basketball team, using his new reputation to become a local club promoter and DJ. Nowadays when he isn’t wrestling, he has multiple side hustles, working as an Instagram influencer, event promoter, DJ and amateur model.

  RtG and Yearly Break
Posted by: supremecw - 07-25-2021, 09:33 AM - Forum: OOC Board - Replies (6)

Well it is here - Rise to Greatness deadline has passed and our yearly break has now official begun. I know the last year has been a challenge at times with the pandemic and other challenges. Thank you to everyone who kept through and playing this game we do here in SCW.

Here's how things will shape out for the next little while:

I will be spending some time judging and writing for Rise to Greatness. Shows will be up as I complete them. One thing for certain is that the main show, Rise to Greatness XVIII, will not be up until at least August 15. When it is posted, that will be the official end of the hiatus, allowing it to be fresh in our minds when we come back into things.

In the next few weeks, I will be developing the schedule for the next year, and continuing my plotting. I will also post further confirmation about what the new roleplaying rules will look like upon our return.

But, more importantly, take some time away from the game (or at least SCW) for a bit. If the weather isn't mindbogglingly hot, and it's safe to do so, go outside, see the world, curl up with a good book (I hear Josh has one!) or catch up on professional wrestling or whatever you want to do. Take a break from the game and hopefully in roughly a month's time, we can come back to SCW and start another kickass season of the game we enjoy.

Wrestler's Real Name: Gianni Marquez
Twitter Handle (if applicable): @GDollaSigns
Pic Base: Sammy Guevara
Height: 5'10
Weight: 204 lbs
Birthdate: July 7, 2000
Birth Place: El Paso, Texas
Current Residence: Austin, Texas

Physical Description: See pic base

WRESTLING INFORMATION
-------------------------------------------------
Wrestling Style: Professional Wrestler
Alignment (Face/Tweener/Heel): Heel (by virtue of being overly face)
Years Pro: 1
Theme Song: “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd

Finishers:
Demonitizer
Click Like and Subscribe

Finishers Descriptions (If Needed):
Demonitizer - G-Money lifts his opponent for a powerslam but instead grapples their head under his arm, spinning and driving them into a slamming DDT. (Only on opponents 250 lbs. and lighter)
Click Like and Subscribe - G-Money hits a top rope senton on a fallen opponent (Possible on opponents of all sizes)

Signature Moves:
E.H.T.O.V.O.T.M. (Everyone Has Their Own Version Of This Move) (pronounced Eh-To-Vot’m)
Tweetie Bird

Signature Moves Descriptions (If Needed):
E.H.T.O.V.O.T.M. - A superkick… G will often send his opponents rebounding off the ropes before hitting this. That’s his version.
Tweetie Bird - With his opponent sitting on the top rope, G-Money will climb up beside him. He drapes his leg over his opponent's neck and jumps, coming off the ropes with a Famasser.

Common Moves:
- Snapmere
- Suplex
- Bodyslam
- Clothesline
- Dropkick
- Enziguri
- Backdrop
- Sleeper
- Atomic drop
- Russian leg sweep
- Standing elbow drop
- Sidewalk slam
- Fisherman’s suplex
- Moonsault
- Swinging neckbreaker

Strengths:
1) A decent following - while his matches may not set the world on fire (quite yet), Gianni’s YouTube prowess has amassed him a somewhat respectable following. What he lacks in in-ring prowess, his supporters deflect with their support.
2) C-Honey - What would G-Money be without his C-Honey. Okay, so the relationship between Gianni and Candi Honey may not appear conventional, his girlfriend is there to support her man and, where necessary, she isn’t afraid to get a tad physical.
3) Not totally incompetent - Look, a kid like this with all the designs upon social media and YouTube can be understandably dismissed as someone without the skills necessary to “make it”. That being said, Money isn’t entirely unskilled, and he has just enough competence that he’s able to surprise opponents assuming he’s an easy W.

Weaknesses:
1) Rather inexperienced - Says it all, really. He’s been in wrestling for a year.
2) His heart is in YouTube - Ultimately, G-Money is more interested in going viral than becoming Champion.

Entrance:
The lights around the arena begin to fade out as the synthesizer tones of “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd begins to play out. As the drumbeat kicks in, Gianni Money and Candi Honey come out from the back. While C-Honey doesn’t bother with the crowd, G-Money bursts out and begins playing to the crowd, a handheld camera in hand. He keeps the camera trained on himself, narrating his entrance for a future vlog, as he moves down, slapping the hands of fans without their consent. He gets to the ring and slides under the bottom rope as C-Honey climbs up the steps. G-Money opens the ropes for her before handing the camera off to the referee, instructing him to hold it so he can get a few more words in for his vlog. Finally, he takes it and hands it off to C-Honey before going around the ring to mug for the crowd…

Biography:
Gianni Marquez, like any other kid, dreams of fame and fortune acquired with minimal work as a YouTube celebrity. But his first attempt fell flat when his skateboard tricks were duds instead of dope, and his rap career came screeching to a halt after he received numerous cease and desist orders for using copyrighted material without express written consent (he would after seek that consent, only to have it denied). So he decided on the third thing on his YouTube star list snd enrolled in professional wrestling training. Now, G-Money seeks to take the world by storm and get ALL the followers he can! And if a Championship happens his way… ok then.

Wrestler's Alias: KEZ
Pic Base: Asia Argento (w/ face paint)
Height: 5'6”
Weight: 160
Birthdate: c. 1986
Current Residence: Kill Devil Hills, NC

Physical Description: Smaller of frame than her sister, but dense and calloused and hardened. In contrast to the reserved and elegant Lilith, KEZ wears the results of her violence openly and appears ready to fight at any given moment. Her knuckles are worn smooth and there are multiple scars visible behind her trademark face paint. Her similarly black hair is shorter and more haphazardly swept back, with dark eyes peering from behind the makeup.

WRESTLING INFORMATION
-------------------------------------------------
Wrestling Style: Wild brawling
Alignment (Face/Tweener/Heel): Heel
Theme Song: “blood in the trees” by Ophrys

Finishers: “Alekhine's Gun” and “Halcyon Arrow”

Finishers Descriptions (If Needed):
“Halcyon Arrow” - small package driver
“Alekhine's Gun” - Rocker Dropper

Signature Moves: “Play Dead” and “Furnace Room Lullaby”

Signature Moves Descriptions (If Needed):
“Play Dead” - knee trembler
“Furnace Room Lullaby” - Curb stomp against the bottom turnbuckle

Common Moves:
(*- the move is usually accompanied by a barrage of fists, elbows, or knees)
suicide dive
stinger splash
repeated elbows or knees
headbutt (never off the top rope)
double stomp
body scissors*
surfboard stretch*
clothesline
front chancery*
sling blade
spinning backfist
senton

Strengths: strong for her size, high tolerance for pain, often in a constant state of trying to hurt her opponent more (digging an elbow into their face during a pin, raining down punches during holds, etc), her wild, borderline careless style can lead to surprising innovation

Weaknesses: quick to anger, not one for strategy or tactics, her sloppy technique leads to things like the occasional weak bridge or loose cradle, is prone to getting herself disqualified

Entrance:
Calming music rises in the arena before being cut off by a harsh drone and pulsing, distorted drum. With the shift in music, the arena goes dark. In the darkness, KEZ emerges into the arena. Her expression as she glares down at the ring appears somewhere between intense focus and a thousand yard stare as she marches toward the ring. She barely registers any awareness of her surroundings at all until she reaches the ring, at which point she rolls in under the bottom rope, sheds her tattered denim jacket on the floor at ringside, and crouches in the corner waiting for the bell.

Biography:
In the years preceding the lich house tag team, "The Vicious Kind" Keziah Morgan had a very particular reputation in various independent promotions in the southeast. Her perpetually angry disposition and rumors of incidents of showing up "in no condition to compete" seemed to have less to do with her tumultuous relationship with the local bookers than her alleged pathological need to be combative. Her father's passing and her sister's subsequent joining her in wrestling initially only made things worse. But a few years afterward both vanished from the business entirely, only to reemerge after another few years. Her new in ring persona, simply going by KEZ, came with a much more reserved personality outside the ring. Inside she's been as violent as ever, and has adopted a relatively verbose writing style in lieu of cutting "promos," but so far nothing has hinted at what happened during her years away from the ring to facilitate the drastic change in both demeanor and general appearance.
